Our 4 year old Gets Glasses | Austin goes SKYDIVING!

- Gideon got glasses a few months ago… here is the video of when he tried them on for the first time. It made me tear up watching this again! He couldn’t believe how well he could see with them. He has done so good wearing them too!
Also, Austin SKYDIVING! He loves skydiving and we love watching him. Lots of people have asked me if I have gone skydiving with him and NO, I haven’t and NO! I don’t have any desire to. Lol Maybe one of these days Austin will talk me into it.
We always use the phrase, "On your face or in the case!" All our kids have needed glasses pretty young (the youngest was about 10 months old) and that phrase helped them remember how to care for their glasses. Also, ALWAYS get the warranty!!!!
Miraflex frames with the band are the best little kids. They are super durable and also the band helps them stay on while running and playing. What a cutie pie Giddin is in his glasses!
Awe. I love this! Seeing him look around, and notice things clearly for the first time. Comparing how he sees with and without glasses.
My first granddaughter had glasses at 18 months old. They made such a huge positive difference with her vision, that we never had a problem with her taking them off, or losing them, or abusing them. Because she saw things so well, and so clear she was recognizing things immediately, even in the doctors office. She recognized the flowers on my shirt, she was asking to read a book, and pointing out butterflies. It was amazing.
I remember vividly when I got my first pair of glasses. I was in 4-5 grade. I could actually see the leaves on the trees. Before glasses everything looked like colored cotton balls from a distance.

For glasses on younger kids, get them in the bendable rubber plastic. And they fit better and not so big! There awesome!!! Way to go Gideon 👍

As someone who has had glasses since 3 those glasses are ugly. Nike makes sports glasses with a guarantee with a replacement . And look better!
yes the miraflex glasses. If you get the rectangle shape they look like regular glasses and they are so comfy for them, they won't break or fall off. Mom of 4 rough boys that all wear glasses for over 15 years now.
The glasses look too big. They should bend behind the ear to help them stay on. The place you bought them should have helped you find a frame that better fits his face. My daughter has had glasses since she was about 4 yr. She sees the ophthalmologist every year and gets a new pair of glasses. We really had no need to buy her glasses so big that she needed to grow into them.

You can get a "safety strap" to keep them from falling off! One of my girls started wearing glasses at 18 months...not a single problem 👍 It is...a positive thing.
I thought the same thing. A "safety strap" would be perfect to help keep his glasses on.
I agree with the bendable plastic frames! They’re wonderful! My husband made the rhyme “if they’re not on you’re face, they’re in the case” which helped our kiddos too
I'm actually really encouraged seeing this. When my daughter was in Kindergarten, we found out she needed glasses and even needed a heavy prescription for astigmatism. I cried because I felt so bad that I didn't catch it earlier. I had no idea!! She's in third now and does great with the glasses. I'm glad Gideon is doing well too!
He is such a sweetheart. He's just speechless taking it all in. You are such a great mother and father to them!

@@tijay8507 lol everything!. The first time I ordered sooo many years ago I was flat broke. So, of course I break my glasses. With my script I was paying about $750 which was the same as a million dollars to me. A friend told me about the site and I thought it was too good to be true. At the time with shipping I could get a pair for $15.00. I was so scared when I ordered thinking I might have wasted $15.00 which I could ill afford to lose. I waited with anxiety and they arrived a week later. I opened the package and when I put them on I started crying. I could see perfectly. Now that time has moved on and I can get my glasses anywhere I won't go anywhere but Zenni. Why throw $$ away?

Gideon is precious! I wore glasses from an early 6 yrs old and my problem as a child was keeping up with them and not misplacing them. We finally ended up putting them on an eyeglass chain. I was so active they would fly off my face or I would take them off to wipe my face and leave them behind. I was forever in trouble about them. That chain saved me.
The way Gideon looked around when he first put them on you could see the wonder in his eyes that he could really see for the first time. Such a cutie!

I remember that feeling as well with my youngest son. I took him to the eye doctor for the first time when he was 4 and was told he would need glasses by the time he was school age. So, one year later he got his first pair of glasses. His eyes were so big looking at everything so intently for hours. He said, “The trees are so beautiful!” more times than I could count on the way home. I was so sad for him that he hadn’t seen anything clearly before and so happy for him he finally could see clearly.
My best glasses tip is to order more on zenni. We ordered my young daughter several pairs because they were only $10 a pair and they are super cute. She loves that she can change with each outfit. Also by the end of her first year of wear glasses 2 of them had been broken so we were thankful to have 3 pairs. I order my glasses from there to and they are good quality!

My son was three and he had the same symptoms. I worked for an optometrist and would recommend a couple of things. I noticed the optician didn’t fit him, they should have adjusted the glasses to fit his face and rest behind his ears. That will keep him from fiddling with them and trying to keep them on. My son grew to love his glasses and didn’t feel like himself without them. He would look over the top of them from time to time in the first week, so I would say “oh no, where’d you go?!” And when he’d look up at me through them I’d say “there you are!” The key is to have a great fit and he’ll keep them on and not even realize they’re on. 😊 he’s 16 now and we’ve only had one time when they broke. The other bit advise is to get a good quality frame. It might cost a bit more upfront but you’ll save in the long run.

That was cute seeing him look around for the first time with them on. I honestly didn't even realized how near sighted I was until I got glasses lol. Though I just leave mine off half the time unless I am at work or driving since all the stuff I do it up close anyway. I Hope it is going well and he is keeping them on, and will not need them after a few years! :D

My daughter received her first glasses (for "lazy-eye) when she was almost 4.....she was excited also, at first ! Like your little fellow, seeing rocks and leaves and books for her was great...but soon she would start " losing " them or " forgetting " where she put them....which we would find them buried in the flowers, under a car tire in hopes they would be ran over, not quite flushed down the toilet, in the chicken pen and even in the oven ( melted )... quite a few adventures of "reward for finding glasses "... A few years of gently reminding her to always wear them or put them in their case, she got better... her eyes look perfectly straight and she has had a normal life, drives her car ,raised a family and is a excellent artist. So happy for your son !!! Blessings....

Our oldest daughter has been wearing glasses since she was 22 months old . She’s now 20 and a sophomore at Oral Roberts in Tulsa . If he takes them off always look in the toy box 😂. Loved the skydiving footage

Definitely get the bendable rubber frames with the strap on them. My daughter has them and they work great for very active kids.
So awesome that he is so positive and sees the difference!!! Praise GOD!!! My Only advice would be as a granmother who has worn them since 23 is that they look to big. I myself have a child size head and wear child size glasses and hats. Very challenging! I understand all the "fit" issues. That combined with watching the kiddos in Sunday school would say he needs a much better fit for his comfort. They also make them in a goggle type for the very active kiddos and they are more heavy duty it seems. God bless you Joy & Austin. Your family give so much encouragement and joy to the world! XO
Good Luck Gideon!! Our son was tested in 3rd grade and he was so happy to be able to see with glasses!! His were bendable and fashioned to move a little if a ball or other object was to hit them.

Two out of my three kiddos have glasses so far. My daughter got hers at 17 months and my son got his at 14 months. We shall see about my baby, so far so good and he is 13 months.

Your children are beautiful! Gideon looks so adorable in his glasses. I started wearing glasses when I was two years old. I am now in my 40ties. I tried to feed them to our family dog when I was three years old. Get one of those strap things that keep the glasses with him.
