On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

Can't wait to see you master rudder skids with the gun. It allows you to get on target without having to roll wings or be higher altitude. Think of spraying with a powerful garden hose from ground level to ground level, getting all the kiddies in a crowd wet, standing on the sidewalk while you are slightly higher, say on your deck/elevated platform, very useful against convoys perpendicular to your flight path.
Cluster munitions are a better bet I should think
The air to ground content is cool! Can you maybe upload all the missions/scenario’s you fly so we can fly them as well?
I live next to an A-10 base. They are so quiet at altitude, when they go down hill on you, you won't hear the gun... let alone the jet. "St. Peter? Whoa. What killed me?" St. Peter : "Growling Sidewinder went a little long with his A-10 gun run, seeing you on the highway, for some reason. (checks notes) You were driving a 2005 Toyota Hi-Lux? (inhales sharply) Bad idea... he thought you were a technical. You should not have been hauling 12 foot 2x4's angled up in the bed over the roof... they looked like a heavy machine gun mount and weapon system." Hi-Lux driver : "So do I get into heaven?" St. Peter : "Oh. That would be a no. Your browser history... dude. Duuuuude." 😜

A-10 is such a fun aircraft. you have gotten so much better since the first CAS video few days back. @7:46, in A-10 variant of the sensor it is not the heat source. Rocket engines emit a specific spectrum of UV light. you have these little cameras on each side of the nose, wing tips and the tail that pick this UV emission up. (bottom of the jet is a blind spot just like Radar Receivers). you can learn more by looking up "AN/AAR-47 Missile Approach Warning System"

The “Warheads on forehead” mission lately have been great, the one thing I would ask for is a view from the ground looking at you! Bud you’re missing out on some ridiculous cinematic awesomeness. You’ve got the eye for the cinematic.

This is exactly what I was gonna comment. Everyone loves a lil brrt from ground level.
Always awesome to see the A-10 kill things. I think you should also try to mix it up with the missions and not always just shoot at static targets just sitting there. Maybe have a few enemy groups on the move. Some might be trying to just run away, or trying to flank friendly forces. Of course you might need a little more practice first, before you can effectively hit moving targets.
I would like to see more external shots of 2000lbs and gun runs
I find it insanely hard to find moving targets in the A-10C unless you already know where to look ;)

You're using the A/G gun pipper for aerial attacks. Make the HUD your SOI (Coolie hat up short). Push the Master Mode button (long press) to put the Hog into Air To Air mode, and then DMS left or right to bring up the gun funnel. Subsequent presses of DMS left or right will adjust the funnel width for the wing span or rotor width of what you are trying to attack, the left side of the HUD will show the aircraft that the funnel is set for.

6:00 is a SCUD Depot. Think of them as basically WWII German V2's. Similar range and trajectory. They take the launchers back to this site to get re-armed after their launch from dispersal sites, like they did in Holland and other locations in 1944-45, hiding in cities, along tree-lined streets. Shoot and then scoot back to the Depot.

Most areas in the south have two waffle house's. I was traveling through Georgia and accidently went too far one way, on a midnight run getting a new collector car out of Florida. It was wild and they ladies there were like, "Honey, you might like the waffle house just a little way down the street... that way." Me : "I'm hungry and you guys seem like more fun!" The waitress smiled and said, "You too darling, now what you havin'?" Me : "French toast special, I've been on the road all day!" 😃

Love the A-10, i worked on it from 1979 to 1983! What a great plane! This is the the only plane i fly as of now in DCS!
A CBU would have been great for the Artillery position. I don't know of anyone else would be interested, but I think another cool DCS mission they should make is a wildland fire air support operation. Still air to ground, but a little different.
I really like this content. It shows how difficult it is to provide CAS. A whole other skillset to be sure.

Hey GS, an idea for a new combat format: instead of doing bandit unknown, do a loadout unknown. You and the bandit each have a total of 4 fox3s and 6 fox2s for 5 rounds. Neither of you knows, what the other guy brings to battle. Should be a lot of fun.
I'm enjoying the A-10 content a lot, you're inspiring me to take the plunge and try to learn it next myself (currently trying to get worked up on the Hornet, transitioning from my beloved F-5).
F5 is definitely a great aircraft, good stepping stone for the Hornet. Have fun!
@@MrCrazyScotsman Thank you! The Tiger was the first module I bought and trained with, and I still love it. Looking forward to learning the Hornet as well, it feels very comfortable to me to fly, kind of like the F-5's big brother (not too surprising I guess, given both planes' origins). I think the A-10 may be next on my wishlist, though I expect it will be a while yet :)
@@masterskilhollow Be warned, A-10C is probably the most complicated airframe in DCS.. That being said it's extremely rewarding once you start getting decent with it ;) I highly recommend!
@@masterskilhollow same! Tiger is just a really cool little aircraft. I am currently trying to learn the JF17, and it is a bit of a bitch. If you liked the F5 and the Hornet I would also recommend the Mirage 2000. It is a beastly fast aircraft that really can out-dogfight most aircraft. A-10 is next for me too

