The HST keeps setting the standard in all of the calibers that it comes in. This is a great addition to their lineup.
Yes it is.😎👍
Let’s just hope they listen to the emails we send and get the 200 grain 10mm moving 100-150 fps faster from a 4-4.5” barrel. 200gr at 1250fps minimum is ideal. Then they would be the king of 10mm “JHP” without question. It would be real 10 energy with IMO perfect penetration and expansion with great barrier performance. Same with 380. Just need to see better terminal performance, again IMO. I’d like to see a minimum of 16” in gel through clothing with their expected expansion and disruption. For now I can’t see using any 380 EDC ammo other than UW XD or XP.
I believe the HST can be made to do better in those two calibers “if” Federal decides to make it happen.
Their 38 special was so bad, they discontinued it. Every other HST is a solid performer.
@@RealtyPro7I'm still going to get a box of hst for my Glock 20 but for now I have winchester defender elite 180 grain
@@user-dm4yx3iz5f I did too. HST does perform extremely well in the tests! Have several boxes and filled mags. Same with the UW XD. And more with the UW coated hardcast. But for some reason I seem to keep carrying the UW 200 grain XTP. Force of habit I suppose. Lol. That tends to ride onboard the G20 or G29 with Xtreme Defender in the main backup pocket mag.
How do you like your G20? I recently finally changed from a heavily used Gen 3 to a new 4. As predicted, as soon as I had it set up the way I like, the Gen 5 hit the shelves! But it’s my main and most trusted EDC. Never had to use this new one in self defense, only forced to draw it once. Never had to use it on a critter either, but I’m confident it will work 100% just like the Gen 3. I’ve never had any Glock that failed to function perfectly out of the box and also after being beaten up for years.
The great thing about a .357 Magnum revolver is that the versatility is insane. A good service size revolver in .357 Mag is a great investment.
Agreed
THAT was a great test! Even from the shorty it worked great! The funny thing is that out of both length barrels, the HST performed better than 80% of the 10mm tests we've seen lately. 🤣
😂😂😂
@@SuperD00D 9mm nowhere near 10mm 9mm guys love to keep lying tying to move up the scale what's next......it hits harder than a 12gauge slug???
I have a Henry 357 with 20" barrel. Like to see how they preform with the long barrels.
Definitely on the list.😎👍

What barrel length?
357 out of a lever action is a completely different animal. Devastating.

