Anyone else just tired of all this Sony, Xbox, Call of Duty and Activision Blizzard Deal DRAMA?
Yep could care less
I'd rather be excited for games than legal dramas
I care 0% for ABK games, yet it'd be cool for XBox to acquire King to increase revenue in order to expand Obsidian, Bethesda, Arkane, inXile, & others.
Definitely....
Sony doesn't like others to play by their rules......
Ran cover game pass adverts, I'm sick of McDonald's ads. If they continue this when we pay for the service I'll be going back to physical copies and gold, keep your ads for those who don't pay for full game pass but would like it
As an xbox fan invested in the xbox ecosystem I really want this deal to go through. It would be so good for gamepass
If the MS deal gets blocked, I hope they turn around and sign an exclusive platform deal with Activision. That would be hilarious and even more damaging to Sony. After all, this is what Sony does to MS all the time.
I don't think they'll do it. They could have done it in the past and didn't. Which means it's not the best move for Xbox. Business, especially publicly traded companies, don't take decisions based on vendettas.
Or they can buy another studio for that amount of money.
@@kolo5141 or buy cod ip?
@@ronniecantiga5629 Activision Blizzard is not going to sell CoD.
@@FernandoGomez-hg4rn for once I agree with u
If this keeps carrying on I say Microsoft goes "Well we tried being nice with Sony, they've rejected all our offers, so if it's alright with the regulators once Sony's contracts run their course and WHEN this deal is done, let's take ALL future Activision-Blizzard games off of Playstation." Now obviously I don't think will happen.
That would be cutting your face off to spite your face. They do that and Activision sinks or folds in half in less than a year. You bots are mindless and honestly live in fairy land.
You never know because Sony are getting on everyone's nerves now.
@@bentennyson2398 it is sony and Google together on this. Not just sony.
The big thing, which microsoft has repeatedly said, is COD’s value is in being a multiplatform game. If they were to take it off PS that would immediately cut the player popularity and impact sales not only on PS, but PC and Xbox. Being able to play with friends on PS has become a serious reason for buying modern MP games due to the rise of crossplay. If Microsoft takes that away, but COD competitors like Battlefield and rainbow six siege and the near infinite number of FPS MP shooters out there continue to support cross play across all platforms, they’ll majorly hurt the franchises sales even on their own platforms. Plus COD just loses a lot of marketing and name recognition when the console with the most gamers can’t play or talk about it anymore. Its like not supporting Apple because you don’t want to deal with their app store BS. Its just not a viable business decision because of how much of a lockdown they have on the mobile market. You find some way around their policies that they can agree to and accept that. This is what Microsoft is trying to do with COD and Sony isn’t having it for idk what reason. Like they’re worried about losing COD sales, but that’s exactly what’s going to happen if the deal is blocked. Companies don’t exactly sell because they’re doing well and outside of remakes/rereleases COD is dying under ABK. ABK is dying under ABK. They’d just have to sell off IP or their entire company to another massive company which is more likely to hoard COD because they don’t care about gaming
@@vullord666 ABK would get a 3bill payment if deal falls through so no it wouldn't hurt sony if blocked. Nobody else is buying cod that could potentially not put it everywhere except 1 company..ms. Google dont have a platform anymore and Amazon is laying off. If Abk deal is blocked then they get 3 bill and maybe deal gets remade missing some parts. Maybe will be a A..B...or K deal.
Why dose it matter ?? If companies like Disney could damn near have a monopoly on the entertainment industry. Why can’t Xbox buy activsion ?
I think the same. Movies and TV shows are much more mainstream and reach way more people than video games. Gaming is just niche hobby but these regulators are fine with Disney buying all the major entertainment companies but they are going hard on Microsoft for one publisher acquisition.

Socom, Resistance, Killzone. Three prime IPs they could use but they are worried about Call of Duty.
They also created deviation studios....
