    I have tried the foam filters that claim to be washable - I CANNOT recommend them to my viewers as the material disintegrates due to the chlorine and bits can get in the heat pump and destroy it.

    I just soak mine in a mop bucket with bleach and water 8hrs or so. Thoroughly rinse and they are like brand new. I would think the rough agitation or the washer would eventually tear/ruin the filter.

    ClearWater sells a filter cleaner, you just submerge it in water add something like 30-50ml and the chemical dissolves any debris, I tested it and it works without tumbling the filters, the only downside is that the solution is 13£ for 1l

    I’d been cleaning mine every day. Wasn’t really convinced they’d still be good after so long but this is interesting.
    Will leave mine in longer now and wash bulk like you’ve shown. Dishwasher tabs are great ways to clean a washing machine too 👍

      @AbouttheHouse0  Před 2 lety +1

      Every day? Blimey, you're keen! After 3-4 weeks a new filter clogs and gives the E02 error, so I figured a fortnight to be a reasonable compromise. A lot will depend on how often you use the tub and how 'dirty' you are.

      I clean mine every use though, put it in a bucket and use a short hose to get in between the pleats. I’ve bought loads of filters cheaply at B&M recently only £4 for two. Maybe I’ll leave them a bit longer now 😊

    Always good to watch your vids. Had my Fiji hot tub 2 weeks now and every two days i get the E02 code and i take the filter out and it is full of white chalky residue, i have cleaned them both and reused them, but i am wondering why i only get two days use before it clogs up and where does it come from. could it be from the heater as we are in a hard water area?
    I found that as soon as it goes E02 i unscrew the filter block, take the filter out and bash it on the ground at an angle, only on the plastic rim, it knocks a lot out and a quick rinse through and pop it back in. Amazed how you get two weeks use before E02. Any advice?

    How often do you change water? Do you leave the hot tub running at all times, even not in use? Should I turn it off if I only use in the weekends F-Sun? Thanks

    • @AbouttheHouse0
      @AbouttheHouse0  Před 2 lety +1

      I change the water when it needs changing. Tyically every 2-3 months. Keep up the chlorine and shower before going in the tub and change the filters regularly.
      It is more economical to leave the tub 'ticking over' generally. If you only use it at weekends I would set the temp at 30 after your last Sunday use and put it back up to 38-40 Friday morning.
      The big ticket saving though is getting a thermal cover - the savings I quote in this video czcams.com/video/2EWpJEymjHM/video.html are slightly on the pessimistic side. It will pay for itself in about 3 months easily. Insulate underneath too czcams.com/video/N45mC8BGvBM/video.html

    hi mate. your hot tub videos are great and have been a big help. So simple to understand. I was just wondering though, is it more cost effective to leave it on all the time, rather than , turning it off and having to reheat from the start again > Hope that makes sense.

      Good question mate

    • @AbouttheHouse0
      @AbouttheHouse0  Před 2 lety +4

      Your question makes perfect sense. It is more economical to keep the tub heater on all the time, but set the target temp to about 4-5C below usual usage temp when it is not in use (and knock it back up 6 hours before using again).
      The big ticket saving is a thermal cover. czcams.com/video/N45mC8BGvBM/video.html
