  • In this video, I've talked only English since I do not speak English a lot these days and I want to keep up with it or even improve so I thought it might help. However, if you feel inconvenience with me speaking English, let me know since obviously it isn't great and I can not tell express 100% of what I would have been able to express in Japanese.
    So, many people told me I should eat Frikandel with mayonnaise, ketchup and onions.
    Here you go this is how it went.
    Btw, I just realised the lightning is pretty bad I should film when it is still bright outside. Learned new thing.

      @@jinfromjapanI thought of something traditional in the meantime, it is called "erwtensoep" (a thick soup of split peas), often eaten with a slice of roggebrood (rye bread). But I saw you already had lots of other recommendations, I hope you don't get overwhelmed haha

    3:04 Okay, here's a trick that nobody told you about: Dutch "snack bars" will cut the sausage BEFORE frying. This will make the sausage open up and set during frying, giving a lot more space for the condiments without squeezing them out.
    Other little-known details are in the sauces - they are not quite ketchup and mayo. While some places do use tomato ketchup, it's really supposed to be curry ketchup (try Hela curry gewurz or Heinz curry sauce - my personal preference would be for the former). As is the case with Japanese kewpie mayo, the Dutch have their own version of mayo ("fritessaus") which has a specific flavour profile.

      A special frikadel splitter is often used for that. Sometimes the snackbars are being lazy and they serve the frikadel speciaal unsplit. That’s a pet peeve of mine.

    no there is no horse meat in it. it contains chicken meat and pork. With some certain herbs that are added you have the frikandel.

  • @rickswart1313
    @rickswart1313 Před rokem

    frikandel is made mainly from porc and chicken meat and very rarely with a little horsemeat , breadcrumbs and spices, you can also put the frikandel in a bread bun

    Sad to see you leave the country, it's a bummer that they didn't extend your contract. I hope that us Dutchies didn't give you a bad view of how we are, we can be quite direct and rebellious people, though we mean well. Also, your English is quite good, I've spoken with Japanese people before and they seem to have trouble speaking it and I respect them for trying so hard, as it's quite a switch from speaking Japanese to English. Like some of the others say, you should try a "Kapsalon" next, it's Dutch food, but a lot of Turkish people seem to be selling them. Hope you are doing well!

    really craving frikandel speciaal now... you did well making one! like someone else said, you could try kapsalon next if you want to. :) it looks kind of messy and gross (it’s basically fast food) but it tastes really good!! especially with a lot of sambal and preferably after a night out lol. (by the way, i noticed that abroad in japan featured a thumbnail of one of your videos in his most recent video haha).

    Try nice winterfoods: Hutspot, Boerenkool stampot, other kinds of stampot. Indonesian/dutch foods. Nice Carbonade with veggies and potatoes. Try the 50 kinds of jams and hagelslags we have to out on bread, and the 100s of kinds of cheeses :) Try smoked eel. (expensive now ).

    You forgot you had haring and kibbeling. :P
    You could try uitsmijter (it's 2 slices of toasted bread with butter and a mixed omelette. The omelette you can mix with whatever you like, some people like it with bacon, others like it with mushroom and onions. Some salt and pepper on the side). Eat it with knife and fork.
    It's a nice and hearty meal :D
