- May 17th, 2024, my friends and I head out to climb Half Dome in the off season with the cables down and no permits necessary. This hike is no joke. We set out at 7:00 AM and got back at 12:00 Midnight, hiking between 21.5 to 23 miles and gaining over 5,000 Ft. of elevation. To date, it's the hardest hike I've done, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Yosemite National Park is one of the most epic places on Earth. With this being my first time here, I cannot wait to go back! Thank you for watching! Please like this video and consider subscribing to my channel. Thanks again!

Amazing journey 👏🏼
Thank you 🙌
That was intense. Good Job!
Thanks for watching!
Rough trail it definitely beat me up last week, just finished Angeles Landing today!
Thanks for watching! Angels Landing is on my list this Fall!
Great video . Amazing footage..
Big Pow! T
Thank you!
Just finished the dome last week with cables up. The hard part is the distance combined with significant elevation gain. Exhausting. Temperatures were in the low 90's. Bring no less than 3 liters of water with a plan to filter and refill additional water in the Merced River near LYV camp on the way up and down. Nice video.
Yes, I took 3 liters and a Nalgene and still filtered my bottle twice. It was exhausting, but I would go again in a heartbeat. Thanks for watching!
That's a great hike. Started out at 2am so we were at the cables around 7am.
Did it the first time when I was 12👍
@@IdaholifeV That’s awesome! Thanks for watching!
The one thing that is kind of cool of cables down is that the lack of posts means that you can use a prussik for a bit of safety.
Looks like you had really nice weather for it.
Yes, the ability to do a prussik loop was nice. Thanks for watching!
Wowza
Thanks for watching! I appreciate your patronage!
Whoa dude! That looks insane. Big kudos to you.
The hike was intense, surprisingly climbing the cables was that bad.
the cables looks steep in video n from afar but is not really bad at all..
@@josephsaeteurn9158 yea, the footage from the GoPro makes it look way steeper than it actually is. It’s not that bad, really.
nice good ❤ 👍
Thank you so much!
Drop the theme music. Otherwise really cool.
Thanks for watching, and your feedback. I really appreciate it!
Good man I was hoping you used a Prusik for backup and I see you did.
Thank you for watching! Yes, definitely used a prusik loop!
Why do they take the cables down ? Nice video btw; thanks for sharing!
They lay the cables down in the off season. Instead of being propped up on rails, the cables are just lying on the granite. You don’t need a permit during this time.
Because people are dumb and will try to climb the rock when its Icy.
@@seanspangler7385 great point, even though you can climb during the off season, there is a lot of snow and ice. Definitely use caution. If you do go during the off season, late spring, just before the park installs the rails is best because most of the snow and ice has melted.
What difference ..cables up and cables down...?
When the cables are up, the park installs metal post drilled into the rock that lifts them up about 3 feet off the surface along with boards that lay across the post. It makes it a lot easier to climb and the boards give you a place to stand and rest.
Going down the cables harder than coming up.
Going down was actually much easier!
@@CoasttoCoastOutdoorAdventures Different strokes! Cheers!
