You can wish on the chronicled banner if you can keep 90 wishes in the bank. e.g. Have 100 wishes? Go do that 10 pull. Either you (A) get your fated, (B) you get the fate point, or (C) you don't get anything. If (A), hurray you beat the gacha If (B), you have those 90 wishes to utilize the fate point If (C), you dont get anything but built pity and now you dont have a fate point making you want to pull out your wallet.
Great, you built pity... for Chronicle banner only. When's the next Chronicle banner again? What characters can we expect on it again? In the meantime, the new hotness Arlecchino/Chlorinde/Murata just dropped. That Chronicle banner pity? Useless for limited character banner progression.
Definitely the way to go about it. So for me, I would probably never pull on that banner unless there's truly no future character I like within 4 patches. It can be a great system for people who are more interested in constellations/weapons, and new players that want the older characters more than the newer ones.
@@phoenixlau Yeah this is another problem that wasn't addressed. The limited character banner will always come, we have a good idea of who will rerun when. This banner is a complete mystery for future runs.. no idea of how frequent it's going to be, who will be on it, heck we don't even have any Inazuma characters to fill those standard slots so will they ever do an Inazuma one? Who knows what's gonna happen.

yes that.. that's how business works. nothing in this world are free even if you consider yourself as F2P if they make the banners where the revenue is only 10 to 50% increase after breaking even on a specified time period, in the eyes of any and all businesses that wants to expand, or just for glory of being rich af, +50% is nowhere near a success they know how to make the perfect banner where we get everything that we want, but ask any businessmen, thats not a good business practice are they evil because of that? maybe, but the structure on this society makes it that its eat, or be eaten; they have to be cut above the rest, even if it means trampling some, or else they get trampled themselves im sorry this banner has many negative flaws, but to them its a necessary sacrifice to never get rid of their biggest business practice, FOMO
I'd say one other potential con is that with so many characters rerunning, if the amount f2p currency isn't increasing, then there will be even more fomo since we don't know when these characters will get another banner. This update is technically 7 limited time characters. Not to say you need to get all of them, but you would have to have been saving for an update or 2 if you plan to get more than 2 characters and/or weapons. Though I think the banner is still important to help with the rerun issue even if it does increase fomo. As long as the chronicle banner lasts an update or maybe 2 then it might not be a big deal. I just wish they were more specific with how often the banner will be available, because all they said was it would be back occasionally. 😂
Amount of free primogems and fates coming from the game is always lower than the rate at which new 5* characters are coming so as F2P you have zero chance to ever have all characters. How many extra characters you don't have are there is irrelevant but what is relevant is the fact that you will now have more to choose from when pulling for them.
The fact we have more reruns or faster reruns is an undeniable win. Fomo would be way harder with the char coming now and leaving for a year like we were going to. Knowing that the rerun will be sooner actually reduces the Fomo.
And relax, they said that the second rerun banner would come "from time to time" as well. And every update after that had a second rerun banner. This banner will happen every update too
Tbh "the banner issue" is the only reason this thing exists. It's not designed to make characters rerun more often, it's designed to make characters rerun exactly as often as they already are, which is once per 8-12 months depending on how popular they are or whatever. So yeah, it's good they implemented this for that reason, but the net result is essentially more decision paralysis and fomo on banners, which is just what happens when the number of characters keeps going up and up.

Ok, I work at a Casino so I think I have a unique perspective on this(although it’s probably will be downvoted to hell lmao). I think punishing people for just “throwing in a few fates to try my luck” is a heathy thing. Discouraging people from treating the banners as a slot machine may not be the best for the game, but it’s better for the players. At a casino, you’ll see rich people play games with terrible odds, just throwing away tens of thousands of dollars. Then you’ll see poor people play almost true odds games like double deck blackjack. The reason for this, is that if a game has a lot of deterrents from playing it, only people who are really comfortable throwing away their money will play them. If a game is really inviting, if there are fewer punishments for just throwing some chips in to try your luck, poor people get drawn to those games, because the prospect of ‘maybe I’ll win this time’ is an attractive one. (P.s. if you see a rich person playing like a poor person they’re probably cheating lmao) I think having the fate point be thrown away, in a weird way helps players develop better habits. They’ll be more likely to save, more likely to plan out their account. There are negatives sure, the fate point going away will create a kind of ‘sunken cost fallacy’. But in my opinion the banners already have that because they are limited, and maybe the character will take more than a year to rerun. This new banner solves that last point though, so I still think it’s a net positive.
this is how its always been tho, smart people save and get what they want/get rewarded doing so, impulsive spenders have to face the consequences of their actions. In a game that GUARANTEES your desired 5* item its hard to call the genshin gacha system a "gamble" as its more like a milestone lol
I like the idea. But I think they should also add event weapons that no longer exist like Albedo's sword, Festering Desire, etc, so you can own at least 1. Because those are weapons that are BIS for several characters but just simply don't exist anymore.

I think the most important thing is to really understand and accept how the banner works and act accordingly - either prepare a guarantee, or accept the fact that you won't have one. To me, losing fate point on weapons banner is no issue, I've done it number of times. I just try to get a weapon I like and either I get it or I don't, when the next weapons banner comes I try again. The same way it is possible to spend low amounts of wishes on the chronicled wish banner, you just need to accept the fact that you are always on 50/50. Still, there's 70% chance you'll get a featured character (50% you get the one you charted the course for, and another 10% for each of the other two). That is really not that bad. And the prospect is that over time standard banner characters will be gradually pushed out by old featured ones. With that said, I really think that being able to transfer that fate point to different character or weapon or to next run of the banner would not hurt the game. It is sad that Hoyo did not do that. But since we did not get it, all we can do is to work with the system we got.
As a ftp this is literally a gamechanger. Im only ever gonna have 180 wishes when wishing, and only on chronicle banner, because itll motivate me to save, and i can get garenteed normal limited characters but also the potential to loose a 50/50 to another limited character? also weapon banner will be insane on it
I'll keep pulling on limited since idc about the old characters and I really likw 4 star rate-ups, but as the game progresses and the current characters get old enough to go on chronicle, it'll definitely get more appealing
They are definitely threading the way to ensure that the current banner is still legit best option to pull for people that want the new stuff. If they screw that up, people are going to only pull from the Chronicle Banners and that will affect sales. They make sure that they had to be their own limited banners 3 times or not in the circulation for a while to be featured in the chronicle banner. This way people don't just wait for the chronicle banner to pull their favorite character. There is also this notion that people get smarter after they lose a lot of money. This is probably why HoYo do not want to cater to Veteran players as they don't spend as much money as new players that are new to the gacha system. They will make sure the game is new comer friendly and they can get their money (as they haven't lose too much yet) and keep the game/company funded. Yeah, they have to balance to make sure people still pull from the featured banners and for those that missed them, they can look forward to the chronicle one. So, if you don't have any character or weapons yet, the featured character and weapon banner are the best value. However, if you missed them, you can then laser focus on the character/weapon you missed on the chronicle banner.
It's crazy how much you have to be willing to spend/invest in this banner right now for these characters. There was no way of planning for it ahead of time, so if you were hoping for eula/albedo/klee later in 4.X, or you want a standard 5-star... this banner is pretty much demanding your primogems and interrupting any plans you may have for 4.5+
That's really the case regardless, though, isn't it? You constantly see people posting that they want A, but B is coming up, so A has to wait or they are putting off B. And since we generally don't know what characters are re-running much ahead of time, unlike the new characters, plans often get disrupted.

You could though, the leakers were saying about a new banner being feleased before/in the beginning of 4.4 patch. You could predict it by analysing the characters that havent had a rerun for a while. And we can relatively safely assume the next cronicled banner will most likely have shenhe, ganuy (they meet the criteria of this banner, havent rerun for a while and a wave of fontaine reruns and releases is coming and will take up the regular banners) , qiqi and keqing and possibly other liuye 5*. Plus the addition if this banner will most likely shorten the average rerun time so people will feel safer skipping someone knowing they will have another chance to get them sooner.
@@phoenixlauIf this is you, then you weren't really "saving for Klee", because if you won the last 50/50 instead of losing it, then you wouldn't have a guarantee + 90, you'd just have 90. By pulling for another limited 5 star, you were already risking that you win the 50/50, and thus lose your guarantee for Klee if she showed up in a normal limited banner in 4.5.
as an older player i can plan around it or ignore it, but my biggest gripe with this banner is how horrible it will be for new players who will pull on it without understanding that pity doesn't carry over or any of it's other nuances, which was also why acquaint fates were suggested by many, it's true that it won't make much difference for old players but it would help the new ones which i thought was the point of the banner to begin with
Honestly if you're a new player I don't think you should be worried about what character you're pulling that early on in the game because anything works at that AR level. Shit I was a Qiqi main until 1.2 when I got Ganyu lol

This is a huge win for me. I anyway stock up intertwined fates, use only welkin purchases. As a Diluc main of 3 years, this is the only way I can get his cons, so gonna aim for his C2 and C3 this 4.5.
The problem with fate point carry over is that it basically a straight upgrade for the weapon chronicled banner. Right now the average of getting your desired limited weapon is about 105 ish, as the usual weapon wish has 75% for getting limited on banner
I'm constantly back and forth between this, because on the one hand it's really nice to have a choice on these, but on the other hand it's an "all-or-nothing", there is no "ok I'll go for a guarantee on the next one if I lose here" like there is with the character banner. Basically players will just have to be much more careful going forward, and also plan with the potential of a Chronicle dropping in mind, which is a bit more complicated than before and no more reserving a guarantee for later.
@@pontoancoraagree with you my good man. I am a month 1 player, and after a certain amount of time, you no longer need additional new characters. I consistently clear spiral abyss at 36 without effort. And I have almost 300 unspent extra wishes.
All or nothing is honestly the best strat though. You'll see less people whinging about losing 5050 and being forced to wait until the next rerun if more people learn how to save at least 180 fates.
@@carloscalderon2808 sure, as a month 1 player you have that luxury. Some of us have too many characters to go for all at once to try and fill out teams. I just dislike that this banner has added complexity with its expiring fate point system and a separate pity. It's overall good but shitty that it showed up out of the blue and some of us just have to miss out on it if we recently pulled to fill out an abyss team, hence the whole FOMO thing. *Also I don't care about any of the limited 5-stars on the banner so I was never saving for klee/albedo/eula, I actually want Mona. I'm just salty I can't go for an attempt for Mona in good conscience, who we otherwise cannot guarantee on a usual banner, without possibly bricking the 50/50 and losing it after the Chronicle banner ends. If this was a normal 50/50 I'd just go to pity to see if I can win the coin flip, normally if it's a loss I can pocket the guarantee for later but obviously that isn't the case now.