Great test. HST is consistently amazing regardless of caliber.
I agree 💯
Great stuff.😎👍
Just bought a couple of boxes. I was bummed out when they stopped making hydra shocks, but I’m glad have totally redeemed themselves with the HST
Another winner for sure.😎👊
Hst is everything the hydrashok was supposed to be and and everything it ever wanted to be
@@SwampOperator I agree I’m so glad they decided to include revolver cartridges to the HST line
This got me excited I’m a big fan of both 357 and hst projectiles because hst never disappoints and 357 is truly a mans round I’d be interested to see the in a lever gun now
Definitely gotta do that.😎👊
@@ToolsandTargetsnice 👍 can't wait for that need to get me some of this stuff
Hot .357 Mag from a lever carbine can get right up close to .300 BLK supers in ballistics; very versatile light rifles with good handling and an innocuous appearance
HST is one of the few if not only .357 sig rounds that arent watered down... I get 1450 from a 4 inch barrel.
Nice 😎👊
Thanks Brother for taking the time to make this video for us! Looking forward to future ammo and primer availability videos at your local stores.
Appreciate that!😎👊
@@ToolsandTargets Great video! Interesting the HST expanded more AND penetrated more than the Underwood ammo, yet the HST had less energy. Ya never know!
EVERYONE sure appreciates your videos Tools no matter if you're ammo searching or doing the 'jelly' time. They are always informative, so again, 'Thank You' for all your down home sharing with us.
Really appreciate that!😎👊
That bug got his world rocked at 6:30 😂
I almost did a close up on him during editing.😂😂😂
Most excellent demonstration, brother Tools. I've been a fan of .357 performance since the 80's. This is some really good ammo.
I would LOVE to see a (TRUE) 10mm bonded HP like this one, a Gold Dot, or Winchester Defender, in a 500 or 1,000 Rd case lot, at a discount. I think there are a lot of folks who would also appreciate such an offering. I'm hoping someone from those companies sees this and acts on it. They gotta hurry. The Zombie apocalypse is coming fast and furious.
Thank you sir.💥🧟♂️💥
HST has always been my favorite and in .357 it doesn't disappoint. I daily carry the 147 gr in 9mm. Might have to get some for my little 605 as well. HST does also make a 38 spl +P round that also performs exceptionally in the 2" barrel snub nose, with a bit less kick.
It's easy to see why there were so many 1 shot stops with the .357 Mag. Whether it is the king of that stat, or not, its easy to tell its capable by any standard.
Another awesome video! Thanks! You know there’s a crowd that wants to see 3”
Got something in mind just for that.😎👍
Very nice! Impressed with the snubby performance! Like those grips on the 605! You know it just gets better in 6" or a lever! 💥
Yessir. These grips do a great job of soaking up recoil.
That's what Im talkin bout!! :D @@SuperD00D
I was waiting for this test for a while, I knew you would eventually find a box. These HST's really are impressive, I mean for there to be a 200 fps difference between the 2" and the 4" and 170 ft. lb. difference and the 2" had basically the same penetration as the 4" that says something. Thank You Sir and have a good one brother see you on the next one.
They got it figured out.😎👊
Wow what performance. Can't wait for the Henry 20" review of this HST 357 offering. Great, informative video...Cheers!
I've been waiting for this video, I had been looking for videos on this for a while but no one had one up yet. This is exciting.
Great stuff.😎👊
Great test - thanks! Looks like this one is a definite winner for short-barrel carry guns (and any other gun you want to run it through).
Nice! Federal hits another home run with the HST. I figured when this finally got released it would perform but that was phenomenal performance from the 2”! Awesome video as always good sir 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for putting these up! I love your channel!
Thank you sir. Appreciate that.😎👊
Thanks for another great video T&T
Just ordered some of this ammo for my lever gun
Deer season starts nov. 15 and im extremely excited to see the performance of this ammo out of a 20" barrel on game 💥🦌💥
Great test Tools I carry the 124 grain Federal HST 9 mm every day one Great Round Stay Safe Stay 2A Strong 🇺🇸
Just picked up a box of these HST’s. Glad I did! Love your videos by the way!!
I need to get some of this for my 3” barrel S&W model 65.
After seeing your test I’m convinced.
Thanks for another high quality video.
Thank you sir. Glad I got a few boxes of it.😎👍
Love to see it out of a carbine. If you instead of just shooting for velocity you could see how it groups at 50-or 75 at the same time. That would be cool, as cucumber.
😎👊
Now I know what to use in my S&W 686 .357 Great video as usual!
Good stuff, and man, another illustration of the MASSIVE difference in energy a couple extra inches of barrel makes when it comes to 357.
Pretty crazy difference.😎👍
Good performance. Thanks for the test.
Thank you sir. Appreciate ya!😎👊
WOW!!! 1,115 fps with a 154 grain bullet from a 2" revolver AND it had great penetration, expansion and weight retention. That is impressive, gives the short barrel revolver carrier some confidence and reassurance. Good test Tools, thank you.
Definitely some great stuff.😎👊
That's a good test. Thanks for the video
❤ .357
Thanks for the test tools.👍🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

