The toasted french bread looked good before it was ground up, so I would want to definitely toast some extra slices and spoon the soup on top of it as I eat my soup. 😁

Well, i guess beanstew is everywhere nearly the same. Iam from Austria and my mother made it in almost the same way. And my former mother in law, from Turkey also. I think beanstew was a poorman's dish and is all over Europe. The use of fried bread to thicken up the stew is a great way to use up old bread, it also up's the taste. I like this bean stew a lot. Mmmh yummy ❤👍👍👍
It reminds me of kuru fasulye (the one your Turkish mother-in-law most likely cooked).
Theres like 45 kind of beanstews in Spain , one different from each region.

We have several white bean recipes in South USA. One we add chicken(no potato), another we add ham(with potato). Delicious with a sweet corn bread!

Spanish bean (and chick pea) soup/stews know no end of simple variation to taste great. They are always a favourite of mine and usually (amazingly) just the starter for a lunch menu del dia. In Spain they usually have some meat in them or bacalao (salt cod). Kudos to you, my friend, for highlighting the fact that they can be equally good meat free.

I just discovered your channel and I am so delighted - I moved to the Yucatan peninsula 2 years ago and love it here, but it can be hard to find the ingredients and vegetables that I am accustomed to cooking with, coming from a very different climate.
