Well it's still in a rough spot as any Fatal Smoke is destroying that Dimitri, also Aegis is only mitigating the first hit, any double (from brave effects, Duo Sanaki being the current best) is chunking that Hp pool, that with Fatal Smoke is not recovering
My guy survived Duo Leon for 11 damage

I was waiting for this. Everybody gives him Gambit or a dodge skill. But this Demitri has always been meant to me a true dr tank.
I personally stuck with Blue Lion Rule for that defense based relative DR, but Laguz Friend 4 is the skill which finally convinced me to not do that. That, and it reaffirmed my commitment to speed-based GLR B!Dimitri.
Yeah, Laguz Friend on him + a Defensive Special with Ike's Emblem effect is insane. I personally use GLR and Speed Smoke, as well as A/S Finish 4, but he still completely stonewalled Emblem Ike on Abyssal.
Everyone was freaking out about Duo Lyon like he wasn't gonna get countered in a few weeks

Have you tried with rinkahs new refine? She could be mitigating damage while retalianting back that same damage. Problem is, she doesn't have dc and has true dr for the first hit.

I put the skill on my Nemesis along with the engage. Don't know what special to use for him so I just threw bonfire on since I've got Def/Res Pledge for faster special charge, D Bonus Doubler, Def/Res form (S slot) and Guard Echo. Pretty fun using him now since I'm using Dark Creator Sword and no longer need to use re-armed Lif's weapon and I can only imagine what it will be like when he gets a refine, fingers crossed that it's at least decent when it comes time for him to get it. I don't want to be disappointed like I was for Death Knight's refine even though I found a way to make it work.

Tho the only downside I see, is that Dimitri really struggles to get kills
Laguz Friend still helps with that. Also, I feel for Dimitri, omnitanking is less about getting kills and more about surviving multiple nukes while shielding his teammates.
@@MrGksarathythat’s not true in AR. There you want your omnitank to kill units, otherwise you are exposing your Mythics and supports to being sniped by a danced nuke.

is it worth speed stacking for godlike reflexes with laguz friend so he can tank everything or is it just less effective and kinda pointless since most threats are ranged now
Since the true DR for both his weapon and Laguz friend rely on his defensive stat, it would in general be easier and provide more mileage to just stack on it and ignore speed

Just thought about it but while it would be a bit redundant thanks to her prf, wouldn't it be a great skill for Summer Fjorm ? I was about to say Ascended but she's armored and hers only applies on magic foes too...

For Emblem heroes it's a bad idea to fodser them since you lose them and therefore their effect. Keep at least one copy

Wait so emblem Marth gives dimitri the special acceleration, but the B skill still works even though it’s now a 2 cooldown special? That’s bonkers.
It's because it's a defensive special. Offensive specials only trigger the condition if their cooldown's 3 or higher, but there isnt a cooldown requirement for defensive ones

@@user-hj3oz1yv9h he gets 25% of def as flat dr, more than b!dimitri. all the damage reduction you run on him is from the special, which he doesnt remove. there has to be a different reason than "not as much dr" why diamant wouldnt be as good here (its likely because diamant doesnt want to run a defensive special)
Diamant has an interesting problem
It's bonfire or nothing for him.
You are not killing shit since you can't double and his damage is weirdly low without bonfire.
Also he explodes to any unit that targets res, lagus friend is probably not changing that much

Yes Laguz friend is a strong skill but gawd damn Ike himself is so bulky I could barely find anyone in my barracks who can take him out well.😭😅

Yeah, Diamant is another great choice, especially since he doesn't have access to %-based DR.
Diamant is actually a better choice for this. Hitting him twice is more of a privilege (compared to Brave Dimitri), he's got more Defense, more of his Defense is used for DR% (between both effects, Diamant gets 45% Def instead of Dimitri's 40% Def), and because he already has a Slaying effect, he can take Emblem Ike's effect instead and effectively get 70% unpierceable DR instead of merely 50%. (Assuming max investment and Gatekeeper support on both,) Brave Dimitri turns 80 damage into 11 damage. Diamant turns 120 damage into 0.
@@xSilentZeroXx The problem with Diamant is always that he can't stack his non-piercable DR with piercable DR like Brave Dimitri can, and even with Laguz Friend, Dimitri can still stack that, which in turn shaves off more damage on non-special hits that the flat DR is added onto. Not to mention, he can actually pull off a speedy build, unlike Diamant.

At least he's coming back rather soon on May alongside Kvasir and E!Marth which makes red a great value color for those who don't have any of the emblems yet. Kvasir could be better tho but I think she has some useful fodder?
@@sigzbroOphelia, Alcryst and Attuned Caeda. Ophelia is used up while Alcryst is untouched. Just used Caeda for Byleth and just merged a copy, so the likely candidate for Laguz Friend.
Plus I want to use E!Ike as a unit, hence wanting another copy

Yes, IS loves Brave Dimtri, they created Laguz Friend 4 just to revive Brave Dimitri through Emblem Ike.
The one thing that saddens me about this skill is that fliers can't use it. My N!Cherche would've loved it.
At least dragons with the NY stones + L!M!Alear's special can get so much flat dr that it's ridiculous.

No it doesn't, Aegis is a defensive special, they don't need to be 3 cooldown only offensive specials need to be 3 cooldown.

-Still took 49 dmg from Lyon without being able to counterattack
let´s be real here, enemy phase was in dire need for something as ridiculous as that, and even then, the only reason Dimitri survived the first encounter was because both Lyons didn´t attack on the same turn. I am more of a Galeforce player, but even I have to admit people deserve a fighting chance against all the crap IS has sent our way from time to time.
what is laguz friend and why is it so strong?
If you have any defensive special or a 3+ charge offensive special, it reduces your own nonspecial percent dr by half, but gives you 20% flat dr based on the higher of your def or res and 2 special charge at the start of combat.
On offensive special proc, it adds 20% of def or res as damage and has full dr piercing. With defensive specials, your next attack has that 20% def or res as damage and all your attacks ignore dr.
the new skill on the Legendary banner (emblen ike)
he's getting percent damage reduction in his special, with aegis and ike emblem effect (think armored floe/beacon dr). along with that, he has flat damage reduction in his weapon and laguz friend, for 40% of his defense stat.
flat dr stacks additively unlike percent dr, so it is extremely potent when stacked.
Everything done to the game over the past 2 - 3 years have been mistakes

This looks good but I think Emblem Ike himself uses it much better. Dimitri struggles to get kills while Ike hits back with Great Aether for 150 damage.
True, but Dimitri's survivability is comparable to if not better than Emblem Ike's in many situations, and with Hardy Bearing, he's a reliable Emblem Ike counter.

@@hpulleyiv I mean it does when both units are extremely tanky, have flat DR, and Dimitri has a defensive special. As I said, mine comfortably took a Great Aether from the Abyssal map Emblem Ike, and with Hardy Bearing, actually killing him in player phase wasn't so difficult.

Laguz friend wasn't a mistake, making it inheritable was.
Nice that tanking isn't entirely unviable. But it still sucks IS isn't just giving out a chip damage counter. Our "counter" is getting a billion true defense instead of something that makes more sense in the context of this games biggest problem. Feels more like a temporary bandaid as IS can just as easily pump-up the chip/true damage combo we've been having. So long as a counter for chip damage doesn't exist.
Melt meta is dead
This is why you should never try to become efficient in this game. No point in pulling for anything new when it becomes redundant a few weeks later.
Not completely true, but definitely valid. My best advice is to find an archetype you're comfortable with and investing mostly in that when possible.
