They had 3 world class singers. Easy to Be Hard is another great one
They need to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Biggest band of the early 70's
AB-SO-FREAKIN-LUTELY.....!!!!
No Auto-Tune. Just straight playing and singing
Absolutely right!
Three Dog Night is a great rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. You've done a few of their songs already. Some of their hits are "Just An Old fashioned Love Song", "Eli's Coming", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.
Love those. Add “One.”
@@tonydelapa1911 I think he did that song already.
I heard it first from Otis. Three Dog Night had some amazing passion, Easy To Be Hard, Nelle Carter sang that in the movie version of Hair.
🔥🔥🔥 FIRE! Cory Wells was a great singer. This is one of the greatest performances I've seen and im listening to music over 60 yrs. Elis Coming.and Never been to Spain are very good. Oh also Easy to be Hard were the great Chuck Negron takes lead.
I love, love Cory Wells. I think you might enjoy
" Out in The Country " which is a sing about nature feeding your soul. Cory was a big outdoorsman...loved to fish.
Need to do “Liar” next! 🎤🎸🔥 RIP to Mr. Cory Wells ♥️
We lost their great drummer Floyd Snead this year. Bassist Joe Schermie and keyboardist Jimmy Greenspoon are gone too. They were all great musicians.
@@davidburton9136 these guys were my very first concert in 1973 ♥️ I will never forget it!! I have several of their albums but my favorite is “Around The World with Three Dog Night” They were an amazing live band!
@@vickieray My first concert too in 1970. What a great night that was for me!
If you haven’t already check out their song Eli’s Coming live 1975.
The first time I heard 3 Dog Night sing their first hit 'One', I knew they were headed to the top. Great voices, great harmonies, plus their covers of songs to me, are better than the originals.
The late, great Cory Well (vocals)!
Corey RIP what a voice what harmony from the group
Cory Wells had that soulful sound on the TDN. The 3 lead singers had great harmonies. Plenty of hits back in the day. RIP Cory. 👀👀
They also did a cover of " Change gonna come" by the late, great Sam Cooke. Great rendition!
“Out in the Country” is the vibe! ✌️❤️
Eli's Coming, Mama Told Me Not To Come are both great Three Dog Night records.
What did I tell ya? Freaking awesome cover ✌️
I was in Vietnam 69/70 Phu Cat ...listened to their 69 great album at least 300 times. Cory's voice is other worldly. He had more soul than he could CON TROL...grin...These guys helped me and others get through our year in Nam...God Bless Cory & the other incredible talent in the TDN.
Love this Band!
Great choice!
TDN great band great live band always loved their guitar player he always has such great joy and a big smile on his face
Love this song!
I STILL, own some old 8-track tapes of Three Dog Night.
Great band, my Man!
The 60's and 70's pop and rock was the greatest, ever!
(Some of the 80's wasn't too bad as well)
songs in the 60's had meaning, feeling, and they made you feel good about the band.
No one could sing this like Otis Redding but this is pretty darn good ❤
Would be cool to hear your take on the Otis Redding version.
This must be a very early 3 Dog Night performance. The lead singer, Cory Wells in this case, looks so young here. It seems kind of strange having him handle 100% of the vocals; vocal harmonies are a 3 Dog Night staple..
Yes to Otis Redding version please. “One”, “Joy to the World”, or “Never Been to Spain” are good starters for Three Dog Night.
Three Dog Night had some great tunes! "Just an Old Fashioned Love Song", "Joy to the World", "Mama Told me not to Come", "Out in the Country", "One" and so many more...
Hey, Biz These guys had blue eyed soul!
CORY WELLS IS EVERYTHING!
❤Cory. RIP🌹
Wow, a young Cory. Not sure I've heard this cover. Love this band. Never Been To Spain, One, Joy To The World. Deep rabbit hole.
It's definitely best to watch these guys live good choice Biz...
Otis Redding's version is my favorite.
Try the song Never been to Spain or Joy to the world. I think you will like it.
