- Well, this is the first Stanton product in a long time. Stanton was a huge name in DJing back in the 90s, but fell by the wayside. Does the STX stack up? In this quick review, we demo the unit and talk through all the features, pros/cons, and express two very different opinions, to help you decide if this portable turntable is right for you.

I'm glad somebody brought this up. I've been a fan of the original PTO1, and I've been waiting for an upgrade to that, such as the built-in thumb drive recorder. Because I'd like to digitize the final that is not available on streaming. I also like scratching, but not on 7 inch disks. I ordered this machine not knowing, and when I found out I sent it back. When will we get the ultimate portable with recording feature and magnetic cartridge, probably never I give up. Great video Phil thank you
You're welcome, glad to help.
i have been using stanton dj gear since the scs4 dj was released. still using the scs 4dj to this day and have it updated firmware and works great. good video phil and review and demo.
Thanks for sharing
@@digitaldjtips your welcome
Steve makes me want to buy your scratching course.
Thank you for clearing up that 12" issue!
(Strange the info it couldn't be found in any advertisement ...)
Glad to help!It is indeed strange that they don't make this clear.
I love scratching but still enjoy listening to 12â so I got the pt01 scratch, which is smaller but plays 12â. The Stanton does look better for scratching tho with the full fader and the speaker sounds louder.
hey um does this use a genuine chuo denshi cz800 cartridge can you like take a look to see if it's made in japan
The reloop spin was an upgrade of the numark pt, the stanton is the upgrade of the reloop spin :D . its all you need as a scratch dj. It has everything. Im not a devoted scratch dj, but i would like to have one of these for practicing and for "summer street scratch play" :D. I have not testet it yet, but soon :D :D... Porta-blism đ€Ł ...im not native english speaker, but...how do you say that the correct way? :D. Nice video man!!!
Cool, thanks
Is it only meant for a left handed scratch DJ?
As someone who learned how to scratch in the mid-90s on belt-driven turntables you just kind of got to give it a tad bit of a push at the end of your scratch you'll get it the more you play with it. And as far as it being a toy I think it's pretty cool cuz now I can cut while I'm in the car on a road trip. but I also wouldn't take this in the studio or pull it on stage with somebody lol
Yeah you're definitely the target audience
@@digitaldjtips ordered one yesterday
That said⊠For those with home studios and limited real estate it could be a problem solver for getting samples and cuts into your desktop sampler.
People forget about the Headache Sound OMNI....
I LOVE mine! Review is up on my channel if anyone wants to know more about the rare option most people are afraid to order due to currency conversion and turnaround time.
Does the vinyl audio from your STX filter out the lower frequencies? I wanted to sample 7â & 45s but noticed that the low end is missing as compared to my other standard turntables or the Bluetooth connection using the same songs.
The audio quality is not going to be close to any half decent standard turntable, so for ripping this is a bad choice
@@digitaldjtips thanks for your response. Not looking for high qualityâŠjust looking for anyone experiencing frequency absence below the 80Hz range. I started deejaying in 94 and our funds did not allow for high quality at that timeâŠour talent had to compensate. Just recreating that feel by sampling this device i to my SP404 (heck I might even record it to a high bias cassette tape and not master it). Thatâs my kinda Hip-Hop. I think the kids call it LoFi today đ
I must admit,we need a portable turntable with a mixture of Reloop Spin,Numark and this Stanton, the crossfader on the Numark is an absolute joke, the Spin well the travel is huge on the fader, this fader is the best out of the bunch, all could do with a metal platter not the plastic one, thatâs probably the first thing to do and if you have the money perhaps a third party fader, maybe a Jesse Dean setup but by then the cost will on par with a cheap direct drive turntable set up in your bedroom,oh and of course over time the belt will stretch which will need sorting out, nevertheless, these are great for the new to the scene turntablists
Thanks for your thoughts, some good points there!
does this have a built-in amplifier for installing a different cartridge ?
no
Mine just stopped spinning . The play light won't light up either . The only light that flashes is the Bluetooth light đą
Sorry to hear that
I was keen and n board until you said about the 12 inch thing.
Iâll stick with my Pt01.
I scratch with 7â, but I also like to plug it into my Maschine and sample from random 12â records so itâs really a shame.
Yeah it makes it a totally niche product
I've heard about the fluttering of audio playback while using the slowest levels of ultra pitch and I got one with the same problem. Is there any remedy for this? Would a firmware update help this??.. i think not. Any ideas? It's the only problem with this otherwise great table, imo. Seriously, amy answers?
Firmware update? Nah, unfortunately it is what it is with these mechanical devices.
Would you say most all, speaking of STX only, have this issue? Mine has a not5icable warbling sounding at slower speeds.
I bought th STX last month. Worked fine last night. I plug it in like normal today and it will not power up. Yes I've trouble shot everything. Unbelievable! I'm extremely BUMMED!!!!
Probably should of picked a different brand?
Sorry to hear that
I have the Stanton and the noise coming from the platter and motor when I scratch is so loud it drives me crazy đ€
I guess that comes with the territory!
same here :(
Mine does the same thing
Nearly got caught out then as I was looking for a portable deck for sample gathering. Just as you said actually with regards to charity shops etc. Câest la vie. Stanton missed a trick there if you ask me.
Our current favourite is the Stokyo Record Mate RM-1B
@@digitaldjtips thanks. i hadnt had a link to this. and im wanting a portable deck for finding 45's. this seems accurate for that..
with modern technology u could get a motor that would torque a vinyl through your head đ

InMusic has destroyed the Stanton turntable history...
Omg it's toys.... Still not so development.
To be fair, it looks like a fisherprice device. I'm sure there's a market for these, but looking at the steep 330 euro pricetag, I don't see any point of getting these over the Pioneer PLX500, which is 339 euro. By the end of this year I'm in the market for either a new controller or a Serato DVS mixer and two turntables, so unless these things drop to 150 a piece, it's not for me. But that's personal of course. Stanton has always been very nice and well built, but aren't they all Audio Technica inside ? I mean, AT is the manufacterer of basically all known brands (Pioneer, Technics, Stanton, Audiotech).
It is a specialist thing aimed at a niche of DJs for whom it makes sense, in a way the PLX500 wouldn't. Yeah they're both turntables, but that is where the similarity ends.
This is for travel scratching.
Toys âRâ us. Nope.
It's a lot more technical that a toy, some of those controls are advanced.
@@digitaldjtips itâs okay to shit on a product. Just because you all receive a piece of gear for free doesnât mean you have to be positive-ish
@@Mononoken Stanton STX is a really good piece of gear
