  • Joseph's Dream l Voddie Baucham
    Genesis 37:1-11:
Jacob lived in the land of his father’s sojournings, in the land of Canaan.
2 These are the generations of Jacob.
Joseph, being seventeen years old, was pasturing the flock with his brothers. He was a boy with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Joseph brought a bad report of them to their father. 3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than any other of his sons, because he was the son of his old age. And he made him a robe of many colors. 4 But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peacefully to him.
5 Now Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers they hated him even more. 6 He said to them, “Hear this dream that I have dreamed: 7 Behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and stood upright. And behold, your sheaves gathered around it and bowed down to my sheaf.” 8 His brothers said to him, “Are you indeed to reign over us? Or are you indeed to rule over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.
9 Then he dreamed another dream and told it to his brothers and said, “Behold, I have dreamed another dream. Behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” 10 But when he told it to his father and to his brothers, his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves to the ground before you?” 11 And his brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the saying in mind.

I'm at awe over your message primarily because Father told me years ago to "get out of the driver seat and rather be a passenger while He drives the path of my journey". Sounds simple but when applied, it's far from simple. Fully surrendering like Joseph did is different than just trying to live right. Total submission is in my heart (the mind lol, to be clear, not the muscle) yet I've been a smoker for 30yrs. Hard to admit yet true. This Wednesday starts the Passover and though I know we're not bound to the law, we are bound to rid ourselves of leaven (sin) and THAT'S what I'm asking His help to accomplish henceforth why this beautiful message is a divine appointment in this next phase of my journey with the help of The Holy Spirit... I thank you for how you presented this Word and the role its played in motivating me as I go to battle with my flesh. You're so right, its not prison nor equivalent to being falsely accused, I can do this and with His help, I will succeed. I pray this too is an encouragement to many and I look forward to how much more I'm able to accomplish for His glory once I'm set free! Praise to Our Father!

I never thought about the fact that Jesus does not come from the line of Rachel/Joseph

    - Providence is used in substitution for good luck but that’s a misunderstanding of what the providence of God is.
    - Providence of God is not about luck or things turning out in your favour. Providence is about God being in control of his creatures and his creation.

I’m the biggest baby lover you’ll ever meet but in church while people are trying to hear… please go to the nursery. ❤

Maybe they didn't have a nursery. But seriously, if that small amount of time the child was crying (the kid wasn't even that loud) deterred you from hearing this message, you need some serious help.

I am confused by this. If we have free will than how does God control what happens in our lives? So what would be the reason that there are people that go through horrible things such as a childs life being shattered by a trusted family member molesting them? Do you know what that does to a person's life? So you're saying God made this person be a molester and made that child go through all of the emotional turmoil and disillusionment of what life is supposed to be and struggling to understand why or how God that you always loved and trusted would allow that to happen to you? So your saying that God allows it? That makes no sense to me. If God is our all loving father. As a parent you don't want anything horrible such as that to happen to your child. You wouldn't sit and let your daughter be raped to teach her a lesson in dressing or acting with promiscuity. So what's the purpose and the lesson in God allowing something like being molested happen? Or by the way you are describing it, actually cause it to happen. Then you aren't supposed to sin but having something like that happen to you can lead to a lot of bad decisions throughout your life . Again if we have free will and WE CHOOSE what we do, how does that make sense that God controls it? That makes no sense to me. In my mind there is evil and if something such as that happens to you it's your internal belief that God is with you and that's how you survive it, it takes years to get to a point in life where you can actually feel better about yourself after that, So you are this innocent little kid, Love your parents, life is good and then boom one day it all ends because you have a parent that decides they are suddenly going to do things that should never be done and completely shatter You and your perception of them and life and then you grapple with this confusion, pain and spend your life trying to figure out why God would allow this to happen to you? Then go through hell for years trying to understand and work your way though life and you only by the grace and guidance of God you somehow survive and 30 yrs later get to a point where you feel somewhat ok with yourself. Then to hear preachers etc... Say that God meant for that to happen ,,,, my mind can't comprehend it, i don't believe God actually directs that to happen i believe because of the fall of man things like that happen. The love, guidance and belief in God if what helps you get through it. If yiu are saying that God put that circumstance in your life and made that person choose to hurt you than you could also argue that a gay person doesn't choose that. I absolutely believe that a person makes those life decisions and they are sins. Not only sins but abominations. We aren't supposed to commit sins and we are punished for sins and Christ died on the cross so that we would be forgiven and have eternal life. So how would it be that God already had planned that a person would either choose to commit something so horrendous or decide that you are a person that he determines it will happen to.? That would suggest that we don't make our own decisions. I'm truly trying to understand this so please if anyone comments say something useful. That's like saying God already had planned that a child that is kidnapped, raped and murdered it was meant that way because that's the plan God had for their life? I don't think so. Also what about people that go through life and basically nothing tragic like that happens in their life? God just decided that they would have basically a charmed life? Confused.....,
