    Also, this is why it’s interesting to see what’s more profitable - because if you could book 3 $500 portrait sessions for each day for 2 days, you’re making more $$ bottom line than the $5000 gig for similar hours. Of course the trade off is you’d need to find 6 clients instead of one, but you also benefit from significantly lower overhead and pre-production/scheduling.
    Overall, solid information in a concise video. Killin’ it, Gordon! 👏🏼

      thank you man! yeah to me it's all about being profitable. Why strive for $100k/yr and profit $30k, when essentially you could be making $50k/yr and profit $40k. Just making up a random scenario to make my point. But appreciate you homie!

    Really puts pricing into perspective. I’ve only had experience with lower budget shoots $100 - $500 so this video was extremely helpful! Thank you Gordon!!

    My question that no video I’ve seen has answered is exactly how to get clients in the first place. Yeah social media and having a portfolio and all that is crucial. But these are to be expected. Every video talks about that. But say your a portrait photographer. How to you find individuals wanting portraits? Or you shoot music videos, how do find those clients wanting music videos? A realistic breakdown on how to do this is what a lot of us need just to get the ball rolling.

    5k always seems so good until you realize the overhead. Great breakdown

  • @Rapheev

    Soo good! 🔥 Just one question, how would you explain to a client the reason for the profit portion rather than just paying you and overhead?

    • @GordonLy
      @GordonLy  Před 4 lety +2

      They don’t need to know the profit. You really don’t even need to give a breakdown (cost wise) of the overhead, your cost, etc.
      Whatever you decide to charge (ie: $500) will be the cost for the project and you can give them an outline of what’s included for that cost:
      Branding Photo Session: $500
      - 60 minute photo session
      - 2 looks
      - 30 retouched images
      - delivered digitally via Dropbox
      Etc.