I’ve been wantin those 3 franchises back for to damn long
Not to mention Bungie. Probably would have done them good to keep future Bungie games exclusive alongside reviving those ip’s. 🤷🏻
All those game's that ps gamer's ignored for cod ? While i'd love to see resistance come back none of those game's are capable of generating the income of cod's 500m yearly, Sony knows this
Sony just wants to collect that 30% for all COD sales on PlayStation without having to put in the time and money to develop a competitor 🤷🏻♂️ They’ll still get that 30% but they know they’ll be losing a large amount of COD sales when it’s available on Gamepass Day 1 they also know the casuals that mainly play COD will choose Xbox over PlayStation. A big part of PS4 success is because of Sonys marketing deal for COD with the early access and exclusive content drawing in Players
Didn’t Phil Spencer state that Call of Duty would remain on PlayStation when the news was announced to acquire Activision?
Sony's not happy with that contract and they're not happy with the deal in general. They're just trying to stop the deal
He stated that over and over and over and over... again.
@@DON666
In that case, Phil is going back on his word then if they are offering a 10 year contract.
Phil stated that CoD would remain on Playstation but the deal would be renegociated every 10 years to adapt it to the new status quo of the gaming industry. A better deal then what they currently got from Activision but Sony wants the marketing deal for CoD and their favorisme
@@Mikeh2077 This 10 years is more about actual contract. Earlier was just promising. You can't give deals like that on contract to your competition and for free.
Sony doesn’t want COD on gamepass. That’s the point, it’s just Sony can’t come out and say it as it would be blatantly anti consumer.
Sony knows that COD on gamepass would be a huge driver in console sales and would be a tipping point when it comes to NextNextGen.
From a Microsoft perspective it makes sense to keep COD on PlayStation as it keeps it in the public wider consciousness and if anything having it on PlayStation would be free marketing for COD on Xbox
Well said 👏
100%.
However its already looking that way for Sony. Gabe Newell himself said he didnt care about being offered the 10 year deal and he still thinks Xbox should get the deal because it would only be good for gamers since everyone gets the games.
Now Sony is essentially telling their players "everyone else is going to get cod for 10 years, but you PlayStation players get nothing because we were selfish and didnt want to let Microsoft own one game". Because if this deal DOES go through, Sony is the only party not in agreement, so the whole thing could end with them being the only ones without cod anyways. All because they dont want Microsoft to own it, theyre willing to hurt all their customers.
Sony is overly afraid of losing its Call of Duty exclusive content deals. Sony doesn’t not care about how the sake of Activision-Blizzard to Microsoft affects the gaming industry as a whole. Sony only cares about its own interest (the company’s annual COD revenue).
It’s mostly what you’re stating ….and…..Jimbo absolutely does not CoD on gamepass for $10 rental a month when it’s $70 on PlayStation. Also Msft could add exclusive perks and battle pass xp to gamepass users.
I smell conflict of interest. More than one person in the CMA has investments on Sony.
UK is going bankrupt and CMA just wants some money from Microsoft
I think Sony was right to think they could fool regulators at the initial stage that Call of Duty could harm them but surely they would have known that an in depth stage two investigation would easily show this was nonsense. I wonder what Sony are really up to. Or is it just their arrogance knowing they have seen off other previous attempts to dislodge them from their dominance. I so hope regulators demand less than Xbox has already offered voluntarily.
A lot of deals are being revoked and companies are being forced to sell some of the companies they bought... I don't think this deal will go through at least not how MS thinks it will

COD is making Sony a ton of money here and now, but Sony is scared shitless of the fact that Microsoft would now be a gaming publishing powerhouse. One company that has Halo, Forza, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Doom, Minecraft, Age of Empires etc and now also (among others) Warcraft, Candy Crash and yes COD. Sony with its laser focus on 3rd person sad dad simulators has backed itself into a corner, apparently it's pivoting towards a GAAS model but this is also a precarious path to walk filled with landmines.
THE GAAS model which they do seem to be chasing does seem like a terrible idea because they're most vocal part of their fanbase is very negative towards these type of games because they're not the 'high quality' third person single player games they've been marketed to adore.
@@joshsfox6266 The Playstation userbase is no stranger to the GAAS model, COD Warzone, Fortnite, Genshin Impact, Destiny 2 etc. are all popular games over there.