This song goes back to 1932. Bing Crosby recorded it in early 1933. Frank Sinatra had it on an album in 1946. Otis Redding version has been the most popular. I thought Three Dog Night's version is a little too much like Otis Redding's version.
This is my favorite Cory Wells Three Dog Night song. Thank you.
Try"Eli's coming" it's a favorite of mine from these guys.
If you're interested in continuing to discover more country music, then I'd suggest checking out "Marty Stewart - This One's Going To Hurt You (For A Long, Long Time) ft. Travis Tritt" Marty Stewart is an American country and bluegrass music singer, songwriter, and musician. Active since 1968, Stewart initially toured with Lester Flatt, and then with Johnny Cash's Road band before beginning work as a solo artist in the early 1980's. Stewart has recorded over 20 studio albums and has charted over 30 times on the Billboard Hot Country songs chart, and he has also won 5 grammy awards. Travis Tritt (the singer with the beard) Travis Tritt signed with Warner Brothers Records in 1989. He has released 12 studio albums and his songs charted more than 40 times on the Hot Country Songs chart. He also received grammy awards in 1991 and 1998.
Introduced to Three Dog Night with this song at a live concert in 1969
Who else could do such an amazing cover of this iconic Otis song?
Haven't heard this in decades. And the vocals are even better than what I remembered, just absolutely amazing all the way around. But now that I've been around the block for so many years as a musician and playing and fans and recording and stuff like that with people. This song has a lot of really fun things going on with its structure but it's really subtle. But they're all just getting off on it you can tell. They do a pretty good job at the old trick of trying to imply that the beat is changed from the downbeat to the offbeat or vice versa. And that Chris this wonderful tension for a bit as your brain kind of hears it felt ways, and then boom when there ready to go back to the basic original and it has so much impact.
Three Dog Night. In the Outback of Australia, sleeping around a fire, The colder it got the more dogs you cuddled up to. A Three Dog Night means that it is a very cold night. It comes from Aboriginal Australia.
Love these guys thanks Biz.
Oh yeah Biz you should definitely listen to the Otis Redding track!
Think it's a great idea to react to Otis! Another great rendition of "Try a Little Tenderness" was done by a group of Irish musicians in the movie The Commitments. The lead singer was 16 years old at the time.
He took us to church!
Cory Wells, that is.
Also " Brickyard Blues" from the 1975 TV special....
I saw them in the early 70s The band had 21 Billboard Top 40 hits between 1969 and 1975, with three hitting number one. Augusta Ga
Otis rules with his very popular song 💥& Cory Wells was fantastic with his cover, the entire band showed respect to Otis. I have seen a later live performance of Three Dog Night in a smaller venue where the crowd went crazy over Cory Wells performance of Try A Little Tenderness, who was dressed in a dark suit & the video was low lights, you could make out the band but the fans were in the dark during this performance. I think it was probably 5 - 10 yrs after this live performance. Sorry I don’t know the year but it is really worthwhile finding it, if I track it down I’ll let you know, because this performance will totally amaze you & is my fav Cory Wells performance. TDN had many very big hits 🥰🔥☮️💥
This is Corey singing!!
The great Cory Wells. Check out I will serenade you. Another example of Cory's vocal talent.
You have to hear Otis Redding’s Hey Jude cover. He was a legend!
Ah dude, there's another actual live version of them doing this. This is a video with the studio version dubbed in. You've gotta look it up, you'll be glad you did. Yeah. Peace
Hi from NY. ✌I saw Three Dog Night at the Schaeffer Music Festival in Central Park in 1975. I still love this music! Love your reactions. Hope you do more TDN.
This is cory
Wells here.chuck nergron danny hutton other lead singers.mike allsup guitar.jimmy greenspoon keyboard.floy sneed drums.jimmy schermie bass. Great band.they were the top band in the early 70s.more no, 1 hits than any group
Three Dog Night released it on 45rpm.
this was first recorded in the1930's and also in the 30's by Bing Crosby and later by Frank Sinatra - but you're right also
Three Dog Night did a wonderful cover of this song; very good. But this is Otis Redding's song. It's hard to cover, Otis, Aretha Franklin,
James Brown, Ray Charles, and Righteous Brothers, because they set the bar so high. Eli's Comming and Easy to Be Hard are great.