Yea I mean my biggest issue is the “three banner limit meme”. So I started playing around two months before Nilou’s last rerun. I had no attachment to the character other than “dope, cute character” so I only did one ten pull. Now it’s around a year later and I played through her part in the archon story and love her character (tied for top with Raiden). Not to mention the story part with Shenhe was somehow super emotional to play through for me so I’ve got a soft spot for her character as well. Basically I’ve been waiting for their re-runs and regretting sitting around just because I wasn’t into the game as much back then. So it’s super annoying that an arbitrary 3 banner rule is in place and I really can’t figure out why it even exists other than they might miss out on minuscule amounts of money by not having their faces front and center.
Relax, witht this banner they will have less characters to have reruns on the limited banners and nilou will rotate faster. And soon she will rotate to the new banner, if you want constellations after

People are acting like this is 2 steps backwards when it's literally just an extra footprint to the side. It doesn't hurt the game at all, at worst it's useless and at best it's very helpful. I guarantee people's opinion of this will change within the next few months
My ideas to fix the 4 star issue: 1. Instead of having 2 characters in the shop, have 4 instead. 2. Instead of every 30 days, the characters reset every 7 days. 3. Characters that you have full constellations on are removed from the pull. 4. Spend Stardust in the store to randomize the character roster. The more times you randomize the higher the cost. Cost resets every 24h.
Shenhe is the last character I need to give Ayaka her best team, so I've been saving for her. I'm glad she needs another rerun before she's eligible for the chronicled wish. Regarding 4 stars, I've been playing since August 23 and I have at least one copy of the majority of 4 stars available, so I personally don't feel getting 4 stars is an issue. Oh, because it might be relevant, I am a budget player - battlepass since the start and 2 welkins, plus splurging to get Ayaka for my birthday since she's my favorite character.
Unfortunately none of the rumors of the past week point to a Shenhe rerun anytime soon. And if she's not eligible in the regional banner, who can say when we'll see her again?
I’m low spender and this is definitely new players bait the least they could do is guarantee the the selected character or weapon at lower pity or allow fate point transfer.
I think is important to say that with the addition of this banner you should do pulls one by one, specially near to soft pity, but better to do all In this way. Because you don't wanna have pity stuck on one type of banner and see that character you are wanting for coming in the other one. Those 1 to 9 pulls unnecessarily spent on one banner after you got your 5 star, can make the difference to get your next one in the other banner of a different kind.
Idk about the perceived value of the theoretical Liyue chronicled banner - after all, Qiqi will inevitably be part of it. Imagine going for Tartaglia or Yelan (if they’re both on it) only to lose to - you guessed it - Qiqi.
Targalia is snezniyian. He wouldn't be on a Liyue Regional banner. Though he could be on some kind of themed banner involving the bullshit he pulled in liyue. IMO part of the reason they're calling it a chronicle banner instead of a Regional banner is giving more flexibility to what they can put on it. they can theme it as a regional banner or they could theme it around some event and run characters somewhat connected to that event. Especially next year when they can plan out their Limited banner releases so that characters can be put on Chronicle instead of limited and actually be able to pull for characters involved in the event running. i.e. imagine if this year's lantern rite was next year (assuming Shenhe gets her third a banner in the next 3-4 months). They could've had Xiao, Ganyu, Shenhe, Hu Tao, Keqing, and Qiqi, who all make at least some apperance during the event, but especially Ganyu and Shenhe who got new outfits during the event and haven't run in nearly a year. Chronicle could've been a way to have those characters available without interrupting the current limited wish cycles. (which was already dumb. the Bottle event was the only time I can think of at least in the last couple years, where the limited characters in the event were actually on the banner that ran along side it (except Kokomi since there was only 2 banners)). Now they can go ham with it. And use them on Chronicle during an event period as long as they plan things out. Since Eula and Klee appeared, the minimum cut off since the last limited banner appearance is apparently ~5 months, so that should be easy enough to plan around, especially since it mentions in the FAQ that being on Chronicle does NOT prevent being on another Chronicle Banner. Only limited banners do. So they could run a regional themed banner and then do an event themed banner immediately that involves some of the same characters who are participating in the new event. (chronicle also doesn't alter their eligibility for Limited banners, so, Phase 1 4.6 could have Arle/Albedo (even if very unlikely).
I won’t be pulling on this chronicled wish but if Hu Tao is ever on it, I might get her weapon but I’ll just wait and see Would love to see a video about which characters/weapons could appear on here in the future!!
I don't know every character that counts for this, but I remember it said that it was going to be standard 5 stars & limited 5 stars who have had at least 3 reruns & have not recently had a rerun
You have to be super safe here, in my case this is fine since I want all of these but it won't be fine next rotation most likely, I choose to look at it like I do when building pity, I will only pull if I don't mind getting any of the other 5 stars.
gacha has always been predatory. It's a business ofcourse they'll try to bait you into spending, especially those hopeless gacha addicts. This chronicle banner already has its advantage over the regular event banner, you have a chance to lose your 50/50 to a limited character compared to losing to a Qiqi for the 11th time. the only disadvantage is the guarantee doesn't carry over, which can easily be overcome if you know how to save primogems and plan your pulls. If your the type who immediately wish once you get 160 primogem, then this banner is really bad for you. Devs wont make this chronicle banner equal or better since it will reduce the value of the existing event banner.
The cool thing is that we know that someday there will be Tignari in the banner, and that I have time to prepare. Maybe even go for the beacon. Imagine pulling for the beacon and getting hunter's path as a result of loosing the 50/50, just wow.
Most of people are upset not because of the banner itself, but because its everything they've got. No 4 star limitations on this one (hello keya,lisa,ember enjoyers). No interesting game modes (with more gems to farm of course), no QOL artifact sets that you could save for every character for fast equip. It's not a filler patch, its a lazy patch. Veluriyam Mirage is also a filler patch with no main story. Its fun how people are oblivious about it earlier it was around 70 pulls in a patch and when people asked for rewards, they started giving free 10+3 pulls but removed primogems from every patch to make it around 55 pulls.
One good thing I haven't seen anyone consider yet with this particular version of the banner is how great it will be for brand new players to wish on. They would get characters that are local to the area they are in, allowing them to finish exploration and story of the early zones without needing to explore later zones early just for the level up materials. It's very immersion breaking to have to visit other zones early in the story and very often leads to spoilers. The events have the same issue and include HUGE story spoilers.
The 4 star characters are not limited to an area. There is at least one 4 star character I know of that would be a spoiler just to have them too early. As someone who snuck in to Sumeru early to do the Aranyaka quest, Hoyo did a decent job of keeping the archon and world quests separate. There’s even little things like certain NPCs in Sumeru’s towns don’t appear. I’ll agree that the last two limited events are ridiculous spoilers though: on my alt account with almost no quest progression, I didn’t even get a warning popup when I walked around Liyue and bumped into an event that blurted out a voice line that would have spoiled the Archon quest about 4 acts from where that account was at.
this banner is literally perfect for dolphins. we all thought dehya and tigs weapons were gone forever, now they are back. want cons on some niche mondstat characters? here you go. looking for a specific 5 star weapon? boom. this banner is legit. and theres so much to do on the game its kinda hard to not always have 100+ wishes, especially if you save for a patch or two hoping to get hunters path and skyward blade
Thank you for talking about the downsides I also really agree that blue fates are not really... common? We get so many more pink limited ones that it wouldn't make sense to use blue ones here, especially since it does have limited stuff in it. I think people maybe wished for whole different currency, or a system like in HSR where you can buy for example weapons for a huge amount of starglitter and such. But blue fates would not make much sense. I wish they revamped standard banner yeah, especially when it comes to 4* problem it's a HUGE problem. It would be fixed even with lantern rite selector equivalent in big regional events in other nations. I don't know why we don't have this, aside from hurr durr hoyo chinese game make fictional china nice. One big win is for sure people being able to FINALLY guarantee a standard character. After 3 years they might be pretty desperate lol.
Basically, this problem is nothing new: more released characters will always mean you can't get them all as easy as before, since your "primogem income" won't change, but your expenses now double. The Chronicled Wish banner has separate history from the Event banners, similar to weapon banner, so you only go there for very specific purpose, and you go there prepared (meaning, 160+ intertwined fates are already at your disposal).
I think the problem with being able to save a fate point is this ff scenario. If you wished for a weapon, lost your 50/50 so you got a fate point, then were able to save that fate point for the future chronicled wish and technically the fate point that you banked no longer has a “path” to follow because the weapon you were supposed to get was in the previous patch. If they allowed you to save a fate point, but locked it to the path type you were following e.g weapons, people would get mad you couldnt use that fate point on the charactwrs. BUT if you could use that fate point on the characters, this banner system would just be better then the limited banner in some cases because you have the ability to go for weapons, then keep the fate point for future characters or vice versa. This shouldnt be allowed because the chronicle wishe isnt supposed to be a replacement for limited banners, just an alternative for more unwanted or old characters, but if we could keep that fate point, in either scenario of swapping paths or keeping it stuck, i think hoyoverse loses and ofc that cant happen
This is non-issue that is solved by ability to reset fate point - so you can choose if you either want to get locked in your guarantee type or reset it to be able to go for different 5* type but without a guarantee The reason Hoyo “looses” with that system is that it doesn’t encourages FOMO spending as much as current system does
Def a great banner for weapons cuz it’s better than the current limited weapon banner system. As for characters, that depends on who’s in the rotation. If you want everyone in the current selection, it’s a W. So even if you lose, you might still get the character you wanted. That depends on the player of course but I think it’s still a good 3rd option.
The problem with any banner system whatsoever is that they are the only and main source of money Mihoyo actually consider. And thats comming from someone who pays monthly Welkin, Bp and have 3 payed skins (Diluc, Ayaka and Ganyu). - Which are the ones, avaliable, that i like the most
PGR has a banner where you select a specific A rank construct for rate up. It increases that characters rate up to 80%. Genshin could allow that in the standard banner.
i think an interesting solution to the 4 star problem you brought up is adding all 4 stars to the starglitter shop some point after their release (kinda like how we get artifact strongboxes every so often) and have every event patch where you get a free character be like the lantern rite patch, where rather than just getting a free fischl or whatever, you get to choose between multiple characters. cuz as a longtime player, i find a lot of times i already have c6 on the character they're giving me, or i dont play them, so having more variety could be good.
yeah, just the same deal. Once a 4* has at least 4 banner appearances (or 20+ banners since they last appeared (coughkavehcough)) which ever happens first, they get added to the starglitter shop permanently. Just remove the monthly rotation entirely. You can buy 1 copy of a given character per month being the only restriction on who you can get. And of course getting starglitter. There's already rumors of them adding most of the weapon banner weapons to it including 5*s (especially the ones that aren't a limited character's signature). As well as adding new ways of earning star-glitter. And once that flood gate is open it's only a matter of time before the standard 5*s (at least) end up on the shop for whatever the 5* weapons cost.
For me personally this is an Easy W... I have made a list of character I really want, and the only ones left on that lift are Ganyu and Kazuha... After I get them, I will just pull on whoever I seem to like at that moment. So this banner is very good for me, because if I really decide I want a perticular character, it gives me more incentive to save my fates, for either this banner or if they come out on the featured one. Also I might finally get my Jean eventually

