    When Jeremy Clarkson said that the LFA was his favorite car, that said a lot to me, so many people have raved about this car over the years, too bad it wasn't as loved when it first came out, but it's getting the recognition now.

      In case you haven’t noticed by now Jeremy Clarkson often just says things for the shock value. I’ll never forget when he did an early review of the then brand new R35 GTR raving about how amazing its performance was and surprisingly how it was alive and raw ..... then a year later did another review and said it’s like a video game and I feel no emotion whatsoever. He also did the same thing with the 997 Turbo admitting it was one outstanding car and then in a comparison with an R8 saying how bad the 911 was and can’t understand why everyone like Hammond loves it. Basically the LFA was unloved (other than it’s glorious engine) so that’s why Clarkson did a typical Clarkson and took the unpopular opinion to profess it was the best car ever created because that was a polarizing opinion.

    • @gpaje
      @gpaje Před 2 lety +12

      @@jameswillard1 That's not true, Clarkson had a lot of seat time in the LFA both in the US tour episode, but also in the UK. He actively told people for a couple years it was his favorite car including other non Top Gear presenters who would mention it as well. It wasn't like the car was hated during its time, just not popular, his declaration as his favorite wasn't shocking at all. Also, he didn't say it was his favorite car ever, of course that opinion has to change. Yes, he raved about the GTR, but never once did he call it his favorite.

    Cool fact, Lexus still made the LFA pass all its standard durability testing to 200k miles like the rest of the vehicles in its lineup. Even though they knew their customers would probably never ever reach it. It is one of the most reliable supercars ever made to be driven. Lots of people slept of them but those that didnt are now laughing on their way to the bank as they sell their cars for 2-4x the price they paid for them. Will never get bored of seeing, hearing and talking about LFA's, somewhat of an obsession. The automated manual was chosen for reliability and it was discussed in an interview, that even in its 'Supercar', Lexus/ Toyota still wanted it to be in line with their ethos. A DCT gearbox did not met the criteria for reliability and thus the auto-manual was chosen. I hope one makes its way into your collection :)

I definitely want a Dino when I cash out my bitcoin.. I'll only drive it maybe 5 times a year.. and put it back in storage. But the LFA you can dog the shit out of it and not worry about it falling apart! That's Japanese engineering.. just look at how reliable and powerful the 2jz gte motor is.. it was over engineered in the 90s and it's being used today for engine swaps. It's a Yamaha Toyota collaboration. And its damn near bulletproof. So I'll stick to Japanese engineering because they are reliable and they still hold their value.

    This car is most definitely an underestimated super car which one day due to the lack of popularity when released and rarity is going to explode in value! Most def an investment opportunity and if I could afford one I would buy in a heartbeat.

    Tim, besides buying an LFA, you need to update the intro. Cameras dont make noise anymore. The DLSR's are gone, along with the mirrors that made that noise. We all shoot mirrorless now, and electronic shutters dont make noise. The LFA is, and always will be a desirable classic that sounds amazing!

    Yes the LFA does have one of the best sounding engine. Until you hear the Cosworth V12 in Gordon Murray's T50 at 12k! I've only heard these on video, though, the best I can remember in real time was the Aventador SVJ. Love those shades btw, perfect color for that LFA :)

    real car enthusiast buy cars because they love them, what they represent, the technical engineering that went Into it.
    if you're not going to buy a car because you're worried that the price might depreciate then you're not an enthusiast.
    a real enthusiast I will buy a car and maintain it no matter the not worry about how much it might lose.
    a lot of the LFA was badge snobbery if I could have I would have bought one a soon as it was released

    The people who could afford the car didn’t really know what this car was when it came out. Majority of those that knew and wanted one, couldn’t afford it. It’s a crazy dilemma.
