Their is a slight error in the narration by The Print. Mr Deve Gowda was Prime-Minister in 1996-97, while still being a part of Janata Dal albeit as a compromise candidate, which was a national party. JD(S) was formed only in July 1999 but has remained a State level party ever since its birth. So by being a PM Mr Deva Gowda did not really lose much in Karnataka. The fact is that the JD(S) has always been a somewhat marginal player and more or less on the sidelines, even within the State of Karnataka. The vote or seat share gained by them has been much short of what is needed to be a dominant party.

I agree with all Mr Shekhar is saying . Thank you. However, Couple of points here to note. If a political party has no Siddhanta , except power grabbing through caste politics, it is bound to die. So whether scandal or not this party would have collapsed. Secondly Devegowda never realized his clan is not smart as jhats of North or Reddys of South.
It's not possible for any govt to stop crime like sexual assault which take place inside the four walls in a private residence/pavillion but it is possible for every govt to arrest the perpetrator once the case comes to light. In any case, if the perpetrator flee from the country after he is being accused in the case or roaming scot free then the seriousness of the incumbent govt to let women live freely is in question.
So much of analysis from both sides of the spectrum, but no one utters a word of support or commiserates with the victims. This was a heinous crime and we can go arguing about which party is in the right. Shame on our leaders for politicizing and our social fabric for not speaking up against abuse.

Nothing will happen to him. Just another case will be running against in court. This suspension will be revoked. If he wins this election again then nobody can harm him. This is not a rape case but a sexual assault so difficult for any one to prove it. He will get bail immediately. @22:54 Shekhar ji - picking a rather different point from episode. Shakuni had some good traits. You are a scholar yourself but if you have not, pease read Ami Ganathra's Mahabharata Unravelled. At one point Shakuni himself suggested to give half of the kingdom to Pandav. We have not seen it in the BR Chopra's version. Also some misconception on Karna will get cleared (not that you mentioned it but assuming like most of us have of Karna)