I think this banner is primarily aimed at 'older' players, who already have plenty of characters built, and are able to plan ahead: save pulls for their favorites and/or start pulling for weapons. I've been playing for 1y 3m, and I feel I'm at the brink of this state: once I pull Kazuha in 4.5, I'll have all the characters I need: All archons except Venti, Neuvi, Navia, Ayaka, Kokomi, Xianyun, Yelan, C6 Bennett, C6 XQ, C6 Sucrose, C6 Gaming, C4 Fishl, C1 Shinobu. (As well as a few lower-tier char's I love nonetheless: C6 Beidou, C6 Noelle, C6 Sara, C1 Diona, C2 Mika, C1 Yaoyao) I was planning to start saving for the pyro archon. :-) But she's still months away, so if I save up enough, in a few patches I might pull for some good 5* weapons in this new banner that I can maybe use on multiple characters.
As a player that almost always saves to be able to guarantee most of their pulls, and always has a bank of 20K+ primos, the cons of the chronicle banner honestly isnt aren't a big deal except for no 4star rate up. I think it just challenges f2p players to be a bit more careful and strategic with their pulls to be able to get the most out of the new banner. The bigger issue I see is that with 2 banners running, and a faster rerun cycle, we will be getting more characters faster running at the same time and have less time to save up between char banners you want to pull. This might be party a self-solving problem since theoretically missing a banner shouldn't be as bad since reruns should happen faster, but players may find that they are tempted to spend more primos per patch than b4 on average when we prob aren't getting more primos per patch than usual, and this might make primos feel even more sparse for f2p players.
There's another big +/- to the weapon side of things: the weapon banner exclusive four stars. Some of these are pretty good, and at the very least, for longer term players, not ones they already have multiple copies at R5. So now you can wish for weapons here, but have 0 chance of getting those limited four star weapons. So that's the downside. Of course, the upside for newer players is you can get more copies of the good limited four star weapons, like favs and Widsith. As far as the four star problem goes, honestly, I wouldn't want that for just this banner. That's an issue that needs a universal solution. And I know some people suggest that there should be rate up four stars, but honestly, I consider that another +/- thing, and overall a non-factor. As someone who mostly wants newer four stars, as those aren't at C6 yet, I don't want my four star options pushed into older characters. And with the quantity of four stars that would be "featured", the odds of getting a particular one would be garbage anyway, so kinda pointless. But, especially for Mondstadt and to a lesser degree Liyue, it would be nice for people who do want those OG OP four stars (and Lisa/Kaeya/Amber cons).
Frequency-wise, my expectation is that it will last for the entire patch, but that they'll aim for a 6 month+ time between banners rerunning. They probably will skip some patches, though. Like Sumeru will probably happen in 5.1 at the earliest.
I don't recall any mention of what four stars will be available on the chronicled banner. How do you know there are four star ones that won't appear? I'm skeptical that some will, but do you have a source? Other than that question, I agree with your take.
I have about 250 wishes right now and am missing Hunter's Path for Tighnari / Yae team and the thought of using 160-180 wishes to snatch this weapon and potentially risking a Arlecchino / Chlorinde...yeah, no thank you, this is a trap
I'd pull for the weapon in that scenario. You can't even guarentee both right now. But there's still the entire patch itself to save up and the 3 weeks on the banner itself to pull in. They also won't take too long to rerun.
I think the issue is the f2p economy. You get 50 wishes a patch if you do everything ( no one does everything ) so to even use their banner without risking a loss you have to do everything and not roll for 4 patches. Starrail fixes this in that you usually get 90 wishes a patch for almost no effort, so you at least get 1 5* every main patch.
There are two big important questions we still don't know the answers to. How often will this banner appear and how long is it going to last? If it lasts long enough you have a chance to grind as hard as possible during it's duration and save your fate point from going to waste. Also, will Hoyo just chain older characters to this banner and never give them a proper rerun? If yes, we might be ok with Mondstadt (lots of old and not very popular characters) but when Liyue, Inazuma and Sumeru banners eventually come we might be losing forever some very good older units if Hoyo considers them not profitable enough and retires them to this banner. Overall however, it's strange that so many people feel like it's not their responsibility to control their poor money habits and gacha addiction, but somehow Hoyo's. The company is never your friend.
It will last the whole update and we will have a new one every mew update. Don't expect the most unprofitable to appear again. Some others may appear. The rule of appearing at least in 3 banners guarantees that they will have their time to shine on main banner and will make reruns faster. Yeah, some people are so addict that they aren't unable to just save 180 pulls
I think if they want to "improve" this new banner they should do 1 or some of these things: lower hard pity to 80, fate point carries over to the next banner, the banner becomes permanent and they just keep adding new chronicle wish banners, you can use both intertwined and acquinted fates, remove the standard banner characters in the pool of characters but increase the fate point to 2 so that you can only lose to limited banner characters or make it so when you do 10 pulls you get an extra 1 more pull so 11 but only when you do 10 pulls and not singles.
In my view, the chronicle wish is there to push people to wish. I think most of the people who'll wish on this banner will treat it more like a slot machine than actually attempting to get a character. The weapon banner is an improvement because it only requires 1 fate point, but hopefully we see the more desirable weapons here too.
about the weapon banner and waiting to get two weapons you want to pull, it also doesnt really work well because there's always a chance of getting a standard banner weapon. For example, I just got xiao and yae miko, and went to pull on weapon banner, I set the path to jade spear, got an early, but lost the 25/75 for my 2nd skyward spine (literally the only 5* weapon I had and game gave me a 2nd one, smh), and in the end I went to pity and won the 25/75, so in the end even if I lose the 25/75 I didnt get yae's weapon. Ofc this is not the case for everyone, but I felt like I needed to add this, in the end the chronicle's path weapon banner is the same as the regular weapon banner, maybe with more chance of getting the weapons you dont want, but not really that different.
Yup I thought about the 'getting early' situation and I've simply come to terms with the fact that rolling the dice for extra cons is just not worth it. if you saved 180 and you get your character early and only have say 110 left, that's a W, but the W is the saved wishes, and not the ability to roll the dice a 2nd time, unless you're absolutely willing to pay. being willing to top up absolutely changes the math on how far you can/should go when risking your fates. I know I'm willing to spend X amount to get an extra Eula con, but if my remaining fates after getting what I want first don't dictate that I can guarantee the next one, I bail, and save for future banners/Eula's next rerun/next one of this banner with something I want on it.
I see this as a win for newer players who have not have many 5s characters in their roster yet. It build account faster which is really good. @Jello Impact I can’t wait for your account planning video. Which I believe will help players out
I like the idea of choosing a "loser" character but even 2 would be good for example: I want Eula so I would choose her as my target, and then I would choose 2 lose options for Jean that I do want and Mona because I don't mind getting her
The fate point thing can be remedied by simply not pulling unless you have enough for a guarantee. Easier said than done though, cause f2p are restricted by the amount of pulls they can get each update and having to wait months (or even years) for the items/characters you want is hell. So the pressure to spend money is insanely high. I despize the Genshin team more with each patch, ngl. For all the issues they fix and features they add there are still too many negatives for me to be impressed. Too little, too late. This banner is not all bad, far from it, but the issues are big enough for me to once again side-eye the Genshin team (I don't mean issues with this banner but just in general). Especially after the "3 wishes for 3 years" disaster.
There's also one issue that I think you didn't mention that being it depends on the patch for the most part, you can't guarentee it especially since of its criteria being that its characters that hadn't gotten a recent rerun.

