I went to the walk-in clinic once with strep throat, I've had it many times. I asked the doctor if I could get an injection of antibiotics instead of 10 days of pills. He said he could do that and asked if I minded needles, because it's big. I said no I use them every day. There was an awkward silence and I told him I'm type 1. He thanked me that he didn't have to ask if I was a drug user. One of my favorite doctor office moments. Good job on your A1C.
Great job Aspen Joy! You make it look so easy. I am type 2. I have had 2 mitral valve replacements & dealing with alot of different issues but you give me courage & I want to say "thank you"

Happy Diabetes Awareness month.
I lovvvvve Flower Child. They have them in Arizona where I grew up
My husband is likely going to be diagnosed with type 2 soon. So it is has been a huge life change. I couldn't imagine it with a 9 year old child.
me and aspen have literally grown up together, we're both so different! i was diagnosed when i was three, i remember the video when aspen was diagnosed!
My step-mom was a brittle diabetic and both my grandpa and my mom have diabetes (my moms also an acupuncturist) so we’re used to needles in the family. I am even a phlebotomist lol. Anyone who says they like the needles are the ones I’m worried about. Stay warm and safe you guys! Xx!
i’m sorry but what is brittle diabetes?? sorry if that personal i just want to learn more!❤
@@samanthadiva it’s absolutely fine! She would be fine one minute and then her blood sugars would plummet the next, only to rocket sky high just after. Was really hard to keep her blood sugars steady, or know when they’d start going out of whack.
Happy national diabetes month! So happy to see another video! 🤍
W
Awesome 😎
Oh my goodness, Gonzo has gotten so big!!!
November is always epilepsy awareness month as well
❤7.5 is good I’m working to get mines down but that’s great !
My blood sugars are such a roller coster right now. I can't seem to get them under control. I want to get off this ride. It was 54 last night and 350 today. The medication im on isn't helping enough.
I got mine too,! I'm on Dexcom G6 and the Inpen, I'm gonna ask T o be put on the pump
I like your red hair Aspen 🦊
I am on a g7 meter I used to be on a t1 tandem pump
Happy nation diabetes month!!! Never realized how mush Aspen Joy looked like Eli.
Finally after 13 years I got an a1c under 7. But either way 7.5 is not bad at all 👍
I was 8 when I got diagnosed
i support Aspen and the dlie tripe
Lol I pass out alot too
Hoping AJ stays healthy rn
Aspenjoy i miss your long dark hair.
I’ve had symptoms my whole life, but always test negative. Great I don’t have it but why am I constantly thirsty/ using the bathroom, and my weight yo-yoing?
Have they looked at Diabetes insipidus? Thyroid and other hormone blood panels might be useful too if you haven't had those checked.
Mom of a type 1...doctors dismissed my daughter 10 times saying she had allergies.
Then she got really sick, only then she was tested for diabetes.
It has been 3 years now...her highest A1C since taking insulin was 5.4, just once.
Her usual is 5.01.
Hope the best for all.
Wow, that is a very impressive A1C! Well done!
How do you do please share with us you experiences.
@@tihutbekele8025 , my pleasure...my daughter is on a plant-based diet, but she has always been from birth.
The things that really make difference, for her are:
3 meals a day at the exact same time, with no snacks in between.
( it is hard but totally doable. We take our meals if we leave the house).
I cook all meals from scratch, nothing fancy but very nutritious.
I use xylitol, monk fruit, and never refined white sugar.
Make sure she sleeps well and enough ( she sleeps 10 hours a day)
Exercise for 30 minutes after each meal helps the glucose to enter the cells), and it distributes insulin more steadily.
Plenty of water based on her age and weight.
She does not want a pump or a glucose reader such as Libre, so we keep an eye on her lows and highs.
She eats pretty much everything but we avoid white flour, and refined oils especially canola, grapeseed, corn, and soy.
She never had a sweet tooth but she likes cookies, pies, and muffins.
She eats good size meals with a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Hope these pieces of information help you.
In what grade is Aspen in ?
She’s in 10th grade.
are you guys going to get another pup to train as a DAD for the future? since Phoenix didn't work out?
No, at this point we are just gonna continue using technology instead. But Phoenix is a great pet and support animal :)
@@thedaletribe oh for sure lol nothing wrong with that 😄 training is alot of work
I was diagnosed with t1d in June this year
Sorry to hear that! Hope you are doing ok and getting adjusted. ❤️
@@thedaletribe thank you I am doing better
You should give Aspen a drivers lesson because that is the right age right now, because at the age of 18, She would drive
@@umaryahaya3354 I agree
It’s different with diabetes, depending on how they react to the insulin it’s dangerous to be driving while having low or high blood sugar
@@AuthenticMage I agree, no matter what
I have type 2 dieabates
2:54 I hate them to I hate needles.
I just got diagnosed with type 2 but its nothing compared to what you've had to go through. Thank you.
Type 2 diabetes is serious and valid and not your fault! Hang in there
Amber Bailik I thought type 2 was the one that got created when I as a person ate or drank to much sugar things. That's what my mom has been telling me.
@@dennishurt4056 it can be but it can also just be genetic and people can't always afford to eat healthy healthy foods are expensive
@@dennishurt4056You can not get type 2 from consuming sugar, and there are 100 ways you can get type 2 from no fault of your own, and it can be genetic. There are also many more than two types of diabetes. I happen to have MODY 5 diabetes, which is even more rare than type 1.
Happy diabetes awareness month.
Mom has a heavy foot lol
