    This was a great video. No hyperbole, no fearmongering, no clickbait, just straight forward and helpful information. I read all the manuals I had and got a tutorial from a neighbor, but this was the most helpful information I found.

    As always thank you for taking the time and effort to compile these informative videos. Having just set up my St Moritz for the first time today I am making good use of your clear instructions.

      Glad you like them! St Moritz is what we have. More to run than a smaller tub, but we like sprawling out in ours. The weather has gone a bit naff these last few days, but we're doing a sun dance each morning to try and get it back!
      Yeah, 50% saving on leccy costs isn't to be sniffed at, especially as the price of leccy has sky rocketed since I made that video.

    What about the effect tablets have on PH levels? They tend to make the water more acidic when I use them.

    I would watch using multifunctional tablets, as algaecide isnt needed in a hottub. It can cause damage to your tub liner and pump unit.

    • @AbouttheHouse0
      @AbouttheHouse0  Před rokem

      Can you be more specific. What chemicals in the tablets affect the liner? And how do they damage it?

    • @Apd_6464
      @Apd_6464 Před rokem

      @@AbouttheHouse0 the algaecide can cause further foaming. Then you have to use no foam to erase the foam, then that cause cloudy water. Another problem is it can strip the coating on the inner side of the tub due to its harsh chemical compound as its designed for more durable pool liner. You also can see thats algaecide is not recommended for a inflatable tub as it is included on the pool kit not the spa kit with clearwater. Algaecide also isnt a necessary ingredient if you keep your chlorine levels within range. If theres anything else you would like to know let me know 👍

    Good video. Question:
    I just bought this Hot Tub.
    How many days can my water stay clean before it gets dirty if I never use any chemicals?

    • @imaginitivity7853
      @imaginitivity7853 Před 2 měsíci

      It's necessary to use some form of sanitation (chemicals) for any use. Initially there may be no problem, but bacteria and mould will grow in the circulation system and hard to access parts of the tub. It may appear to be ok, but if you use it with no way of controlling these and then empty and store the tub, the next time you full it the bacteria and mould will have a head start, ready to grow and cause problems. People have died from poorly maintained hot tubs causing infections. Search Legionnaire's disease. There's simply no way to avoid the fact that people's bodies shed sweat, urine and faeces into the water. The water is typically maintained at body temperature, which is ideal growing conditions for lots of unpleasant stuff. It may look clean, but without chemicals it really isn't! If you're sensitive to Chlorine, the cheapest and most widely used sanitiser, you may prefer Bromine.

  • @starsandnightvision
    @starsandnightvision Před 3 měsíci +1

    What sort of chlorine granules do you use? I guess you can't use chlorine for a swimming pool also in a hot tub right?

    • @imaginitivity7853
      @imaginitivity7853 Před 2 měsíci

      Just check the chemistry of the product. There's not a wide variety of options, so it's likely the exact same stuff.

    • @imaginitivity7853

    I keep my circulation pump on 24/7. Am doing the wrong thing by keeping it on constantly? 🤔

    • @AbouttheHouse0
      @AbouttheHouse0  Před rokem +3

      No won't be a problem. If you choose to turn it on/off remember to run it for 4hrs in every 12 hour period. If you can keep it switched off for 12 hours a day, that'll save you about £12pcm in leccy.

      I just looked it up. It's not cheap. It may appeal for reducing chlorine use, but it's not a replacement. A chemical sanitiser is still required. If you're sensitive to Chlorine, you may find Bromine is less irritating