This is just a mindset problem. You never have wishes to spare. You always need 180 wishes for a character. If you let yourself get baited into wishing on something you can´t guarantee it´s your own fault, not the banners.
I'll kind of lucky. I don't save for new characters. If I really like a new one, their trial run is good, and I have extra; I will pull. I save for favs that I really want. The problem is that, I don't always get who I saved for(I've missed Shenhe twice now). I also need cons and certain weapons. I have had to pass on getting cons the past two patches while waiting for Albedo and Shenhe. Don't even get me started on Kaeya cons, or pulling Wolves Gravestone.
i hope this dosent mean that the limited time banner for this characters and future ones arent delayed for an eternity because they are on here (not complaining but just pointing something i see a lot of people not pointing as often)

No matter what this is still better than whatever Love and Deepspace did, they have also a similar fate point, but the banner lasts only for 6 days, so even though i was 10 wishes away from guarantee, i couldn't actually get my guaranteed character despite the fate point being brought over. As long as the banner is around 20 days im okay because i only want Albedo and i already have other characters like Kokomi, Kazha, Ayaka, and thankfully i got Nahida in 20 wishes
Make it able to use Standard Fate pulls too and its the best thing ever. I still refuse to use my 500+ standard pulls until we get something else we can use standard pulls with.
The 4star hell would be minimized A LOT if they force you to get CHARACTHERS in the character banner and WEAPONS in the weapon banner when you win/lose. Sure, it might still be a slight of chance for you not to have a single copy of said 4 star, but what made me not to get the last 6th con of Faruzan were those freaking weapons that i've got, imho.
I'm really glad you understood that this banner is not an absolute w like u stated earlier. Honestly speaking this banner won't be used much (unless they add actual good character) and the fate point issue makes it more unappealing for f2p. The weapons in this banner is a W over the weapon banner because for an avg to worst case this banner requires far less pulls.

I only see it as a good thing though. If u wanted a character in the first place u would have saved up for them anyway. This banner is only bad for Gacha and slot machine addicts, who wants every character in the game. Edit: Oh,to add to that this banner is also bad for f2ps who are also Gacha addicts and want every character in the game.
What I think is that this new banner is only useful if, at a particular Chronicled Wish Banner, you have a FEW characters you might want, so even losing your 50/50 you still have a chance to get the other character you might want. Of course that's assuming that you can only lose 50/50 to the other characters on that banner (which, as I understand, is the case). For example - from Sumeru 5 stars I only have Nahida, so if (or when) they do a Sumeru-themed Chronicled Wish Banner, I will still have a good chance to get a character that I don't have, even if I lose my 50/50 (my long-term goal is to eventually have all characters, at least one copy of each - I mean, it still sucks if I aim at a specific character and lose, but as long as I get someone new, it's not THAT BAD for me... Unfortunately, when I lose my 50/50s I tend to get extra copies of characters I don't use... Looking at you, Mona and Keqing...)
I'm personally just super happy that I'm guaranteed a character if I select a character, or a weapon if I select weapons. Even if I lose my 50/50, like when I lost Xiao to Qiqi at 30 pity, I was honestly just happy to have a new character to play around with even if it wasn't the character I initially wanted. I hate pulling for characters on an event or standard banner and getting weapons instead - if I want weapons, I'll pull on the weapon banner! (which, granted, I almost never do anyways *for a reason* LMAO). I'm not much of a planner aside from saving when a very specific set of characters get confirmed and/or sometimes leaked. I saved for Xiao because I am desperate to bring my anemo boys home, and I'm saving for Kazuha for the same reason. Outside of my anemo babies, I don't care much for saving. I make my pulls, and whatever characters Hoyo wants to give me, I work with them. I find it much more fun that way, as I'm not stressing about "oh if only I had so and so for this team!" and am instead looking at what I *do* have and making teams with what I got. It's why I find characters so much more exciting than weapons and why I'm really happy I can guarantee a character. Cons aren't as exciting, I will admit, but still better than getting a weapon imo (can you tell I'm not a serious genshin player lmao, I get more excited about obscure 4* no one uses than I do about a 5* weapon that would work on half my roster)
I have a question... I just thought about this and i wonder if you build up constelation in full for some charachters, do you not get them later on when pulling? Because it has some sense if that happens, for example you had built bennet constelation in full to not get him pulled anymore since his constellation is built up fully.
If you have max constellation and you get another copy of 4-star, you get back 5 starglitter (equivalent of 1 pull). If you have max constellation and you get another copy of 5-star, you get back 25 starglitter (equivalent of 5 pulls).
I want Ganyu and i just got the pulls for her and i am guarantied but if there is going to be a Chronicled Wish with her in it i am going to be sad if my guarantee dose not transfer over. idk if i should wait for her rerun or wait for her to show up in the Chronicled Wish and give it ago. i am at pity 30 on the event banner and have around 70-80 pulls worth right now.
Most players are just being dramatic about this, this banner is the first almost decent chance for f2p to actually pull for weapons without too much problems, also some players say they need the guaranteed (lets say 160, because 180 is just so unlucky you should be more worried about not having 100% crit on your characters), if you dont have a guaranteed you need to save for 160 anyways, because "oh i have guaranteed" translates to "oh i just need to wait almost another year for the character to come". So as f2p if you want a character always save 160 primos, no matter which banner. But we have 2 things that need to be adressed: 1 - The 4 star is a problem, except if you get a banner like the one we have where 1 copy of yao yao is what you want. 2 - Losing 50/50 would be bad everywhere, but this banner is just bad overall, lets be honest for a second, the 3 best characters are from the standard banner, Albedo is going to face a powercreep, Klee isone of the weakest pyro dps and Eula... according to gcsim a C0 eula team does similar damage than Freminet C6 teams (and he is better at hyperbloom). Maybe other regions can be better, but for this banner i cant even dream of saying "nah i'd pull".
I still think that fate point issue is overblown. Oh no, you have to make choices... That was going to come with faster reruns anyway you look at it. You may as well be complaining about the gacha rates and f2p pull count instead. If I can't stand having things pass by that I can't afford to pull on, nobody else should be able to pull them either. Yeah, great idea.
Just imagine this is second event baner that's all, you need to choose on which you pull, it's no point to pull on banner if you don't have 160 pulls anyway!!!
Hey Jello how are you? I really really need help with who i should pull for. Kazuha or Neuvillette. I was going for Neuvillette c1 because he is my favorite character. He is the only character that i maxed out but i dont have Kazuha and i really like his play style as well. What would you advise?
I'm not Jello nor a very serious player, but I did wanna throw my two cents in and you can do what you want with it lol. New characters to add to your account and put into teams are always fun. And if you already know you like their playstyle, that makes pulling for them all the better
I'm one of those who only pulls one limited 5* on the weapon banner, and only when both weapons are great for my account. I'm surprised to hear you say that it's a rare case. It's the only thing that makes any sense to me, as a welkin-only player. Sure if you're a dolphin or above you can afford pulling with a specific weapon only in mind, that's also the only time you can afford going for weapons on the chronicled wish, unless you have a specific character that you're going to main come hell or high water. If that's the case by all means go for the best of the best for them. If you're trying to get the maximum amount of power for your account on a small budget, don't ever touch this banner. The only exception is if they add a ton of strong signature weapons/limited 5* to it (and ideally remove some of the standard banner tripe). For example Staff of Homa and Aqua Simulacra, Hu Tao and Yelan on the Liyue banner. I HIGHLY doubt they will but if they do the value calculation can shift a lot.
So basically, the downside is when you decide to gamble your remaining fates after you already got the guarantee you were saving for. Just... don't pull, jfc. Don't waste your fates if it's not enough. Don't greed out. My only gripe with this banner is the nonexistence of a 4* rate up, since those are the ones who are in need of cons.
I haven't found anyone else discussing one thing about the weapon half of the Chronicled Wishes... I swear I heard them say that if you lose the 50/50 on the weapons, then you're going to get a 5* that is the same weapon type as the one you Designated. This means that if you Designate Wolf' Gravestone, then you could end up with Beacon, or Song, or Skyward; but if you Designate Hunter's Path, then it's likely that you're only going to end up with Skyward...unless they didn't include all the possible weapons that will be available.
You’ve misunderstood; if you select a weapon as your designated 5* you will get 5* weapon, not necessarily of the same type - you just can’t get a character
From that post: "whereas if the Designated Item is a weapon, the 5-star items you can obtain in the Wish will all be weapons." It didn't specifically contradict what you thought they implied from the livestream in this case, but in other cases it has. Just disregard the livestream and expect that you can get any weapon type if you choose a weapon.
The thing is, there will NEVER be a "fair" gacha. Literally the whole point is to make money off people; if you could get characters easily and cheaply the game wouldn't make money. I think this new banner is better than the weapon banner and standard banner so overall it's a good addition to the game. But it is still gambling, never forget that. Gambling is never fair because the house makes money from having better odds than you. Frustration is a key way of manipulating people into spending (not angry enough to quit, but too angry to let it sit. All it takes is a little money and you walk away happy.)
You can wish on the chronicled banner if you can keep 90 wishes in the bank. e.g.
Have 100 wishes? Go do that 10 pull. Either you (A) get your fated, (B) you get the fate point, or (C) you don't get anything.
If (A), hurray you beat the gacha
If (B), you have those 90 wishes to utilize the fate point
If (C), you dont get anything but built pity and now you dont have a fate point making you want to pull out your wallet.

