This comments a lil late but I think an honorable mention would definitely be the flash back to Eshonai in the chasms after Dalinar asked the Stormfather about a time he had showed mercy. The end of that scene where she tells the Stormfather that what he did was “enough” kinda hit me a little and it’s where we learn that she truly was the first singer radiant in thousands of years even if it was foreshadowed a little earlier
I think Kal vs Amaram is one of the worst scenes in the whole series.
Amaram is this really interesting grey zone of morality where he's a bad dude but has potentially good or at least complex motivations.
On top of that he represents the idea of alethi infighting and politicing and sliminess so perfectly. Better than Sadeus I think, because he isn't just super evil all of the time. And because he's also quite smart at the end of the day.
And then he turns completely to evil off screen and takes a magic pill that introduces a new element into the universe to turn into a giant CGI monster and him and the main character have a punching fight which he ultimately loses.
Not only is his potential as a character squandered, but then also any future threat that that unmade he swalled might pose is also squandered because he got bested immediately.
In my opinion, Taln's return actually gets better with rereads. I agree with you that I had no idea what was going on the first time through (i didn't even realize he was one of the heralds at first), but after reading Oathbringer, and knowing that he spent 4500 years in Damnation alone and was unbothered by the others forcing that on him, it's a really emotional punch for me the fact that his first instinct is to protect the people instead of giving up on the war when no one could blame him if he did.
The sadeas scene is crazy misplaced. Adolin is NOT a perfect hero, him killing Sadeas was both good and bad for him. It sets him up as a much more dynamic character.
This man can handle the idea of not knowing something instantly

Also Leshwi said that Riah was her friend before the wars started, not that she was joined with her and it was never implied as such.
Also Teft's death I felt was more impactful through Teft's own words, despite knowing he was gonna die he was at peace with himself and doesn't fear anymore because he knows he is loved, its really a great spit in the face of Moash.

In hindsight it's a pretty insignificant scene perhaps, but as I was reading Shallan and Dalinar creating the map together, it hit me hard for some reason. I'm a magic focused reader and before this I was like "What can bondsmiths really do?". Ofc, now we know that their abilities are by far the most powerful of all the knights radiant, and the fact that I was so impressed at the time by such a small and mundane show of power just confirms that.
I don't agree with a lot of these placements, but the top 3 were pretty damn spot on
anyone else love when kaladin killed the shardbearer and amaram betrays him, it shows us why kal is broken, how much he lost, why he vowed to never save a light eyes because of his past, not to mention how important the shardbearer he killed was.
Completely agree about Moash killing a herald, it felt rushed or out of character
Nightblood is literally Deus ex machina
Deus ex machina is when a problem is resolved by something unexpected and unlikely. Nightblood isn't either of those. We know what it's mostly capable of, and he hasn't been used to solve an unsolvable problem that I'm aware of.
@Journeyman2585 literally got rid of Odium... also, Nightblood unexpectedly appeared in Stormlight. It's from a different book.

great list, one thing i disagree is that i absolutly loved lopen's third ideal and what it represented.

I disagree with a lot of the placements mainly because we have different takes, but the reasoning you gave for all the placements make total sense to me. I just value the emotional payoff for the character development more than I value cosmere lore payoffs haha.
