Well bugger me timbers. Maguire losing 7-1 is sign that this match is practically over. Gilbert is playing next level.

Maguire as usual last couple of years gets to WC quarter then falls apart completely (2019 6-13 Trump 2022 5-13 O’Sullivan now I’d be surprised he gets to a 3rd session)

Is it me or does this 20 odd Calendar event these days mean that the people who do the majority of the playing (and winning) are "tapped for juice" when the WC rolls around?
Was much better imho when WC qually's were in March. Nowadays we are seeing more & more bang average players who have done nothing all season (Jones, Gilbert & Bingham to a lesser extent) but get through qualifying & then almost fluke their way to the QF's & sometimes beyond.
I honestly find the WC a bit of a Borefest these days. WC should be like Motor racing each event being like a GP, However gets the most points is WC then.

Interesting point... I think the qualifiers are now more likely to get up a head of steam and beat their seeded opponents given that they have to play a minimum of two best of 19 matches to reach the main stage, whereas a seed will come in cold with possibly no tournaments play since before the Tour Championship and potentially not having played a best of 19 all season. Doesn't really suit the players who've earnt the right to be seeded with their results over the last 2 years.
I understand what you're saying about the qualifiers "fluking" their way to the QFs - the only qualifier still in it who has played a top 8 seed prior to the QF stage is Gilbert, and even that was against an ill/"Crucible-cursed" Luca Brecel - but you can only beat what's put in front of you and both Jones and Bingham are now holding their own against Trump and Ronnie.
Maybe the ranking system needs a bit of reviewing, particularly the weighting of the WSC in ranking points. For example, Brecel sits 4th in the world provisionally. Whether anyone thinks he's only worse than 3 players in the world is certainly up for debate but isn't the point I'm making - it's that when the points from the world title he won fall off next April, he won't even be in the top 24 as things stand. A player like Jones, Bingham or Maguire only needs to reach the SF stage and they're knocking on the door of the top 16. It's the showpiece event of the sport, yes - but it's one tournament!

Spot on Fella. I am in the middle of a House move so Ive watched very little so far. I thought I would have my interest piqued when Selby went out but then JOC put up a poor(ish) performance against Wilson. I wouldn't be unhappy if Kyren won, He's a model Pro. Same with Bingham, It's just seems to be a pattern that people who do Jack S**t all year seem to go deep. Like Selby did last Year tbh. But at least he's a consistent established player.
I suppose I wanted to seeds 1-8 contest the Quarters, But fortunately Sport doesn't work like that
Not sure whether ROS is the nailed on favourite as mooted. He is inconsistent session to session these days. Hopefully he can bring out his implacable best.