Definitely the way to go about it. So for me, I would probably never pull on that banner unless there's truly no future character I like within 4 patches. It can be a great system for people who are more interested in constellations/weapons, and new players that want the older characters more than the newer ones.

This banner is a complete mystery for future runs.. no idea of how frequent it's going to be, who will be on it, heck we don't even have any Inazuma characters to fill those standard slots so will they ever do an Inazuma one? Who knows what's gonna happen.
Just consider this banner as a bonus one. Don't wish unless you have 180 wishes. Don't greed. Plan your pulls. And you're good to go

I'd say one other potential con is that with so many characters rerunning, if the amount f2p currency isn't increasing, then there will be even more fomo since we don't know when these characters will get another banner. This update is technically 7 limited time characters. Not to say you need to get all of them, but you would have to have been saving for an update or 2 if you plan to get more than 2 characters and/or weapons.
Though I think the banner is still important to help with the rerun issue even if it does increase fomo. As long as the chronicle banner lasts an update or maybe 2 then it might not be a big deal. I just wish they were more specific with how often the banner will be available, because all they said was it would be back occasionally. 😂
Amount of free primogems and fates coming from the game is always lower than the rate at which new 5* characters are coming so as F2P you have zero chance to ever have all characters. How many extra characters you don't have are there is irrelevant but what is relevant is the fact that you will now have more to choose from when pulling for them.
The fact we have more reruns or faster reruns is an undeniable win.
Fomo would be way harder with the char coming now and leaving for a year like we were going to.
Knowing that the rerun will be sooner actually reduces the Fomo.
And relax, they said that the second rerun banner would come "from time to time" as well. And every update after that had a second rerun banner.

Tbh "the banner issue" is the only reason this thing exists. It's not designed to make characters rerun more often, it's designed to make characters rerun exactly as often as they already are, which is once per 8-12 months depending on how popular they are or whatever. So yeah, it's good they implemented this for that reason, but the net result is essentially more decision paralysis and fomo on banners, which is just what happens when the number of characters keeps going up and up.

Ok, I work at a Casino so I think I have a unique perspective on this(although it’s probably will be downvoted to hell lmao). I think punishing people for just “throwing in a few fates to try my luck” is a heathy thing. Discouraging people from treating the banners as a slot machine may not be the best for the game, but it’s better for the players.
At a casino, you’ll see rich people play games with terrible odds, just throwing away tens of thousands of dollars. Then you’ll see poor people play almost true odds games like double deck blackjack.
The reason for this, is that if a game has a lot of deterrents from playing it, only people who are really comfortable throwing away their money will play them. If a game is really inviting, if there are fewer punishments for just throwing some chips in to try your luck, poor people get drawn to those games, because the prospect of ‘maybe I’ll win this time’ is an attractive one.
(P.s. if you see a rich person playing like a poor person they’re probably cheating lmao)
I think having the fate point be thrown away, in a weird way helps players develop better habits. They’ll be more likely to save, more likely to plan out their account.
There are negatives sure, the fate point going away will create a kind of ‘sunken cost fallacy’. But in my opinion the banners already have that because they are limited, and maybe the character will take more than a year to rerun. This new banner solves that last point though, so I still think it’s a net positive.

this is how its always been tho, smart people save and get what they want/get rewarded doing so, impulsive spenders have to face the consequences of their actions. In a game that GUARANTEES your desired 5* item its hard to call the genshin gacha system a "gamble" as its more like a milestone lol

I think the most important thing is to really understand and accept how the banner works and act accordingly - either prepare a guarantee, or accept the fact that you won't have one.
To me, losing fate point on weapons banner is no issue, I've done it number of times. I just try to get a weapon I like and either I get it or I don't, when the next weapons banner comes I try again. The same way it is possible to spend low amounts of wishes on the chronicled wish banner, you just need to accept the fact that you are always on 50/50. Still, there's 70% chance you'll get a featured character (50% you get the one you charted the course for, and another 10% for each of the other two). That is really not that bad. And the prospect is that over time standard banner characters will be gradually pushed out by old featured ones.
With that said, I really think that being able to transfer that fate point to different character or weapon or to next run of the banner would not hurt the game. It is sad that Hoyo did not do that. But since we did not get it, all we can do is to work with the system we got.

Im only ever gonna have 180 wishes when wishing, and only on chronicle banner, because itll motivate me to save, and i can get garenteed normal limited characters but also the potential to loose a 50/50 to another limited character? also weapon banner will be insane on it
I'll keep pulling on limited since idc about the old characters and I really likw 4 star rate-ups, but as the game progresses and the current characters get old enough to go on chronicle, it'll definitely get more appealing

They are definitely threading the way to ensure that the current banner is still legit best option to pull for people that want the new stuff. If they screw that up, people are going to only pull from the Chronicle Banners and that will affect sales. They make sure that they had to be their own limited banners 3 times or not in the circulation for a while to be featured in the chronicle banner. This way people don't just wait for the chronicle banner to pull their favorite character.
There is also this notion that people get smarter after they lose a lot of money. This is probably why HoYo do not want to cater to Veteran players as they don't spend as much money as new players that are new to the gacha system. They will make sure the game is new comer friendly and they can get their money (as they haven't lose too much yet) and keep the game/company funded.
Yeah, they have to balance to make sure people still pull from the featured banners and for those that missed them, they can look forward to the chronicle one. So, if you don't have any character or weapons yet, the featured character and weapon banner are the best value. However, if you missed them, you can then laser focus on the character/weapon you missed on the chronicle banner.
It's crazy how much you have to be willing to spend/invest in this banner right now for these characters. There was no way of planning for it ahead of time, so if you were hoping for eula/albedo/klee later in 4.X, or you want a standard 5-star... this banner is pretty much demanding your primogems and interrupting any plans you may have for 4.5+
That's really the case regardless, though, isn't it? You constantly see people posting that they want A, but B is coming up, so A has to wait or they are putting off B. And since we generally don't know what characters are re-running much ahead of time, unlike the new characters, plans often get disrupted.

You could though, the leakers were saying about a new banner being feleased before/in the beginning of 4.4 patch. You could predict it by analysing the characters that havent had a rerun for a while. And we can relatively safely assume the next cronicled banner will most likely have shenhe, ganuy (they meet the criteria of this banner, havent rerun for a while and a wave of fontaine reruns and releases is coming and will take up the regular banners) , qiqi and keqing and possibly other liuye 5*. Plus the addition if this banner will most likely shorten the average rerun time so people will feel safer skipping someone knowing they will have another chance to get them sooner.

By pulling for another limited 5 star, you were already risking that you win the 50/50, and thus lose your guarantee for Klee if she showed up in a normal limited banner in 4.5.
as an older player i can plan around it or ignore it, but my biggest gripe with this banner is how horrible it will be for new players who will pull on it without understanding that pity doesn't carry over or any of it's other nuances, which was also why acquaint fates were suggested by many, it's true that it won't make much difference for old players but it would help the new ones which i thought was the point of the banner to begin with

Honestly if you're a new player I don't think you should be worried about what character you're pulling that early on in the game because anything works at that AR level. Shit I was a Qiqi main until 1.2 when I got Ganyu lol

This is a huge win for me. I anyway stock up intertwined fates, use only welkin purchases. As a Diluc main of 3 years, this is the only way I can get his cons, so gonna aim for his C2 and C3 this 4.5.

The problem with fate point carry over is that it basically a straight upgrade for the weapon chronicled banner. Right now the average of getting your desired limited weapon is about 105 ish, as the usual weapon wish has 75% for getting limited on banner
I'm constantly back and forth between this, because on the one hand it's really nice to have a choice on these, but on the other hand it's an "all-or-nothing", there is no "ok I'll go for a guarantee on the next one if I lose here" like there is with the character banner. Basically players will just have to be much more careful going forward, and also plan with the potential of a Chronicle dropping in mind, which is a bit more complicated than before and no more reserving a guarantee for later.
Just save and plan ahead. The advantages are way bigger

I am a month 1 player, and after a certain amount of time, you no longer need additional new characters.
I consistently clear spiral abyss at 36 without effort. And I have almost 300 unspent extra wishes.
All or nothing is honestly the best strat though. You'll see less people whinging about losing 5050 and being forced to wait until the next rerun if more people learn how to save at least 180 fates.
@@carloscalderon2808 sure, as a month 1 player you have that luxury. Some of us have too many characters to go for all at once to try and fill out teams. I just dislike that this banner has added complexity with its expiring fate point system and a separate pity. It's overall good but shitty that it showed up out of the blue and some of us just have to miss out on it if we recently pulled to fill out an abyss team, hence the whole FOMO thing.
*Also I don't care about any of the limited 5-stars on the banner so I was never saving for klee/albedo/eula, I actually want Mona. I'm just salty I can't go for an attempt for Mona in good conscience, who we otherwise cannot guarantee on a usual banner, without possibly bricking the 50/50 and losing it after the Chronicle banner ends. If this was a normal 50/50 I'd just go to pity to see if I can win the coin flip, normally if it's a loss I can pocket the guarantee for later but obviously that isn't the case now.

