- In 1998, as an additional disc to the Crystal Ball set, Prince released his 21st studio album, "The Truth" - an acoustic-led set of songs. Although not one of his more known albums, it's cherished by fans and contains some incredible songwriting. Could a re-release be on the cards? We dug deep once again to bring you the facts. Enjoy!

Just imagine all the albums Prince fully realized but never released, I really wish the estate would start plucking these unreleased albums and start releasing them.

this is my favorite (and the best) Prince album of the 90s. it’s got some of his best songwriting ever. more folks should hear it!
The Truth is one of my favorite Prince albums of the Nineties. It was straight from the depths of his heart.
My favorite song would be 3rd Eye, second favorite The Other Side of the Pillow. Honorable mentions must be made to Fascination, Don't Play Me and Comeback.
To think that The Truth, N.E.W.S., ATWIAD and The Black Album could have all been created by the same man only reaffirms his incredible genius and explains why we'll always be in awe of him.
I remember Mayte in her book said she loved Prince playing acoustic guitar so had a fondness for the album.
I don't listen to a lot of acoustic music. But of course Prince can make a whole acoustic album that I love front to back
Great job and this is actually one of my favorite Prince albums of all time. He did his version of the "unplugged" series, which was enormously popular in the 90s. 3rd eye, Circle of Amour, and the title track are standouts. He never quite did another album like it, apart from the mostly piano driven One Nite alone. Listening to those 2 back to back, now that's an idea! Always great to hear you back "on the air", Casey! This was very “fascinating” lol. The part about “Dionne” was very cool & very Prince lol. And this was not all that much shorter than any other video done here so you guys are good. Thank you for doing this series cause it makes those albums that much more exciting to listen to. Truly great stuff! Peace! 💜

I really enjoy this record and it's a very inspiring release. I listened to it for week straight and it inspired me to get back into writing lyrics, something I haven't done in a long time.
The NPG album 'Newpower Soul' had the song '"Until U're in My Arms Again" which is also apparently about Prince and Mayte's son.
I would definitely buy a vinyl reissue of The Truth! My favorite track in it is “One of Your Tears”
"Dionne" is my favorite track, followed by "Welcome 2 the Dawn" and "Comeback".
My favorite track on The Truth is and always has been Animal Kingdom. I like the way Prince uses the dolphin sounds and incorporates into the synthesizers. Although I am not vegetarian or vegan, I still love the music and it's message. For me it emphasizes to respect all living things. I remember playing Animal Kingdom for my boyfriend at that time and he was totally blown away by the song. He finally realized the musical depth of the endless talent of Prince. #HisnameisPrince. 💜

I've always loved this album and I was able to get the cd years ago when it was "available ". Comeback has always been an emotional song for me and even deeper now knowing the story behind it. My favorite track from this album is
Circle Of Amour. This is a very deep in the fall back to school as you watch the brownish orange leaves falling off the trees witchy girlfriends within the tightest circle with French benefits type of song. I absolutely love it.

Though Prince probably wouldn't have approved, one of the good things about his songs being available online is that the more obscure albums and songs are much more widely available and can find a new audience.
This album could've smashed the charts if released and marketed properly.

I love this album so much. Music has the ability to be a time machine. This takes me back to 1998. I like all the tracks are pretty great. Except Animal Kingdom. Mostly cuz I like fried clams. :D

good vid. Not strictly true about the ONA tour, if memory serves me correct he did play Don't Play Me at the Frankfurt ONA soundcheck, so it was definitely on the band's repertoire and rehearsed, who knows why the hell he didn't play it at the actual show though - would've been epic!

WOOOOW. I always wondered who “Comeback” was dedicated to. It’s so sad to know it was for Amir. I wonder if Mayte knows about this. Also, Prince was dating Mayte (before their 1996 marriage)……AND Nona Gaye….WHILE trying to hit on Dionne Farris!!? What the hell!!?👀
Speaking of the aforementioned Ms. Farris, my favorite tracks are: “Dionne”….”Circle of Amore” (a very dirty song about a lesbian orgy)….and “Animal Kingdom”.
My thought is as Prince became a JW his spirituality strengthened, this in result would lead to him not using foul language and on this album there is a little bit of foul language used. Maybe Prince stopped the release so not to go back to using foul language, or even better he may have re-written the lyrics to fit in with his newly found religion and maybe by some stroke of luck we might hear them one day. But who knows with Prince 💜🎶
'Dont play me'. I remember the 'full' version of 'Welcome 2 The Dawn' on the 1800-NEW-FUNK tel line, I can actually hear it but such a shame there is NOTHING online. Also, do you think 'The Dawn' album is a version of ultimate ' The Truth' album?

I agree with Mr. Matthew Arwood ,
Release one full album at a time and then let it like beef stew simmer a year or 2 for the public to digest and understand and embrace. After all Mr. Nelson has written and recorded enough material to bring us surprise and joy for the next 100 years.
But its ,like a money grabbing factory keeps churning out all at once, Prince's material , it will be after a while over kill and get tired of it. Me, i never get tired and most fans either but avoid over exposure all at once.
But, there are some avarice ass who wants that money like yesterday to spend you know whomever is suppose to be looking after Prince's estate?
Prince worked hard and ruined his body from heels, those jumps on hardwood stage for years not to mentionedthose iconic Mr. James Brown like splits and some people in charge just spending his assets like water under a dry bridge.
Need to cease and resist all these release at once. Marinade each demo video album unreleased before and release judiciously?
There, had my 2 cent say today and I enjoy all these videos Prince so far and yes I hit the like button too.

The true facts are he was very badly and wrongly manipulated in that period by outsiders he let in his life. No persons and or religion should go as far as it did to break up a marriage. For their own personal gains and that's what happened!
