  • Welcome to OffTheJeepEnd! In this video i found a pinhole leak in the AC line on my 98 Cherokee, instead of ripping the dash apart and replacing the Evaporator, I installed Quiksteel on the line to patch the pinhole and it worked amazing! Definitly better than a JB weld repair, I will post an update video later on of the status of the repair! Thank you for watching! DOnt forget to Like and Subscribe! STAY JEEPIN!!!

    I have the same problem in my truck the leak is inside. So I was thinking I need to take off the dash but I’m glad I saw your video!

    So did this as a temporary fix , and really just to see if I was correct about the leaking spot , it holds well, but of course there’s no real way to make a solid seal there’s always gonna be a small amount escaping . However it saves me some time and money and it works

      There brazen rods which are best for Aluminium welds its more like soldering a pipe and can get them at most hardware stores

    • @offthejeepend178
      @offthejeepend178  Před 2 lety

      Definitely would be better to use aluminum rods, my leak was so close to the firewall and on the bottom of the pipe making it really hard to get a good weld

    Dude your a life saver let me try this on my yukon.
    I had a hose leak in my passat before I have to go through hell the high pressure hose cost me 400$ similar hole like yours due to rubbing on the belt.
    I sold that vehicle I wish I have seen this video earlier.

    Yeah good thing you didn't weld it man. It could have created a block and not let the freon pass through. Good fix 👍

    Glad it worked. I assume you evacuated the air before replacing refrigerant? How is it holding now?

      Yes I do HVAC for a living and used the vaccum pump off my work van but bought new hoses just for 134A. And I did add a sealant to the 134A just in case but all good still!!

    I want to put it on a discharge line, that is leaking where the rubber is crimped to the aluminum. Does it bond to rubber?

      @@Michael-xd9sb the shit didn't work for me Held for like 5 mins I was all exited and ready To drive around in success then It busted and started leaking again, So I pulled the line off myself and took it To my local AC repair shop and he fixed the hole in my line for free since it was easy and fast he originally was going to charge me but he didn't he welded some metal on top of the hole to fix it. My line was rubbing on another line

    Cant you cut pipe and slip a coupling on it or put rubber hose with pipe clamps on it

    • @offthejeepend178
      @offthejeepend178  Před 2 lety

      It's aluminum so it's not easy to weld In the first place, let alone in the position it is in. And I think a rubber hose would leak.. too high of pressure

    For ac lines that have a hole or crack.....I wonder if you use shark bites???

    • @offthejeepend178
      @offthejeepend178  Před rokem

      No chance, sharkbites are strictly for water not to mention AC and plumbing lines are different sizes