Yea I mean my biggest issue is the “three banner limit meme”. So I started playing around two months before Nilou’s last rerun. I had no attachment to the character other than “dope, cute character” so I only did one ten pull. Now it’s around a year later and I played through her part in the archon story and love her character (tied for top with Raiden). Not to mention the story part with Shenhe was somehow super emotional to play through for me so I’ve got a soft spot for her character as well.
Basically I’ve been waiting for their re-runs and regretting sitting around just because I wasn’t into the game as much back then. So it’s super annoying that an arbitrary 3 banner rule is in place and I really can’t figure out why it even exists other than they might miss out on minuscule amounts of money by not having their faces front and center.
Relax, witht this banner they will have less characters to have reruns on the limited banners and nilou will rotate faster. And soon she will rotate to the new banner, if you want constellations after

People are acting like this is 2 steps backwards when it's literally just an extra footprint to the side. It doesn't hurt the game at all, at worst it's useless and at best it's very helpful. I guarantee people's opinion of this will change within the next few months
My ideas to fix the 4 star issue:
1. Instead of having 2 characters in the shop, have 4 instead.
2. Instead of every 30 days, the characters reset every 7 days.
3. Characters that you have full constellations on are removed from the pull.
4. Spend Stardust in the store to randomize the character roster. The more times you randomize the higher the cost. Cost resets every 24h.
Shenhe is the last character I need to give Ayaka her best team, so I've been saving for her. I'm glad she needs another rerun before she's eligible for the chronicled wish.
Regarding 4 stars, I've been playing since August 23 and I have at least one copy of the majority of 4 stars available, so I personally don't feel getting 4 stars is an issue. Oh, because it might be relevant, I am a budget player - battlepass since the start and 2 welkins, plus splurging to get Ayaka for my birthday since she's my favorite character.
Unfortunately none of the rumors of the past week point to a Shenhe rerun anytime soon. And if she's not eligible in the regional banner, who can say when we'll see her again?
I’m low spender and this is definitely new players bait the least they could do is guarantee the the selected character or weapon at lower pity or allow fate point transfer.
I think is important to say that with the addition of this banner you should do pulls one by one, specially near to soft pity, but better to do all In this way. Because you don't wanna have pity stuck on one type of banner and see that character you are wanting for coming in the other one.
Those 1 to 9 pulls unnecessarily spent on one banner after you got your 5 star, can make the difference to get your next one in the other banner of a different kind.
Idk about the perceived value of the theoretical Liyue chronicled banner - after all, Qiqi will inevitably be part of it. Imagine going for Tartaglia or Yelan (if they’re both on it) only to lose to - you guessed it - Qiqi.
Targalia is snezniyian. He wouldn't be on a Liyue Regional banner. Though he could be on some kind of themed banner involving the bullshit he pulled in liyue.
IMO part of the reason they're calling it a chronicle banner instead of a Regional banner is giving more flexibility to what they can put on it. they can theme it as a regional banner or they could theme it around some event and run characters somewhat connected to that event.
Especially next year when they can plan out their Limited banner releases so that characters can be put on Chronicle instead of limited and actually be able to pull for characters involved in the event running.
i.e. imagine if this year's lantern rite was next year (assuming Shenhe gets her third a banner in the next 3-4 months). They could've had Xiao, Ganyu, Shenhe, Hu Tao, Keqing, and Qiqi, who all make at least some apperance during the event, but especially Ganyu and Shenhe who got new outfits during the event and haven't run in nearly a year.
Chronicle could've been a way to have those characters available without interrupting the current limited wish cycles. (which was already dumb. the Bottle event was the only time I can think of at least in the last couple years, where the limited characters in the event were actually on the banner that ran along side it (except Kokomi since there was only 2 banners)).
Now they can go ham with it. And use them on Chronicle during an event period as long as they plan things out.
Since Eula and Klee appeared, the minimum cut off since the last limited banner appearance is apparently ~5 months, so that should be easy enough to plan around, especially since it mentions in the FAQ that being on Chronicle does NOT prevent being on another Chronicle Banner. Only limited banners do.
So they could run a regional themed banner and then do an event themed banner immediately that involves some of the same characters who are participating in the new event.
(chronicle also doesn't alter their eligibility for Limited banners, so, Phase 1 4.6 could have Arle/Albedo (even if very unlikely).
I won’t be pulling on this chronicled wish but if Hu Tao is ever on it, I might get her weapon but I’ll just wait and see

I don't know every character that counts for this, but I remember it said that it was going to be standard 5 stars & limited 5 stars who have had at least 3 reruns & have not recently had a rerun
You have to be super safe here, in my case this is fine since I want all of these but it won't be fine next rotation most likely, I choose to look at it like I do when building pity, I will only pull if I don't mind getting any of the other 5 stars.

This chronicle banner already has its advantage over the regular event banner, you have a chance to lose your 50/50 to a limited character compared to losing to a Qiqi for the 11th time.
the only disadvantage is the guarantee doesn't carry over, which can easily be overcome if you know how to save primogems and plan your pulls.
If your the type who immediately wish once you get 160 primogem, then this banner is really bad for you.
Devs wont make this chronicle banner equal or better since it will reduce the value of the existing event banner.

The cool thing is that we know that someday there will be Tignari in the banner, and that I have time to prepare. Maybe even go for the beacon. Imagine pulling for the beacon and getting hunter's path as a result of loosing the 50/50, just wow.
Most of people are upset not because of the banner itself, but because its everything they've got. No 4 star limitations on this one (hello keya,lisa,ember enjoyers). No interesting game modes (with more gems to farm of course), no QOL artifact sets that you could save for every character for fast equip. It's not a filler patch, its a lazy patch. Veluriyam Mirage is also a filler patch with no main story.
Its fun how people are oblivious about it earlier it was around 70 pulls in a patch and when people asked for rewards, they started giving free 10+3 pulls but removed primogems from every patch to make it around 55 pulls.

This banner vary from player to player in my case its a huge win especially especially the weapons.
One good thing I haven't seen anyone consider yet with this particular version of the banner is how great it will be for brand new players to wish on. They would get characters that are local to the area they are in, allowing them to finish exploration and story of the early zones without needing to explore later zones early just for the level up materials. It's very immersion breaking to have to visit other zones early in the story and very often leads to spoilers. The events have the same issue and include HUGE story spoilers.
The 4 star characters are not limited to an area. There is at least one 4 star character I know of that would be a spoiler just to have them too early.
As someone who snuck in to Sumeru early to do the Aranyaka quest, Hoyo did a decent job of keeping the archon and world quests separate. There’s even little things like certain NPCs in Sumeru’s towns don’t appear.
I’ll agree that the last two limited events are ridiculous spoilers though: on my alt account with almost no quest progression, I didn’t even get a warning popup when I walked around Liyue and bumped into an event that blurted out a voice line that would have spoiled the Archon quest about 4 acts from where that account was at.

this banner is literally perfect for dolphins. we all thought dehya and tigs weapons were gone forever, now they are back. want cons on some niche mondstat characters? here you go. looking for a specific 5 star weapon? boom. this banner is legit. and theres so much to do on the game its kinda hard to not always have 100+ wishes, especially if you save for a patch or two

We get so many more pink limited ones that it wouldn't make sense to use blue ones here, especially since it does have limited stuff in it. I think people maybe wished for whole different currency, or a system like in HSR where you can buy for example weapons for a huge amount of starglitter and such. But blue fates would not make much sense. I wish they revamped standard banner yeah, especially when it comes to 4* problem it's a HUGE problem. It would be fixed even with lantern rite selector equivalent in big regional events in other nations. I don't know why we don't have this, aside from hurr durr hoyo chinese game make fictional china nice.
One big win is for sure people being able to FINALLY guarantee a standard character. After 3 years they might be pretty desperate lol.

Basically, this problem is nothing new: more released characters will always mean you can't get them all as easy as before, since your "primogem income" won't change, but your expenses now double. The Chronicled Wish banner has separate history from the Event banners, similar to weapon banner, so you only go there for very specific purpose, and you go there prepared (meaning, 160+ intertwined fates are already at your disposal).
regarding fate points... the chronicled wishes u should make sure u can spare at least 180 pulls if u want to guarantee what u want..