But obviously, Playstation Studios won't double or triple in size (as it's very difficult to find employees and grow studios) to accomodate for their plans to 'have 12 GAAS titles by 2025' (assuming Destiny 2 and GT7 are two such titles, that's ten left in 3(!) years time) and assuming proper AAA next-gen games will take on average longer to develop than last gen games, the devoted fans of Sony's single player games are in for a nasty surprise when it comes to the quantity/frequency of releases in their favorite genre.
@@xellossek Yeah I totally agree and that's what I was getting at. The vocal minority that only play the single player stuff will go bananas when it happens.

I hope this deal goes through with Xbox & Activision, Xbox is so much better then PlayStation!!
Stop that you are sounding like a fanboy both consoles are successful
Facts. I've been saying it since all this back and forth over COD started and everyone put their opinions out there about what could happen if the deal goes through. People have tunnel vision when it comes to COD. It's the biggest game but the deal isn't about COD, taking it away from gamers on other platforms like Sony. The mention that if the deal happens it 'could' change is just fear mongering.
The deal is more about the mobile market than COD.
Not sure what Sony's endgame is here. They've burned their bridges on this entire thing. I guess they have nothing to lose in some respects but you can be damn sure they won't be keeping their marketing deal either way, I very much doubt Activision will do business with them again. Not to mention, the headache they're causing will cost them in the long run.
Just reading the title, common Sony L I like both tbhhh but this whole deal situation is sad asf
This deal will cut into major profits for Sony. That's what this bs is all about
I'm so sick & tired of Sony. Cry babies.
Sony is no longer trying to block the deal because they are scared to lose Call of Duty, Microsoft has made it clear Call of Duty won't be leaving PlayStation, Sony is now trying to block the deal firstly because they will lose all marketing rights and will no longer be able to make the marketing deal over Call of Duty, but secondly and more important to Sony is they do not want Call of Duty on Game Pass at all. Game Pass is the reason Sony wants this deal blocked and the reason Sony is going out at all cost to block this.
I think Phil needs to stop being nice, he actually doesn’t have to offer Sony anything, so Jim can keep crying. Take the gloves off Phil!
They'll be off once the deal goes through.
I am growing tired from this, I couldn't even imagine a few months ago when this started and yet hell is breaking lose. I still belive it will go trough, and if they stop it then Xbox will go to court.
Yeap and if it goes to court they will expose these dopes
UK is going bankrupt and CMA just wants some money from Microsoft
Whats ironic is that MS wasnt even anti-consumer in the 90s in spite of the fact that they were dominating. They dominated because they made a superior product that everyone wanted while never really exploiting that. Sony is just exploiting the fact that people now all of a sudden hate "big tech".
Some tech giants like Apple deserve scrutiny but these government agents hate big tech just for the sake of hating big tech.
I remember somewhere they said the American FCC should have their decision by the end of November. I still don't understand why any country outside the U.S. has any legal authority over 2 AMERICAN companies.
Well Jimmy boy Ryan achieved one thing, I deleted my PS account and sold my PS5
I think that initially Sony did think CoD may go away, but early on they saw that MS was offering three years over the current deal and decided to gamble getting a better deal or maybe even it getting blocked. They are despicable but I do wonder if the good days of cheap Game Pass may go away in a few years, especially with hints from Phil Spencer. That said, I'm all for enjoying it while I can. And if it forces Sony to do better in the short term, even better. Seriously, Sony, I would've stayed on PS+ Essentials (maybe even go to Extra) if you had offered better/more games. After I was done with the PS Collection, I didn't see any value.
So everyone thinking what Sony done to companies in late 1990s was OK that's very few younger people would know this
Did they ask Jim a follow up question or rebuttal his answer in the article?
Sony should just hit the road. Sony is losing support even from the media at this point.
Which games are you playing in this video?