Three Dog Night songs.
I grew up a teen in the 1970’s, Three Dog Night is fantastic! 🔥
This is a great cover, but, go and check Otis - you want the live performance at Monterey pop - In fact check out any film you can find from the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. The Jimi Hendrix set is as good as the Otis Redding set. The festival also included the first US performance by The Who but I don't remember seeing film of the Who set.
You should really go to the 1975 TV special...
They were at their peak....and you won't get all that funky camera work either!
Under rated
Those guys aren't just having fun with it- they feeling it!
Otis Reddings version- it's his song and it's fantastic, but it is too short.
Please review Otis’ version, too! I always thought he wrote the song, but I just looked it up and his was a cover also. Thanks for this great reaction. Luv 3 Dog Night!
If you want to see fun, Soundstage 1975! I don't know what Danny was smokin!🔥
Check out the Otis version from Monterey Pop.
I liked Otis's voice better than the lead singers, but you gotta admit that these boys put a lot of zing and soul in this version.
Yeah this is the oldest cover showing the three dog night can get a little soul in them too! Peace!
1932 Ray Noble.
☮️💜🎶
Eli s Coming, and How Long Must the Show Go On.
Try A Little Tenderness was first recorded in the 1930s. Frank Sinatra did a version in the 1950s. But in my opinion Otis Redding did the definitive version and his live performance of it at the Monterey Pop Festival 1967 is the ultimate. Three Dog Night did a fine version but added nothing to Otis'
This song is 91 years old.
I had no idea. Thanks for the info
He got so strung out on smack later on down the road almost cost him his life Augusta Ga
No, no, no. Watch Live: (Three dog night - Try a little tenderness - Live 1972) Also from same concert (Jam Live 1972) Oh, and (Eli - Live 1975)
That's some classic white soul right there!
You got to do Otis.
Man, you have got to listen to Otis' version! Don't wait
Cory got heat for doing it jus like Otis.
I recommend The Very Best of Otis Redding..
RESPECT THE ARTIST SAY HIS FULL NAME OTIS REDDING !
❤😮❤
Otis it is! Three Dog Night Did nothing but covers. Try "Feelin' alright" (not feeling too good myself)!
Yes, on Otis, but it's absolutely not correct that Three Dog Night did nothing but covers. Their catalog includes many originals.
@lindazee I am curious: What songs did they write? I saw 3 the internet says Chuck Negron gave us: "One", "Joy to the World " and "Moma told me not to come". But pulling up the words and music and "one"-Harry Nielson, "joy"--Hoyt Axton and "Moma " by Randy Newman.
I am quite willing to be wrong here. It educates me. I certainly don't care if a band never writes anything. 3 Dog Night were amazing performers! They owned their version. You know, Frank Sinatra never wrote anything...still great. Also Nat King Cole! And Barbara Streisand. Gack! I am old!
@daviddragavon7555 Your own words verified what I said, but just to clarify:
You stated that they did nothing but covers, and that's simply not correct, as they recorded songs unique to them.
By "original," I meant that they were not cover songs, regardless of who wrote the songs.
On everything else, I think we agree that great musical artists need not necessarily be songwriters and that Three Dog Night were an excellent group, notably, in my opinion, their vocals and harmonies.
@lindazee I was wondering if we had a communication problem, what's a cover, what's not. I see what you are saying.
I think Frank Sinatra was possibly the 1st to record this song.🎙
Next should be Liar........
.. if only to year where the BeeGees stole the guitar riff from for Stayin' Alive.
Otis Redding ..
this was very good, but i think i prefer the otis redding's version
Nice job with this cover, but I'm still partial to Otis . 💔
Otis is much better IMHO.
Rip cory, rip floyd !!
