This game is a masterpiece but it's not immediately apparent. I tried getting into the game several times and fell off. 6 years later I finally completed it and now its one of my favorite stories in gaming. Truly unique and insightful story, one of the best

The memory backup is like altered carbon. You backup your memories like saving data so if you die your memories can be downloaded into another android at the bunker, another 2b and 9s
Yay, new Automata fan. I hope you treasure the story-telling as much as many others have. This and Replicant/Gestalt are truly special.
Man, I was sooooo sure she was gonna die during the tutorial, she was sprinting towards that game over, and then she kept on 2 hits from death for the entire second part of the boss fight XD
Emi Evans, the main vocalist for the entire soundtrack made up a language for the music of this game. She calls it Chaos language and its supposed to sound like all of the languages of earth but long after language, and people have left the planet. Shes also from my city which is awesome. I saw her perform in London. There are different vocals recorded between her and another french vocalist. Its probably my all time favourite score. No other game as as high of a ratio of fantastic tracks to average or worse ones. There are too many beautiful themes.

I started playing computer games on the ZX Spectrum, and this is the best game I've ever played. The further you get into it, the more awesome it becomes.
I haven't played this game, but have heard only good things. Will live vicariously through your playthrough haha
OH, yeah, also... the English dub might as well be the original. Imo, but it's a common opinion for a reason.
In fact the VAs have a full playthrough on CZcams... their first time seeing it. It's wonderful. They're also JUST AS GOOD as anyone in FF16...:)

Use Lock-on when firing the pod weapons. Makes hitting targets much easier. Also, if you're not locking on you can move in one direction with the left stick while aiming the gun in a different direction with the right stick. This applies to everything in the game. And I mean everything.

Japanese is good, but there's a lot of dialogue while you're fighting, which is sometimes difficult to catch up with the subtitles.
Absolutly. English is the way to go since it was superbly done. All the raw emotions were very well depicted

This game is pretty strange, but also fascinating... much like the series director, Yoko Taro.
Also, yep that was Morgana's VA (Cassandra Lee Morris) as the Operator, and and the voice of your Pod is D.C. Douglas, who voiced Kamoshida and Legion in Mass Effect.
This is the third robot partner he's voiced, the other one being the mech AI Valimar from the Trails of Cold Steel games.
I'm excited. That being said, you would appreciate a lot more if you started with Gestalt or Replicant (if you really want graphics. But Replicant has less impactful music because of the arrangements.)

Yeah, I think I like replicant better. But the Nier/Drakengard music in general is sooooooo good.
Ugh why do people always start with Automata when the first game is more accessible than ever now thanks to the remake? Experiencing the original game first enhances Automata so much.
Because it's more well known.