(I own both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 i use both of them daily, when I am not busy outside) I would like to see PlayStation as a company reshuffle them management as I do not think they are a tour, pro consumer they are more pro finance and, it shows asking us to pay more for Games, Hardware and services that are not competitively priced. For me can be very difficult to understand or are way too vague about what they speak about. That is why Xbox is better this generation with announcements or pricing as they want the player to enjoy the ecosystem, not be stressing out about it on not understanding. I do want this deal to become finalized and then Activision and blizzard to be part of Microsoft. As this would be the perfect opportunity for PlayStation to get even better then they are now.
jimbo says we will lose the choices we have now but lets look at the choice we actually have. We can buy cod on xbox and pc and mobile or we can buy cod on ps with timed exclusive maps, betas, exclusive bundles and recently exclusive modes. Once xbox own it the choices we have will be play on pc,xbox,ps,switch, mobile, xbox app on tv without a console and a subscription service giving millions of people access at a very cheap price per month.
what jimbo and Sony are scared of is they will have to convince casual gamers who have no loyalty to noone but cod, fifa, nba, madden, fortnite why they should pay 70 on playstation and 100 per year for ps plus to play it online vs xbox offering 10-15 per month for every brand new cod game aswell as online access included not to mention they will probably have exclusive bundles, timed exclusive stuff. Sony know the bulk of ps plus subscribers are actual cod players who only got it because it was mandatory to play online they fear losing most of its subs to gamepass.
sony and valve are the worst companies in the world. azlong with apple, google and disney.
I love to hear about it this is like watching my mom's stories unfold
@@Yohhan_here exactly thank you at least you understand where I'm coming from LOL
Jim Ryan is scared of Microsoft's acquisition of Blizzard and Activision, because he does not want Call of Duty on Game Pass. Jim Ryan wants Game Pass to fail, because people on Play Station will not buy Call of Duty, that is earning Sony money, if it is free to play on Game Pass. That is the fact of the situation here, it's not about freedom of games or anything like that, that is Sony lies to the fact, they are going to lose money!
@Uncle Hoax Because paying £11.99 a month is substantially cheaper then having to pay anything from £59.99 to £100 for it.

Damn Rand... :s
Great video Rand! One thing is clear to me. If COD is removed from PlayStation, PlayStation gamers will have no one else to blame but Jim Ryan.
na they will still blame Xbox as Sony is the good guy who can't do anything wrong in their eyes
You know, I don’t understand the fear of Game Pass for PlayStation. I saw a recent video interview with Phil Spencer, he mentioned that if PlayStation wanted to put COD on PlayStation streaming service aka PlayStation Plus, they’d be able to do that. - With that being said, I imagine Sony and Microsoft would have to hash that out. But if that is indeed true then it makes the Gamepass argument a non issue.
"Sony and Microsoft would have to hash that out" well that's the pickle, isn't it. Microsoft could say "sure, give us x gazillion dollars and we'll let you put COD on your PS+". That's the point, from Sony's PoV: CoD in Microsoft's hand will give the competition a severe leverage on how their PlayStation business operates. That's also why Sony (imho) didn't want to put their games on PC, aka Windows, to avoid giving their competitors another advantage (imagine MS saying "in Windows 12, all games sold will have to give us a cut" or somesuch; something similar already happened circa 2013, iirc, and it was Valve who protested back in the day, fortunately MS backtracked that idea). That's why they don't want the deal to happen, and that's why they'll try to nuke it and no amount of concessions will be enough.
@@FernandoGomez-hg4rn PlayStation is making money putting their games on PC. That’s extra money they wouldn’t have if they just kept their games on PlayStation. There’s money to be made there… So it’s a win win.
As for what things will cost to put COD on PlayStation Plus, that is “IF” Sony wants to do that… They’ve been reluctant. But maybe they’d do it for COD to compete? I imagine it wouldn’t cost any more then what Xbox pays developers for putting their games on game pass.
The thing is, Microsoft is giving options. Sony wouldn’t do that. If Sony was buying Activision, COD likely wouldn’t appear on any platform but PlayStation.
It will interesting to see how things go. Personally I don’t care about COD. I’m more interested in World of Warcraft and StarCraft and what Microsoft might do with those games. It would be really cool to get a single player RPG in the World of Warcraft universe.
I guess but Sony doesn’t put COD on PSplus Day 1 and they’d have to pay a huge amount to put it there 🤷🏻♂️

He has the best interests of the payers at heart.
