    Hey Chris! A good option to separate parts is 3D builder you can add the model in and simply hit ungroup then you have two files to save out rather than having to make cuts and rely on slicer which can be slow on some systems. Just an option for those out there reading this! Great work on the channel loving your work!

      This was actually a LOT of help for me specifically, because despite having a laptop that can run crisis 1,2,3, Skyrim, and the Sims 4 it seems to HATE using a slicer software. Course, it's almost 10 years old at this point so... Fair enough lol.

    • @Chriss_Workshop
      @Chriss_Workshop  Před rokem

      Making it yourself is cheaper. But only because people charge for their time and labor. By the time you buy a machine, learn to use it, print the armor, sand, prime, and paint. You could have put those hours into work and earned the money to buy it. It all depends what you want to sink your time and money to. Learning a new skill, or buying it from someone who did it for you

      I have a makerbot mini available at work to use for personal use if I wish. I haven’t tried printing anything yet so here’s where I’m not sure if I’m asking the correct question.
      Is it possible to print something like this on even the smallest printer? Would just require cutting it into even more parts and more work afterwords.

    To minimize the use of material on the helmet it's better to slice it into three parts (upper dome, left side to the back and then leave the right side to the detailing on the back) uses soooo much less. Of course that means you need to spend extra time assembling after but there is always a trade off.

    • @Chriss_Workshop

      Yes but if i really wanted to i could've flipped it and printed the helmet like a bowl then sanded the marks left by the supports. Only promote the ways i've done it

    I'd like to know how much the guy had to pay you for this. I'm trying so hard to get mine with little money as possible. I'm trying to do one section at a time to make it easy. Are you still printing?

    • @Chriss_Workshop
      @Chriss_Workshop  Před 2 lety +1

      When i shot this video all of the parts are 100% finished as you see later in the vid and in the thumbnail. I wont discuss how much he paid but when you look at the financial breakdown, thats how much it cost me to make. And i made my money back

    16kg ? for this armor ?
    that total net weight of it came out as 5kg.or less ?
    so 11kg of support for 5kg for armor ?
    something is wrong in ur calculations i think

    • @Chriss_Workshop
      @Chriss_Workshop  Před 2 lety +1

      That is the total amount of filament used to print everything, according to the estimations given in cura

      @@Chriss_Workshop so you have on that table 15kg of armor ?
      it looks much less...
      how much did you end up really using ?
      5-6 spools ?
      i mean i have many friends that primted adult mandaloriam armors
      it never toom them 15kg of plastic...
      it sounds quit a lot...

    • @Chriss_Workshop
      @Chriss_Workshop  Před 2 lety

      This video was recorded over a year ago. All my notes and numbers are here on screen i owned 5 printers when i made this video. So it wasnt as simple as just keep replacing spools, set them to tye side, and count it all up when its done. I was also printing things for myself. Its why i have the grams used next to every piece i printed. The chest for example used a lot of materual because i had it laying down so there was plenty of support material so it didnt fail. The helmet, as many people have reported after printing their own, takes nearly a full spool of plastic with very minimal supports. If you dont believe me, i completely support you buying this model set off do3d.com. load and slice the models in cura. And compare your numbers to my own. A full mando set will take 16 spools based off of what i have

    • @Chriss_Workshop
      @Chriss_Workshop  Před 2 lety +1

      Remember, if you print the jetpack, thats a good 4 spools right there

      @@Chriss_Workshop thanks for this reply of yours
      your awsome
      16kg is a lot for this armor..it shouldnt br morr then 6kg for all of it. inc supports
      i dont know how its 16kg
      also
      please be minded to put your own supports will cut this filement in half
      and using 5kg spools for a job like this will cut costs in half again.
      the filement price shouldn't exceed 90usd.
      if it does something is wrong
      that 600 usd estimate is way overkill i think

    • @Chriss_Workshop
      @Chriss_Workshop  Před 2 lety

      cut it into bits. its what i had to do with the jetpack. a lot of people try to get into 3d printing cosplay with a machine the size of an ender 3. i like to try to enforce that while that is possible, i recommend a cr-10 build volume at the bare minimum

    • @Chriss_Workshop
      @Chriss_Workshop  Před 3 lety

      Im unsure about print time. A lot of these were under a day but spread out with other projects. I charge $500 for this set because of filament cost and time spent. Its a bit pricey compared to others sets but not everyone includes the jetpack like i did

      Barely. I've printed several of them since this video. As have many of my friends. The general consensus is to print standing upright and support block the top of the dome