I think the problem with being able to save a fate point is this ff scenario. If you wished for a weapon, lost your 50/50 so you got a fate point, then were able to save that fate point for the future chronicled wish and technically the fate point that you banked no longer has a “path” to follow because the weapon you were supposed to get was in the previous patch. If they allowed you to save a fate point, but locked it to the path type you were following e.g weapons, people would get mad you couldnt use that fate point on the charactwrs. BUT if you could use that fate point on the characters, this banner system would just be better then the limited banner in some cases because you have the ability to go for weapons, then keep the fate point for future characters or vice versa.
This shouldnt be allowed because the chronicle wishe isnt supposed to be a replacement for limited banners, just an alternative for more unwanted or old characters, but if we could keep that fate point, in either scenario of swapping paths or keeping it stuck, i think hoyoverse loses and ofc that cant happen
This is non-issue that is solved by ability to reset fate point - so you can choose if you either want to get locked in your guarantee type or reset it to be able to go for different 5* type but without a guarantee
The reason Hoyo “looses” with that system is that it doesn’t encourages FOMO spending as much as current system does

Def a great banner for weapons cuz it’s better than the current limited weapon banner system. As for characters, that depends on who’s in the rotation. If you want everyone in the current selection, it’s a W. So even if you lose, you might still get the character you wanted. That depends on the player of course but I think it’s still a good 3rd option.
The problem with any banner system whatsoever is that they are the only and main source of money Mihoyo actually consider. And thats comming from someone who pays monthly Welkin, Bp and have 3 payed skins (Diluc, Ayaka and Ganyu). - Which are the ones, avaliable, that i like the most
PGR has a banner where you select a specific A rank construct for rate up. It increases that characters rate up to 80%. Genshin could allow that in the standard banner.

i think an interesting solution to the 4 star problem you brought up is adding all 4 stars to the starglitter shop some point after their release (kinda like how we get artifact strongboxes every so often) and have every event patch where you get a free character be like the lantern rite patch, where rather than just getting a free fischl or whatever, you get to choose between multiple characters. cuz as a longtime player, i find a lot of times i already have c6 on the character they're giving me, or i dont play them, so having more variety could be good.
yeah, just the same deal. Once a 4* has at least 4 banner appearances (or 20+ banners since they last appeared (coughkavehcough)) which ever happens first, they get added to the starglitter shop permanently. Just remove the monthly rotation entirely. You can buy 1 copy of a given character per month being the only restriction on who you can get. And of course getting starglitter.
There's already rumors of them adding most of the weapon banner weapons to it including 5*s (especially the ones that aren't a limited character's signature). As well as adding new ways of earning star-glitter.
And once that flood gate is open it's only a matter of time before the standard 5*s (at least) end up on the shop for whatever the 5* weapons cost.

I have made a list of character I really want, and the only ones left on that lift are Ganyu and Kazuha... After I get them, I will just pull on whoever I seem to like at that moment.
So this banner is very good for me, because if I really decide I want a perticular character, it gives me more incentive to save my fates, for either this banner or if they come out on the featured one.
Also I might finally get my Jean eventually

Good points. I think this banner is primarily aimed at 'older' players, who already have plenty of characters built, and are able to plan ahead: save pulls for their favorites and/or start pulling for weapons.
I've been playing for 1y 3m, and I feel I'm at the brink of this state: once I pull Kazuha in 4.5, I'll have all the characters I need: All archons except Venti, Neuvi, Navia, Ayaka, Kokomi, Xianyun, Yelan, C6 Bennett, C6 XQ, C6 Sucrose, C6 Gaming, C4 Fishl, C1 Shinobu. (As well as a few lower-tier char's I love nonetheless: C6 Beidou, C6 Noelle, C6 Sara, C1 Diona, C2 Mika, C1 Yaoyao)
I was planning to start saving for the pyro archon. :-)
But she's still months away, so if I save up enough, in a few patches I might pull for some good 5* weapons in this new banner that I can maybe use on multiple characters.
As a player that almost always saves to be able to guarantee most of their pulls, and always has a bank of 20K+ primos, the cons of the chronicle banner honestly isnt aren't a big deal except for no 4star rate up. I think it just challenges f2p players to be a bit more careful and strategic with their pulls to be able to get the most out of the new banner. The bigger issue I see is that with 2 banners running, and a faster rerun cycle, we will be getting more characters faster running at the same time and have less time to save up between char banners you want to pull. This might be party a self-solving problem since theoretically missing a banner shouldn't be as bad since reruns should happen faster, but players may find that they are tempted to spend more primos per patch than b4 on average when we prob aren't getting more primos per patch than usual, and this might make primos feel even more sparse for f2p players.
With Neuvillete, Kazuha, and Furina reruns coming next patches, I don't really recommend F2P or low spenders going for these banners.

There's another big +/- to the weapon side of things: the weapon banner exclusive four stars. Some of these are pretty good, and at the very least, for longer term players, not ones they already have multiple copies at R5. So now you can wish for weapons here, but have 0 chance of getting those limited four star weapons. So that's the downside. Of course, the upside for newer players is you can get more copies of the good limited four star weapons, like favs and Widsith.
As far as the four star problem goes, honestly, I wouldn't want that for just this banner. That's an issue that needs a universal solution. And I know some people suggest that there should be rate up four stars, but honestly, I consider that another +/- thing, and overall a non-factor. As someone who mostly wants newer four stars, as those aren't at C6 yet, I don't want my four star options pushed into older characters. And with the quantity of four stars that would be "featured", the odds of getting a particular one would be garbage anyway, so kinda pointless. But, especially for Mondstadt and to a lesser degree Liyue, it would be nice for people who do want those OG OP four stars (and Lisa/Kaeya/Amber cons).
Frequency-wise, my expectation is that it will last for the entire patch, but that they'll aim for a 6 month+ time between banners rerunning. They probably will skip some patches, though. Like Sumeru will probably happen in 5.1 at the earliest.
I don't recall any mention of what four stars will be available on the chronicled banner. How do you know there are four star ones that won't appear? I'm skeptical that some will, but do you have a source? Other than that question, I agree with your take.

I'd pull for the weapon in that scenario. You can't even guarentee both right now. But there's still the entire patch itself to save up and the 3 weeks on the banner itself to pull in. They also won't take too long to rerun.

I think the issue is the f2p economy. You get 50 wishes a patch if you do everything ( no one does everything ) so to even use their banner without risking a loss you have to do everything and not roll for 4 patches. Starrail fixes this in that you usually get 90 wishes a patch for almost no effort, so you at least get 1 5* every main patch.

There are two big important questions we still don't know the answers to. How often will this banner appear and how long is it going to last? If it lasts long enough you have a chance to grind as hard as possible during it's duration and save your fate point from going to waste. Also, will Hoyo just chain older characters to this banner and never give them a proper rerun? If yes, we might be ok with Mondstadt (lots of old and not very popular characters) but when Liyue, Inazuma and Sumeru banners eventually come we might be losing forever some very good older units if Hoyo considers them not profitable enough and retires them to this banner.
Overall however, it's strange that so many people feel like it's not their responsibility to control their poor money habits and gacha addiction, but somehow Hoyo's. The company is never your friend.

Don't expect the most unprofitable to appear again. Some others may appear. The rule of appearing at least in 3 banners guarantees that they will have their time to shine on main banner and will make reruns faster.

I think if they want to "improve" this new banner they should do 1 or some of these things: lower hard pity to 80, fate point carries over to the next banner, the banner becomes permanent and they just keep adding new chronicle wish banners, you can use both intertwined and acquinted fates, remove the standard banner characters in the pool of characters but increase the fate point to 2 so that you can only lose to limited banner characters or make it so when you do 10 pulls you get an extra 1 more pull so 11 but only when you do 10 pulls and not singles.
In my view, the chronicle wish is there to push people to wish. I think most of the people who'll wish on this banner will treat it more like a slot machine than actually attempting to get a character. The weapon banner is an improvement because it only requires 1 fate point, but hopefully we see the more desirable weapons here too.

There isn't any reason that the fate point isn't carried over like normal banner 50/50 loss...
about the weapon banner and waiting to get two weapons you want to pull, it also doesnt really work well because there's always a chance of getting a standard banner weapon. For example, I just got xiao and yae miko, and went to pull on weapon banner, I set the path to jade spear, got an early, but lost the 25/75 for my 2nd skyward spine (literally the only 5* weapon I had and game gave me a 2nd one, smh), and in the end I went to pity and won the 25/75, so in the end even if I lose the 25/75 I didnt get yae's weapon. Ofc this is not the case for everyone, but I felt like I needed to add this, in the end the chronicle's path weapon banner is the same as the regular weapon banner, maybe with more chance of getting the weapons you dont want, but not really that different.
Yup I thought about the 'getting early' situation and I've simply come to terms with the fact that rolling the dice for extra cons is just not worth it. if you saved 180 and you get your character early and only have say 110 left, that's a W, but the W is the saved wishes, and not the ability to roll the dice a 2nd time, unless you're absolutely willing to pay. being willing to top up absolutely changes the math on how far you can/should go when risking your fates. I know I'm willing to spend X amount to get an extra Eula con, but if my remaining fates after getting what I want first don't dictate that I can guarantee the next one, I bail, and save for future banners/Eula's next rerun/next one of this banner with something I want on it.
I see this as a win for newer players who have not have many 5s characters in their roster yet. It build account faster which is really good. @Jello Impact I can’t wait for your account planning video. Which I believe will help players out
I like the idea of choosing a "loser" character but even 2 would be good for example: I want Eula so I would choose her as my target, and then I would choose 2 lose options for Jean that I do want and Mona because I don't mind getting her
The fate point thing can be remedied by simply not pulling unless you have enough for a guarantee.
Easier said than done though, cause f2p are restricted by the amount of pulls they can get each update and having to wait months (or even years) for the items/characters you want is hell. So the pressure to spend money is insanely high.
I despize the Genshin team more with each patch, ngl. For all the issues they fix and features they add there are still too many negatives for me to be impressed.
Too little, too late. This banner is not all bad, far from it, but the issues are big enough for me to once again side-eye the Genshin team (I don't mean issues with this banner but just in general). Especially after the "3 wishes for 3 years" disaster.
There's also one issue that I think you didn't mention that being it depends on the patch for the most part, you can't guarentee it especially since of its criteria being that its characters that hadn't gotten a recent rerun.

