  • Hey everybody! I bought this truck in last year after it had been sitting for quite some time!
In this video, I replace the damaged HydroVac booster with a remanufactured booster.
Sorry for the weird editing of the video and not showing me doing the work, I’m a rookie at recording but I’m working on it!

I've been fighting with one of these on a 75 F600, the shop I took it to charged me 1,300$ to fuck up the vacuum lines and do nothing else.
So the brakes would come on and stay on, until now the booster failed because they didn't actually replace it.
Thanks for the detailed look :)

your truck has an vacuum ´reservoire´? if not buy an small air tank and connect it to the system, that helps much.

What size of wheels and tires do you run on that truck?

Did you consider the upgrade kit by chance? If not, why?😊

Are you referring to hydro boost? I had considered going that route. However, with cost and extent of the modifications that would need to be done for that to work properly, I opted to keep the hydrovac in place.

What about getting ride of the hydrovac and using a regular brake booster? I've only read about one person doing that along with using the power steering setup out of a 80s Dodge pickup. The truck was a 70 Dodge d500 but that's irrelevant.

@@daltonsparks1293 That’s another option I had considered but ultimately decided against it. I still would have needed to make different brake lines and come up with a solution for proportioning the brakes. Another obstacle was finding one that would be “close enough” to modify the brake pedal assembly and accept the large brake lines.

@@koehlersmodsandrepairs4384 I see, I've got a 70 D500 and it has hydrovac brakes. They work fine now but was just curious. Thanks for the reply

Where did you end up getting the hydro vac, been having trouble finding one.

I can’t recall anymore. I had bought the last one they had though. If I remember correctly, the one I used in this video was crossed to a 1985 Chevy C60 I think.