This is absolutely mind blowing.. The choices yeah sure Ryan, you mean like the only choice you have to play FF16 or FF7 is on PlayStation.. Ok 😂😂🤥
Typical example of the gaslighting by current Sony leadership. HFW ps4 version is on sale for $29 this week digitally with a free upgrade to ps5 version. Yet on my ps5 in the store, I can only purchase the $39 ps5 version. They’ve intentionally gone out of their way to not let you buy the os4 version as EVERY OTHER third party game with a PS4 version is available to purchase in the store using the ps5 console. Yes, you did want to make the video. I say let them fight it out, I'll get popcorn!
It is Sony AND Google on this..not just sony.
At this point I'm feeling like this deal won't go through as much as I hate to admit.
UT will go through with no problems! Don't believe this biased media bullshit that thinks Sony or those Eu regulators can stop this deal! The EU does not have the power to stop Microsoft from buying activision!
EU and UK can’t legally do anything to stop this deal other than block the sales in their country.
@@teamofone1219 which is enough for Ms to stop the deal
@@maxdelpo5578 But the other countries would hurt themselves as well if they invested into Activision.
The only possible scenario would be that European customers don't get Call of Duty on GamePass, whereas other countries like the USA will. Microsoft has no intention to give up the purchase. Realistically speaking, Sony is just trying to get the most out the legal ways to ensure the franchise will be predominant on Playstation, so by restricting Call of Duty in some markets will have more players stick to Playstation and not jump to GamePass.
So Sony is basically saying there exclusive are shit and they can not survive with out a 3rd party, hmmmm interesting

The real problem is the other Xbox CZcamsrs who still say it’s a bait and switch like dealer gaming which leads to people not believing what phill is saying
It is more for Regulators than Sony. This move by Microsoft disarms many of the arguments around COD, so we will see how this moves the needle for the regulatory agencies.
The funny part about PlayStation trying to get this deal completely blocked... PlayStation is going to piss off Activision so much if they do!!
Activision stock is going to drop hard, and everyone on the board n stock holders are gonna be really pissed off.
What does that matter??
Haha well do you really think PlayStaion is going to be getting a new contract for the marketing rights of Call of Duty after they were the main and pretty much only reason that this deal didn't go through n Activisions overall worth has plummeted??
Activision is gonna be so pissed at Sony, that to me is now one of the most interesting parts of this deal now
Yeah i really don’t care anymore i just wanna fast forward to 2023 so this deal can be finalized. After all I’ve seen and heard about this deal Sony has absolutely no case and will look stupid at the end of all this
Minecraft was the game that Sony bent the knee to for Cross Play. Call of Duty is the game Sony will bend the knee to for the Cross Play tax. Sony cares so desperately for short term money that they destroy their goodwill and raise the prices of their games and consoles. Sony casts consumers aside to fortify their walled garden, they build up anti-consumer and anti-developer practices, and in their futile struggle for permeant Call of Duty contracts, the entire world gets to see Sony's ethos on display. Sony has nothing to gain in the long term with their current strategy, and in the short term they are fueling an exodus against them in all but the most ignorant of people.
I just want it to go through so I can play Diablo 4 on, Game pass… I don’t care about COD
I’ve never subscribed to the console wars etc, I just like playing my Xbox that’s it. But this whole Activision deal and the stance by Sony is a joke a genuinely so hypocritical and tone deaf. Sony say this deal will limit choice and they’re their to protect gamers as this will have an adverse effect for them.
I’ve got an Xbox Series S. it’s well known and proven Sony actively pay publisher to keep games from going to Xbox. As a consumer that limits my choice in what I play and dames the industry. This type of action from Sony is a form of punishment, because I’ve bought an Xbox they’re going to make sure I can’t play certain games
Hypocrisy at its best right there
BREAKING NEWS!!! Activision just came out shots firing at Cryin Jim Ryan saying the following on Twitter
“Seeing a lot of speculation about Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Any suggestion that the transaction could have anticompetitive effects is absurd.
This merger will benefit gamers and the US gaming industry - especially as we face stiffer competition from abroad.”
I desperately want to play Activision games without going broke.
Sony is just scared and arguing because they won’t be able to keep exclusive COD features and justifying it as ‘player choice’
This is what you wished for Rand. Drama. Even with a new Jim Ryan statement.