Love to see the jelly test and the numbers from a levergun. Awesome video. Thank you
Buddy , I appreciate your information ! I was just about to check the net fir the VERY thing you happened to be showing! Plus you told me what I needed to know about a snub-nosed revolver ! Thanks , buddy !
Appreciate ya checkin it out!😎👊
Thanks for these ammunition test. It helps me determine what I purchase and carry
Seeing those expanded bullets show why HST are my choice for carry rounds!
One of the best in most calibers.😎👍
As always the best most uniform ammo testing around! With the same gel and clothing barriers plus retesting ammo to give some a second chance, these tests help each person decide which ammo suits their particular needs. If companies are intelligent enough to watch and read, and care about their customers, these videos can also help them to improve. If they choose not to improve after seeing their shortcomings, then these will definitely help people know where to spend their money and what companies to cut loose. No one needs to carry ammo for EDC self defense that might be likely to fail or underperform. Only buy what’s expected to work and passed 3rd party tests repeatedly ✅
Amen. Appreciate ya, brother!😎👊
Great ammo test, great results even from the shorty , thanks for all your hard work
Thank you sir. It didn't disappoint.😎👊
Maybe if we say our prayers and be good little gun enthusiasts, Federal will bless us with .38 Special HST again.
Man that's some great performance out of my favorite caliber of all time.
This WILL be my carry round in all barrel lengths when I get my hands on some. Excellent work and thank you!
Thank you sir.😎👊
Looks like some nice stuff might pick up a few boxes for my buddy for Christmas
Thanks man, real good information.
Just got back from the range shooting revolvers. S&W 18-2 and 586, both four inch. 18 gets lots of use for DA, etc. 586 was second time to range since purchase. Both are outstanding revolvers. Will absolutely be buying a box or two of this stuff. Been using 125 gr. JHP’s. Think I like the performance of this load better.
I was a little surprised to see this heavyweight do so well in the 2".😎👊
Cool man, I got a few boxes of these in the mail the other day. Love the HST in pretty much every caliber.
Hard to beat em.😎👍
Thanks for testing these. I love the HST loads on 40 S&W and 45 acp. Been wandering how these 154 grainers would do. I'll be using a Rossi .357 Mag with a 6 inch barrel, so they should do even better. Love your videos. Keep up the good work.
Thank you sir.😎👊
Good test. That’s some good ammo. I picked up a box for my 686-6 and switched out my American gunner xtp’s. Now I’m rolling with the hst’s one in the speed loader and the gun.
Deadly!😎👊
Very impressive how the short barrel performed. The 4" was flawless. HST'S are just hard to beat.
Great test, I have been waiting a long time for this one! Made my day to see this test, just picked up this load a couple weeks ago, looking forward to shooting it out of my 6 inch Colt Python. As always Federal HST does the job, It's my sole carry ammo in all the calibers I carry.
Just got in a Wilson Combat rear sight for my Python. Still gotta install it.😎👊
That's great, I installed both front and rear Wilson Combat sights on mine.
I wasn't gonna change it but people kept commenting that I needed it so I figured I did!😆@@markperkins2284
I knew this was going to be interesting, .357 Mag always is.👍 Not that I doubted the HST at all, it is my go to for any caliber.
Pretty much a guarantee with HST.😎👊
That's impressive performance! I'm not a big .357 fan but this was awesome.
Yes indeed. Great stuff.😎👊
.357 is no joke. I used to think it was the same as 9mm until I watched the ballistic tests.
Saw these in academy the other day not bad performance, but not enough performance to make me switch from the Remington 125 Gr SJHP, thank you for another great ammo test 😊
I received 3 boxes of these 357 magnums from Rogers Sporting Goods on-line. Thanks for the video.
Will have to get some for my SP101. Great video as always 👍
Damn i'm glad i finally found your channel. Good stuff!
Appreciate you checkin it out!😎👊
It's not surprising for HST, from what I've seen personally and also your videos. As always, I appreciate all that you do, Sir. Keep the videos coming 👍.
Great review on a great product with excellent results!
Great!🎉 This is why HST is one of my favorite rounds.
😎👊
I was happy to see how good it did with the 605. My daily pocket rocket is a 605 and looks like I just found new ammo👍👍
Thanks Tools
Thanks for another good one Tools ! Excellent ammo right There !
Yessir 😎👊
Excellent performance. No surprise. Go get some. Thank you.
Thanks!
Thank you sir. Really appreciate that!😎👊
Thanks as always for the great work. Federal .357 magnum loadings have been monsters for, well, ever. The .357 might be 90 years old, but nobody wants to stand in front of one, that's fersure! Thanks again!