If there's another weapon you want, the best thing is for them to appear together on a weapon banner still.
This is just a mindset problem.
You never have wishes to spare. You always need 180 wishes for a character.
If you let yourself get baited into wishing on something you can´t guarantee it´s your own fault, not the banners.
There needs to be a 4 star banner like the Noelle banner tbh that occurs 4 times per version or a 4 star pity system as you stated.
I'll kind of lucky. I don't save for new characters. If I really like a new one, their trial run is good, and I have extra; I will pull. I save for favs that I really want. The problem is that, I don't always get who I saved for(I've missed Shenhe twice now). I also need cons and certain weapons. I have had to pass on getting cons the past two patches while waiting for Albedo and Shenhe. Don't even get me started on Kaeya cons, or pulling Wolves Gravestone.
i hope this dosent mean that the limited time banner for this characters and future ones arent delayed for an eternity because they are on here (not complaining but just pointing something i see a lot of people not pointing as often)
I was so excited for Eula, and i wanted to save for her weapon as well...now i gotta wonder how exactly these banners work because i gotta save :,) hope shes on the banner next time mondstadt comes around
No matter what this is still better than whatever Love and Deepspace did, they have also a similar fate point, but the banner lasts only for 6 days, so even though i was 10 wishes away from guarantee, i couldn't actually get my guaranteed character despite the fate point being brought over. As long as the banner is around 20 days im okay because i only want Albedo and i already have other characters like Kokomi, Kazha, Ayaka, and thankfully i got Nahida in 20 wishes
Yeahh the fate point fomo situation is the same as on the weapon banner. Not *as* bad because its only 1 vs 2 but its still got that same bait feeling
Make it able to use Standard Fate pulls too and its the best thing ever. I still refuse to use my 500+ standard pulls until we get something else we can use standard pulls with.
That will never happen because of the limited 5*s included.
The 4star hell would be minimized A LOT if they force you to get CHARACTHERS in the character banner and WEAPONS in the weapon banner when you win/lose. Sure, it might still be a slight of chance for you not to have a single copy of said 4 star, but what made me not to get the last 6th con of Faruzan were those freaking weapons that i've got, imho.
I'm really glad you understood that this banner is not an absolute w like u stated earlier. Honestly speaking this banner won't be used much (unless they add actual good character) and the fate point issue makes it more unappealing for f2p.
The weapons in this banner is a W over the weapon banner because for an avg to worst case this banner requires far less pulls.
It is an absolute win.
Even if you never use it, the faster rerun pace is a undeniable win.
@@pontoancora No mentioned was made of not rerunning the limited character that appear on it again on their own. There is no indication that the pace is increased if you don't pull this banner.
@@pontoancora you'd think that would be the case... But in the article it says that these characters can still come up in limited banners. Also with fontaine characters yet to be released as natlan coming up, we'll be back to square one after some time.

I only see it as a good thing though. If u wanted a character in the first place u would have saved up for them anyway. This banner is only bad for Gacha and slot machine addicts, who wants every character in the game.
Edit: Oh,to add to that this banner is also bad for f2ps who are also Gacha addicts and want every character in the game.

What I think is that this new banner is only useful if, at a particular Chronicled Wish Banner, you have a FEW characters you might want, so even losing your 50/50 you still have a chance to get the other character you might want. Of course that's assuming that you can only lose 50/50 to the other characters on that banner (which, as I understand, is the case). For example - from Sumeru 5 stars I only have Nahida, so if (or when) they do a Sumeru-themed Chronicled Wish Banner, I will still have a good chance to get a character that I don't have, even if I lose my 50/50 (my long-term goal is to eventually have all characters, at least one copy of each - I mean, it still sucks if I aim at a specific character and lose, but as long as I get someone new, it's not THAT BAD for me... Unfortunately, when I lose my 50/50s I tend to get extra copies of characters I don't use... Looking at you, Mona and Keqing...)
I'm personally just super happy that I'm guaranteed a character if I select a character, or a weapon if I select weapons. Even if I lose my 50/50, like when I lost Xiao to Qiqi at 30 pity, I was honestly just happy to have a new character to play around with even if it wasn't the character I initially wanted. I hate pulling for characters on an event or standard banner and getting weapons instead - if I want weapons, I'll pull on the weapon banner! (which, granted, I almost never do anyways *for a reason* LMAO).
I'm not much of a planner aside from saving when a very specific set of characters get confirmed and/or sometimes leaked. I saved for Xiao because I am desperate to bring my anemo boys home, and I'm saving for Kazuha for the same reason. Outside of my anemo babies, I don't care much for saving. I make my pulls, and whatever characters Hoyo wants to give me, I work with them. I find it much more fun that way, as I'm not stressing about "oh if only I had so and so for this team!" and am instead looking at what I *do* have and making teams with what I got. It's why I find characters so much more exciting than weapons and why I'm really happy I can guarantee a character. Cons aren't as exciting, I will admit, but still better than getting a weapon imo
(can you tell I'm not a serious genshin player lmao, I get more excited about obscure 4* no one uses than I do about a 5* weapon that would work on half my roster)
I have a question... I just thought about this and i wonder if you build up constelation in full for some charachters, do you not get them later on when pulling? Because it has some sense if that happens, for example you had built bennet constelation in full to not get him pulled anymore since his constellation is built up fully.
If you have max constellation and you get another copy of 4-star, you get back 5 starglitter (equivalent of 1 pull).
If you have max constellation and you get another copy of 5-star, you get back 25 starglitter (equivalent of 5 pulls).
I want Ganyu and i just got the pulls for her and i am guarantied but if there is going to be a Chronicled Wish with her in it i am going to be sad if my guarantee dose not transfer over. idk if i should wait for her rerun or wait for her to show up in the Chronicled Wish and give it ago. i am at pity 30 on the event banner and have around 70-80 pulls worth right now.
Most players are just being dramatic about this, this banner is the first almost decent chance for f2p to actually pull for weapons without too much problems, also some players say they need the guaranteed (lets say 160, because 180 is just so unlucky you should be more worried about not having 100% crit on your characters), if you dont have a guaranteed you need to save for 160 anyways, because "oh i have guaranteed" translates to "oh i just need to wait almost another year for the character to come". So as f2p if you want a character always save 160 primos, no matter which banner.
But we have 2 things that need to be adressed:
1 - The 4 star is a problem, except if you get a banner like the one we have where 1 copy of yao yao is what you want.
2 - Losing 50/50 would be bad everywhere, but this banner is just bad overall, lets be honest for a second, the 3 best characters are from the standard banner, Albedo is going to face a powercreep, Klee isone of the weakest pyro dps and Eula... according to gcsim a C0 eula team does similar damage than Freminet C6 teams (and he is better at hyperbloom). Maybe other regions can be better, but for this banner i cant even dream of saying "nah i'd pull".

I still think that fate point issue is overblown. Oh no, you have to make choices... That was going to come with faster reruns anyway you look at it. You may as well be complaining about the gacha rates and f2p pull count instead. If I can't stand having things pass by that I can't afford to pull on, nobody else should be able to pull them either. Yeah, great idea.
For the characters its the same as the regular limited banner just think of it as a 3rd banner for character but for weapon its a lot better
Just imagine this is second event baner that's all, you need to choose on which you pull, it's no point to pull on banner if you don't have 160 pulls anyway!!!

Hey Jello how are you? I really really need help with who i should pull for. Kazuha or Neuvillette. I was going for Neuvillette c1 because he is my favorite character. He is the only character that i maxed out but i dont have Kazuha and i really like his play style as well. What would you advise?

New characters to add to your account and put into teams are always fun. And if you already know you like their playstyle, that makes pulling for them all the better
I'm one of those who only pulls one limited 5* on the weapon banner, and only when both weapons are great for my account. I'm surprised to hear you say that it's a rare case. It's the only thing that makes any sense to me, as a welkin-only player. Sure if you're a dolphin or above you can afford pulling with a specific weapon only in mind, that's also the only time you can afford going for weapons on the chronicled wish, unless you have a specific character that you're going to main come hell or high water. If that's the case by all means go for the best of the best for them. If you're trying to get the maximum amount of power for your account on a small budget, don't ever touch this banner. The only exception is if they add a ton of strong signature weapons/limited 5* to it (and ideally remove some of the standard banner tripe). For example Staff of Homa and Aqua Simulacra, Hu Tao and Yelan on the Liyue banner. I HIGHLY doubt they will but if they do the value calculation can shift a lot.
So basically, the downside is when you decide to gamble your remaining fates after you already got the guarantee you were saving for.
Just... don't pull, jfc. Don't waste your fates if it's not enough. Don't greed out.
My only gripe with this banner is the nonexistence of a 4* rate up, since those are the ones who are in need of cons.
I haven't found anyone else discussing one thing about the weapon half of the Chronicled Wishes...
I swear I heard them say that if you lose the 50/50 on the weapons, then you're going to get a 5* that is the same weapon type as the one you Designated.
This means that if you Designate Wolf' Gravestone, then you could end up with Beacon, or Song, or Skyward; but if you Designate Hunter's Path, then it's likely that you're only going to end up with Skyward...unless they didn't include all the possible weapons that will be available.
You’ve misunderstood; if you select a weapon as your designated 5* you will get 5* weapon, not necessarily of the same type - you just can’t get a character
Their communication was poor in the livestream. The post they made about it on the "Genshin Impact Official" account on Hoyoverse was more detailed.
From that post: "whereas if the Designated Item is a weapon, the 5-star items you can obtain in the Wish will all be weapons."
It didn't specifically contradict what you thought they implied from the livestream in this case, but in other cases it has. Just disregard the livestream and expect that you can get any weapon type if you choose a weapon.

The thing is, there will NEVER be a "fair" gacha. Literally the whole point is to make money off people; if you could get characters easily and cheaply the game wouldn't make money. I think this new banner is better than the weapon banner and standard banner so overall it's a good addition to the game. But it is still gambling, never forget that.
Gambling is never fair because the house makes money from having better odds than you. Frustration is a key way of manipulating people into spending (not angry enough to quit, but too angry to let it sit. All it takes is a little money and you walk away happy.)
