My grandmother had a blind and deaf great dane named Annie. Incredibly intelligent dog. In the backyard, there was a big in ground pool. This dog actually took time and counted steps to each of her favorite spots to navigate through the back yard to avoid bumping into things or falling in the pool. I miss Annie. She was very smart and so sweet.

Yes! I love my cat and could probably take care of her if she went deaf and dumb. But I’m not sure I could do it for, say, a foster. I’d for sure have to do a better job of keeping my apartment, my floors picked up!! I think it takes a special person to be able to care for special needs animals. My cat is a special needs cat but only because she’s missing her left rear leg so it doesn’t take much!