How about a 16" carbine gel test? Both looking great out of 4" and 2"!
I think both of my .357 rifles are 20". I forget what all I have.😆

That is perfect. Thanks for the video.

Great test , impressive performance!
Thank you sir.😎👊
Outstanding performance!
Make a great all around carry load in my humble opion.
I am gonna have to get me some of that ammo! I have a couple 3 inch .357s and a 4 inch revolver that I have been considering carrying. Thanks for showing it.

I had a couple of boxes in my online cart last week, but didn’t get it. Now I’m Getting It!!! I carry 2.5” and 4” S&W 686+ revolvers, and this looks great!
Agreed 😎👍
Can’t go wrong with any HST just tuff finding it sometimes
True times two.😎👊
I really enjoy your ammo reviews! I’m having the hardest time, finding some 10 mm buffalo bore. I have tried several of the local gun shops, and nobody has any in stock.
Appreciate that. I've never seen it stocked anywhere locally, sadly.😣
Midway and buffalo bore has em
Google it
Great performance even out of the snuby! Loving having a test to watch daily!😁🤤
Appreciate ya, brother.😎👊
Seen few test and shoot more my owns, This is a great 357 round and if you see or test it you see it works great in different barrel lenght and velocity. I have Dan Wesson in factory 10” and 6” barrel and I made custom 3,25” barrel and HST always work, I think HST is new Remington sjhp😁
Great performance thanks for another test.
Will be interesting to sed out of a 16" barrel
😎👊
I'm hoping one of those next tests is a rifle barrel. These could be great alternatives to the Remington HTP or Hornady Custom XTP loads I have for hunting.
Yessir 😎👍
Love your show, have you ever tested the semi auto energy loss vs a bolt action or tight revolver due to the energy it takes to change the cartrige out via muzzle volocity?
Awesome video. Thank you! 👊🏼
😎👊
HA! The fly on the table at @6:30 got rocked by the round from the 4 inch
probably still wandering around out there with a concussion.💥🐜💥
Glad to see that Federal got the memo about people who take the time and expense to buy magnum cartridges wanting magnum performance. I'd expect these 154 grains to do even better through windshields and car doors. Very nice velocity out of a snub.
Thats about as good as you can get out of a 2inch or 4in barrel. But that extra 169fpe sure smacked the gel out of the 4in. Need to get some for my 627 asap before it disappears. Appreciate the good info.
Yessir. Hit with authority.😎👊

Thanks Tool Guy. It's videos like this that we have good ammo.
🤣🤣🤣 Love it! 😎👊
They performed excellent and did what they are supposed to do. It's hard to beat brother tools on the freedom seed testing.
Thank you again, my friend!😎👊
It's almost a waste testing HST. It's just perfection EVERY time. No matter the caliber, no matter the weight, no matter the gun. On top of all that, you can buy HST 9mm for less than $0.60 per round. Probably ought to order another case of 124 gr 9mm HST now that I mention it..... lol
Finally starting to get the following you should have. Congrats on passing 50k
Impressive how close the performance is from these two barrel lengths with hst"s
I've always liked the HST. A very consistent performer.
Mhmm 😎👍
Good stuff! Thanks
😎👊
That's a good round all right. I would probably carry it in my 66-8 with 2.75" barrel. I think the recoil would be a bit much for me in the M&P340 that I do carry. 110s are really the bullet for the lightweight.
On a side note, I've been looking for 110gr SJHP .357" bullets for hand loading. I can't find them. XTPs are easy. But they don't open up like an SJHP does.
Cylinder gap imperfection is causing that drop off in velocity. Mark that cylinder on future tests, and you will see that's where the drop-off is at.
I keep forgetting to do that.
👍👍pretty impressive stuff, thanks tools. Those ought to work great out of my 3” ruger sp 101.
Got a 3" test planned as soon as I get a new 3" tool I picked up, tested.😎👊
Nice! Those would be good deer rounds for the 357... Definitely good self defense rounds.
Thank you.

Yeah it did.😂
@@ToolsandTargets and THIS is why the Ruger GP100 is my preferred .357 Magnum revolver
