I was gone taking care of aging parent for 9 weeks and meanwhile my son in law hit a deer so my husband sold my Camry to him and surprised me with a Lincoln Nautilus Reserve when I returned. WOW! Its really beautiful! He bought the blue one which is absolutely gorgeous! There are many things about it that I had to learn and that were not discussed in this review. Yes, the push button gears are absolutely something you need to get used to, but its not terrible at all. I cannot believe how comfy the seats are, especially the ventilated seats when you get overheated! I am very pleased with how quiet and smooth the ride is. It has a sport, regular or comfort mode for the steering wheel and for the engine which do make quite a difference in how it drives. The weird decoupling of the rear as it tries to understand what you are doing is a bit odd at first, but it gives the extra ummmfff you need to get out in traffic quickly. The park assist is amazing!!!!!!! I am still a bit in awe and afraid, but it works. It will back you in or parallel park you. Take those hands off the wheel and follow the brake and gas commands. It also will brake if something runs in front of your car. If you are in cruise it keeps you at a consistent distance from the car in front of you and will brake if it needs to and get you back up to speed for you keeping you at the set speed you have input for the cruise. In other words set it and forget it even if you come to a dead stop in cruise it just will speed you back up when the road opens up again and it will never let you get too close. Also, if you are in traffic it has a hold setting so you can take your foot off the gas when at a light or dead stop and just put it back on the pedal when you are ready to go, you don't need to put it in park. Lane centering is not perfect, but its good for the highway, it feels the lines and then keeps you centered. If there is a break in the line (such as an exit) then it pulls over to the break unfortunately. The technology is great, but not perfect. I like it though, it amazes me! The cameras give you a lot of views so you can see out the front to see if you are close enough to the curb or if you are centered in the parking space. How it shows you that you are centered is by an overhead view it compiles for the cameras and sensors. It is really great! So, it's not a sports car or the best of the best, but I really love it. I am not a big car snob for sure, but the Audi my husband looked at was way more expensive, did not have everything this had and I cannot imagine what it would cost to fix it!!!! Lincoln includes a concierge service which will come to you home, pick up the car and give you a loaner for the day all included. So, no matter how much you hate the control panel, it is a great vehicle and has a really great revel audio system to listen to as you drive comfortably down road and a wireless charger for your phone plus lots of USB and plug options for other phones. The back seats are very comfortable and heated and the rear cargo has lots of room and a hands off foot activated option to open the back. All in all, I love my new vehicle and am tired of hearing all the negativity.
I'm tired of the negative comments about this interior. It looks great to me! I actually want one of these sometime in the future. Glad you are enjoying your new Nautilus!
I own the same trim Nautilus he is reviewing i love everything about it. Interior is perfect its kept i believe because its still today very easy to use everything is placed perfectly within reach.
Great job. You Understand the buyer Lincoln is trying to attract. Someone like me. The transmission buttons are reminiscent of the 50’s and 60’s where Chrysler and Dodge had some models with push button shifter. It’s a very clean look on this vehicle. I think other manufactures are going to head this direction because they can use that space for more electronics which the younger generation likes, ala MDX. Push the button to put it in gear and if you want fun with rallying around in your car use the paddles. My paddles override the automatic transmission in my Audi.
I think the Art Deco should be taken even further. If the Continental had more classic prepositions, it would be selling better. IMO, the whole Art Deco look works for all their vehicles except for the MKC and MKZ, but those vehicles need to be redesigned from the ground up..
I was once given an MKX of this generation, as a loaner car, while my MKZ was in for service. I love the interior, and the car drove very smoothly. My only gripe was the front fascia of the MKX. I just didn't like the way it looked. Now, with this new Nautilus....that has all changed. I LOVE the new fascia of the Nautilus and MKZ (mine was the first fascia, similar to the MKX). Will definitely be looking into leasing one of these in the near future.
Drove the MKX a few years back as a rental in Orange CO, CA and was impressed at just how quiet and smooth it was... The model I had was so much fun to watch at night as literally it lite up the Long Beach neighborhood we were in with a push on the fob...I'm sure this one is even more luxurious than that one...too bad they couldn't find the dollars to redesign the interior to match the sweet sheet metal!
Looks good - the hyper-competitiveness of today's market is forcing the best out of every player - the benefits of Ford's gutsy decision to grant Lincoln independence is starting to produce stars.
What is wrong with having a dash mounted push button gear control? I like it. It gives the center console a clean uncrowded look without some post sticking up in the middle. What I don't like is the turbo 4 cylinder in such a heavy vehicle. It's definitely out of place even in base trim.
@@magneto8002 unless you're an old person heated wheel and heated seats are just another thing to break and for you to fix. Heat from the vents work just fine and your car will be warmed up in 5 min from driving.
@@nickr3441 if the heating of the seats or steering wheel breaks, then you're in the exact same position as not having it in the first place, so I dont understand how what you're saying makes any sense at all
Looks awesome from the outside but Im sure it will not hold its value for long . Just like the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator . Reliability plays a huge factor. You're correct Blake Swan. For that money it should have a richer more high end look.
Never trust a man in skinny jeans even if he's from Toronto. Really nice car tho. Beauty eh. I'll be looking for one of these as a lease return in 36 months.
Best looking SUV to date. Toyota should hire Ford designers instead of pumping out endless over-sized grills on vehicles that look like monsters, not friends.
Though it's nice,i'd agree with some of the other comments about the interior design should've been updated. That way it would be more inline with it's two big brother's.
I agree Christopher me and my wife traded a rx 350 lexus for the Lincoln we loved the lexus very nice but the infotainment system was very dated in the rx to the point where it was kinda dangerous driving 'the joystick controls'. The Lincoln interior is a little dated but it is very efficient in its layout and all the features.lexus has no where near the tech. we had a 2017 rx 350 ftype traded to a Lincoln Nautilus reserve very happy and its faster !!
As the owner and driver i have the interior around me all the time. Thats why i need a beautiful interior. I give a shit how beatiful it looks from outside. All the other LINCOLN modells look so stunning inside, why should anyone buy this plastic FORD?
The whole point of the alphanumeric names are so people focus on the brand name (BMW, Volvo, Mercedes etc.) instead of the car version. So you saying you can never remember it means it's working
Why they offer the 2.0T from the Escape and not the 2.3T from the Mustang/MKC? I have a hard time believing it costs them that much more and it has the same fuel economy pretty much. You can buy a Mustang for 1/2 the price with it! Typical Ford.
At $50 ... I think it’s a ‘steal’, when compared to its competitors (Acura, Infinity, Lexus). At $60 grand... I think that it ‘might’ be a great deal. At close to $75,ooo! No. Not for an American made mid-size SUV that will be worth $25 grand (used) in 3 years. That Lexus RX will be cheaper to buy, more reliable and will have better resale. Too bad it’s ugly - while the Lincoln is stunning to look at. Especially at $50,ooo! Thanks Mike. Great review.

Mercedes and BMW come with plastic, vinyl seats, material that is from 1968 Plymouth Valiant.

The new Lincoln’s are so nice. One small thing for me is the stupid push button gear selector on all the Lincolns. It’s just gaudy.
I just wish it was rwd base and the new Lincoln interior... So pretty much wish it was completely different.
be patient, the AVIATOR is coming, with new rear drive based platform. looks better too.
All new exterior only, the interior is carried forward from 2005.