Get ‘em rand!
The reality is, there is nothing to be gained for Sony by accepting a deal now. They are no worse off to wait out the process and see what concessions are required, or even if the deal is blocked.
Sony could gain those extra years of COD guaranteed on PlayStation 🤷🏻♂️ Regulators could end up saying Zero concessions and then Sony only gets the remainder of their current contract. Sony will have to go back to Phil to negotiate something after the deal is done and Phil 100% has the advantage
Sony doesn't want to compete in subscription services offering better value for PlayStation customers.
Sony doesn't want to compete with Game Pass it's inevitable they're going to have to put their exclusives day-1 on their subscription services..
Haha! PlayStation is so salty. 🤣
So Xbox has all these big publishers they’ve bought and what have we seen? Halo infinite (failure) and Forza. Yay… they have no exclusives. That’s why they have to buy all these companies just to have games. Pathetic.
How is it that it seems Msoft is negotiating with Sony trying to convince Sony when this is a decision by regulators? Are Sony the regulators? It’s crazy to me how this is the way it’s going down.
As a PlayStation fan I just want the deal to go through Sony is saying ridiculous things to act weak despite being Market leader, tbh with the FTC involved this will likely go until July which will be annoying for everyone

I think they will still get Ubisoft. Sony has 22 dev teams and a lot of activision blizzard games will be multiplayform so Ubisoft got exclusive is still on the table
We can call Jim Ryan whatever number of names, but the reality is that the man is a genius; he has the regulators repeating his own talking points, Microsoft on the run offering THE MARKET LEADER a 10-year deal for CoD, despite the fact Microsoft has an army of very expensive lawyers around. He's not taking any deal, of course, why would he? He alone is nuking the deal to oblivion. He can push for more: keep CoD off of Game Pass; get CoD and Diablo into PS+; release Bethesda's Elder Scrolls 6 on PlayStation 6; cancel the deal altogether. He's brilliant, really.
Quite interesting how Jim Ryan is managing to do that. The name calling is playground insult level but he’s putting in the work. Whatever he’s doing/saying is working.
It might have started out like Jim was the one “crying” to the regulators but now it’s the fans who seem dismayed and wailing that his moves are working 😂
Poor Jimbo. 😓
Lol Jim thumb nail
Guess we know now who they talked to on Capitol Hill. Remember the ones that asked FTC to take a close look?
Regulators have long had grief with Microsoft.
Roast Em' Rand....
PlayStation is Sonys most profitable business so they need to keep it that way to keep their Company afloat
Sony is gaslighting the hell out of this, almost admire the sheer audacity of it. Still don't know why anyone takes what they say seriously, just a cursory glance at their behaviour over the last few years should clear up a lot of this bs.
So nothing will change for Sony except for in game exclusives (ONI) and Xbox owners can enjoy in game exclusives. Sounds fair to me. And what will happen if Sony is successful, will there be repercussions for Microsoft/Xbox ??
Take um to court that way Sony don't get ish once the law rules in Microsofts favor. COD on handheld, PC, Xbox, and Nintendo only.
Yeah, talk of this acquisition is tiresome but definitely relevant to the community.
It's obvious that Sony just doesn't want the acquisition to go through but they don't really have a leg to stand on. It, imo comes down to the bias of the regulators involved as legally there is nothing wrong about this acquisition.
At this point, Microsoft might say that they will give cod's exclusive deals to sony🤣🤣🤣.
If Sony is not careful they might piss off their own dev studios with all of this COD talk. If I worked for a dev studio under Sony right now I would be thinking hard if I am working for the right company. They have no faith in their own studios to make a game comparable to COD.

Playstation should just focus on aquiring Square Enix and Konami IPs, but if you ask me I would prefer a world where activision/blizzard, SE, Konami or any other publisher stays independent. I don't want consolidation. Xbox and Playstation should be adquiring studios like Obsidian, Insomniac, etc. But publishers itself it's a bit nasty.
I don’t get it. If MS doesn’t really care about COD, and is really wants the merger to go through because of the mobile IPs, then why not just offer COD to go onto PlayStation Plus to get the merger to go through.
Because they are lying.
