I have made 2 of these hats in last 2 weeks, 1 using the same yarn (Laté stripe) the other in yarn similar to Red Heart’s Green tones.
I love them both but the green one makes me think of long lettuce leaves like romaine or something, a friend called it “Very hippie dippie” for him this is the best compliment ever given! If I’d made the top of the hat yellow it would look like a big green sunflower.
Anyway I am new to crochet, started 3 weeks ago so if I can make this hat… this lady is a damn good teacher!!!
Question, did you follow the tutorial exactly and was the hat too big for you? I saw someone complain that it turns out to big and I just want to make sure I don’t have to change the pattern.

Sometimes you can crochet something simple but the yarn makes it POP! Super good choice of color!

Problem I'm having. This hat is waayyyy too big for my head. I'm on the first row of the brim, and the body of the hat is swimming on my head. I'm using a 3.5 mm hook and Red Heart yarn. (edited a few hours later), I unwound the hat up to round 7 and then made the hdc's until I got to 7 inches. Now making the brim, and it is coming out beautiful! It fits perfect, too. Thank you!

Hey question. When you went through for the DC, did you do yarn over or yarn under? Because I’ve just noticed I’m doing yarn over instead of yarn under like she did and that could be why it ended up larger.
I just watched the video again and I’ve noticed that she is doing yarn under. It makes a difference in size. Yarn under is tighter than YO. I will do it in YU.

I wanted to make my ma a hat, because she had hats that she made, loom knitted, so I thought it would be fun to crochet one for her. A nice hat for summer days. Really beautiful and stunning to look at. I hope she'll like it. I'll let you know once I give it to her.

I am in the process of making this hat, have followed everything to the letter but the head circumferance is way to big. There isn't any mention in the tutorial about measuring the head. Absolutely love this hat so I'm determined to figure this out. Any suggestions

I used the same yarn and same hook size and had to remove row 8 and 9 to fit my head
Hello. This is so cute. Your instructions are awesome. I am using the 3.5mm hook, however the hat seems kind of large, and will probably need more than one skein, and crocheting tightly. ANy suggestions, besides using a smaller hook size?

made the hat, used the 3.5mm hook and the same color and brand of yarn. Just before the brim (drape) of the hat it measures out at 26 inches, I don't know anyone that could wear this size and keep it on their head. Nice hat but so VERY, VERY LARGE.
The video instruction is misleading at the hdc part. She says hdc til it measures 7 inches but she means from the top of the hat, not from where the hdc starts. I learned that mistake the hard way. Oh and using cotton yarn makes it way big

Hi I know this video was made a while ago but hoping someone can tell me how many stitches you’re supposed to end up with after the row of hdc. Is it 96 or are you skipping the first one so it’s 95? Also are you skipping the first one where the marker was on every row? Thank you!!

u could, but if tiny cord you need more chains because its will be a little smaller hat.
Ich konnte auch als Deutsche super folgen. Das Video ist sehr übersichtlich gestaltet, gut zu folgen! Nur wäre gut zu sagen, welche Größe das wird, oder wie man die Größe anpassen kann... Mir ist er deshalb etwas groß geworden.
