    My hot tub is the bane of my life. I shocked water and followed all instructions. Then for three days the ph and alkaline were at max level and even when i lowered the water and added a half fresh water there was no change. I tried ph reducer which did nothing. So i emptied whole hot tub, refilled and the tub still shows MAX alkaline and MAX ph with JUST fresh water, but zero free chlorine ofc. The whole process is just making me want to return hot tub and never bother again

    • @SailingAquila
      @SailingAquila  Před rokem +1

      If your local tap water has high TA and high PH when you add it to the hot tub, PH minus should bring both down if you keep adding it. The PH should start to drop first.

    4:50 i don't like the dispenser idea, because the waterflow will dissolve the tablets waaaaaaaaay faster than when you use the floating dispenser.
    i used to have a small pool, but since 2015 i have a lay z spa and i can tell you that 1 tablet in that dispenser is already way too much, let alone 3 or even more!
    Hell, i would love to see the chlorine level from that tub after 24 hours with that 3 tablets in it! I'll bet anyone that any teststrip will get blown of the scale.
    I use the floating dispenser and start with 1 tablet and when that is dissolved for about 50%, then i add another one, so that way there's always 1- 1,5 tablet in it every day,
    and that is waaaay enough.
    Next thing is that you also need to take care of the Ph level of the water, and that is just simple by adding Ph - or +.
    And you need a special gel that will glue all floating micro parts to it and get sucked into the paper filter. i use a bottle cap a day and flush out the filter every day
    and that way the water stays as clear as tapwater and with no sticky bubbles floating on top when the bubble function is on.
    And i do put the cover on the tub when i'm done, so no sunlight can grow algea, and the heat stays inside and no dirt from outside can't get in.
    And i take a shower first when i'm dirty from work/sweat/tanning oils, and make sure to step in with clean feet and use a fine mazed net to scoop out any hair, or insect
    or other minescule dirt, and about once a week i drain away about 10-20% water and refill with fresh water, because the chemicals and simple paper filter can't clear out
    all the minescule particles and probably bacteria, so that way the water keeps on being refreshed and never gets "old".

      Thanks for the comment. Always interesting to hear how others maintain their tub.
      The ChemConnect is ok vs a float. Not least as I tend to turn the tub off completely when not in use.
      Also, if you close the vents to one notch or completely off, the chlorine dispensed is quite low.

    • @3DPeter
      @3DPeter Před 2 lety

      @@SailingAquila When you shut off the tub after usage, then i can understand why you need 2-3 chlorine tablets, but in my case
      it's too much because my pump stays on 24/7, and that is because i use the tub every day. And it's cheaper to leave it on all the time
      because otherwise the water will cool of at night, and then the next day the heater element needs to make alot of hours to heat up the water
      again.

  • @tinks43
    @tinks43 Před 2 lety

    Added two tablets today and will start off mid way, if Chlorine is high I’ll close the vent further.
    Have found this to be too much in a 4 person Barbados so down to one tablet and open one notch on the ChemConnect.
    Cheers.

One question though - do I leave the chemconnect with the chlorine tablets in the hot tub when using the hot tub, or do I have to take it out when I use it and put it back in once I"m out of the water? Thanks so much!

    Hello
    My pump and heating are on 24/7
    I am using Laz-y spa Paris 806 Liters.
    I am using 20gram chlorine tablets, the one i did put in yesterday was almost gone today, and there is too much chlorine in the lay-z spa, it.s purple when testing, and the ChemConnect was fully closed.
    Questions!
    Is it possible to adjust chlorine to be perfect amount all the time so u can jump into pool whenever u want whit this ChemConnect ?
    Does ur tablet last 5-7 days when pump and heating are running everyday ?
    Will a different brand tablets help maby ?
    I can't understand why 1 tablet and fully closed ChemConnect gives it so much chlorine in the spa :(
    My tablets box says 3 / 4 tablets for 10 000 liters, wich means do i need to use a half one ?

    Hi Adam, great video and information.
    Questions: In using these chlorine tablets…
    1. Do I add the chemconnect with the tablets inside for few hours while heating the tub before next use? Or do I add this after use for a few hours?
    2. Do I still need to add PH minus or PH plus to manage PH levels right?
    3. Is there anything else that can reduce the chlorine levels other than fresh water?
    Thank you in advance

    • @SailingAquila
      @SailingAquila  Před 2 lety

      1. You can adds the tablets immediately after use and leave them in place until you use the tub next time. You may need to adjust the ChemConnect to ensure the rate at which chlorine is added is right.
      2. Once you have the tub up and running, provided you keep chlorine levels correct, you shouldn't have to worry about the PH as it remains fairly stable. Just keep an eye on it when you check the chlorine.
      3. There chlorine levels drop naturally over time, especially with use. To reduce it a small amount, you can run the bubbles with the lid off and it will lower it gradually.
      Hope that helps...

    Hi Adam, I’ve been using these tablets for a while now. I’m having issues where the ph and the the TA keep dropping. Any idea why this could be? Many thanks

    • @SailingAquila
      @SailingAquila  Před 2 lety

      The PH and TA should be relatively stable once you get them right on set up, especially if you're staying on top of the chlorine level too (it acts as a stabiliser).
      Not quite sure what's happening with your water if they keep dropping. Possibly, it's due to how you use the tub and things that are accidentally being added to the water.
      It's important that everyone showers before they use the tub to remove deodorant, make up, etc from skin. And make sure that no-one ever pees in the water!
      Otherwise, stick with what I guess you're doing already and add some PH+ to remedy.

    • @SailingAquila
      @SailingAquila  Před 2 lety +2

    In the video you describe putting the tablets in while the hot water is running, I was wanting to keep the chlorine levels correct in between using the hot tub, So does it work when the water is cold or not? Confused newby

    • @SailingAquila
      @SailingAquila  Před 2 lety +1

      Water temp is not as important with the tablets as the granules. With the granules for chlorine or PH+/- etc, they need to dissolve.
      It’s fine for the water temp to drop off to ambient and the tablets will keep working.

  • @Catmad65

    Hi Adam, I’m a newbie and learning how to get the levels right . I’m having issues with cloudy water after using the tub, I’ve replaced the filter and added a clarifier as I saw this advice from another channel. This didn’t work so I emptied it, refilled and started afresh, in your opinion would using these multifunction tablets be better than just chlorine tablets on their own ?

    • @SailingAquila
      @SailingAquila  Před 2 lety

      They do contain a clarifier, so that may help. If you're keeping you chlorine levels right, it should help it stay clear anyway.
      If it's still getting cloudy with the correct amount of chlorine in the water, it's often caused by things getting into the water from the people using it. This can be make up, deodorant or sun cream etc - always make sure everyone has a shower before getting in.

    • @SailingAquila
      @SailingAquila  Před 2 lety

      Sounds intriguing.
      Not sure these are right for cold water. It needs to be 20 degrees C to dissolve and really you'd want to shock the water first with granules.
      Wasteful as I sounds, think you're better off emptying and refilling after a few uses...
