Source Connect I've had for a few years here in the UK and I've found that it's mostly USA and Canadian clients who insist on using it and then only for high-end jobs. UK and Europe clients seem to be happy with lo-fi connection methods such as Zoom and Google Meet even though I offer Source Connect...no matter what system though, everyone still asks for the recording done in my own studio sent after the directed session, so a part of me thinks "what's the point!" As a newbie VO artist I am struggling to find the best sources to find gigs. I've had minimal success on sites like Fiverr and Upwork, and a few bites on ACX but nothing concrete. I do love voice over acting and I know it's a marathon not a sprint, but my confidence feels a bit shot. What advice can you give an aspiring artist in a slump? Many thanks in advance!
The problem with sites where you are competing with others is that it can get you down in stretches when you don't get work. It's still valuable being there on these platforms though. You'll get more feedback from contacting individual production companies, Podcast play companies, video producers and so on, and when there's a job that fits your voice style, you will often get regular work without them asking others to audition. Aim to send out 5 emails a day and don't forget the world is your target...most countries need English language media! Good luck!