I was a career A-10 weapons specialist. We never loaded AGM-65s on the inboard rails. Only the bottom and outboard sides. I believe the wing "kneecaps" were being damaged and this policy was implemented back in the 90's.
The 30mm is great but against armor you’re better off using your mavericks. The idea with the increased SA of the C model is to stand off and fly higher altitudes. It allows you to cover a wider area and you don’t expose yourself to as much fire.
The 30mm was obsolete when it was in development it's kinda sad that it's basically useless and even dangerous in most operations.
Love the A-10 and air to ground! Hoping for more CBU action on stuff like the Katushas. Eating Hinds with the 30 mill is a total blast too! Rock on!

Ironically army personel who have witnessed A10 missions hate the A10. Because it's not very good at CAS.
The Pentagon did a study on tank gun kills in the Gulf from the A10. They found the gun could not kill most modern tanks. Any kills by the gun were usually a 1960's and before tank and it was from the side or top of the tank. Most tank kills by the A10 were from the Maverick. But it is still a sight to see when that gun goes off.
While yes, the A 10 cannot penetrate the T 72 front armor if it gets a hit on the upper armor or the rear armor (maybe even side armor) that tank is dead. The T 72 autoloader would probably ignite
Yep the 30mm gun was outdated when the jet was designed so by the time it actually got put into service is was really outdated. Much better CAS jets out there.

I had no idea the Warthog was so capable. I especially like the Apache-like targeting system. Much more effective in a faster, more robust platform. These videos have been a real treat. Thank you so much for taking the time to learn and fight this legendary platform.

These a 10 videos are great, and you need more gratuitous, slow motion, external shots of the 30mil in action.
I grew up in the 80's just outside of New Orleans when our NASJRB had the A-10, A-7 to F/A-18, F-4 then upgraded to F-15. But I absolutely loved watching the squadron of A-10's return from training. My street was about 2 miles from the predominant runway and the view of them was spectacular!
Thankyou so much for the A-10 videos. Great plane, amazing engineering, and still indispensable on today battlefield. I enjoy watching people appreciate a plane that does get looked over all too much.
I absolutely love and enjoy your A-10 content. Please continue to make more. It makes me wanna get on DCS and get A A-10 right away I do have the thrustmaster worthog controls. I wish I could figure out how to program everything on all these jets I need someone to help me.
A-10 is the greatest thing in DCS...love it to death...been flying a lot of F-18 for the versatility, lately, but the A-10 is by far my most favorite...
Next step for DCS would be for ground units to call out targets for you

The fans love it, the Airforce is bored with it, the Army relies on it and the critics denigrate it.
Yet somehow it's a one of a kind and the Senate won't let go of it.
I suspect we won't really know until it's retired or replaced.
All I know is that I'll happily watch GS flying it for hours.

That command post with the entrenched tanks and scud sitting around.... THAT is what the CBU-105's are for. Set a SPI, set weapons, and hold pickle when in the range bracket. Lots of little self-seeking, armor-piercing bomblets to clear the place out. Dump two on the same pass and watch the hellish fun.

I saw that you *already* enabled 60Hz recording again but, while I really am *extremely* grateful, I honestly didn't mean for you to feel like you have to do so right away, nor that you need to do so for *all* of your content. Especially not the complex A2G
I just wanted you to explore the feasibility of going back up to 60fps (or, at a minimum, any integer divisor of 120Hz, such as 30fps), for those types of missions in which it is relatively easy to achieve such performance in DCS on your hardware; specifically, high-altitude A2A sorties, like the BVR (and perhaps, if workable, even some lower-altitude missile evasion / mountain-surfing over the least demanding, sparsely populated areas of the Caucuses) scenarios that you fly.
Finally, please don't feel restricted to higher frame rate gameplay and/or higher refresh rate recording, just on my account. You obviously have a *much* bigger audience now than back when you first started producing 2160p60 content.
If there are some situations in which you prefer lower frame rate gameplay, or for which you have a specific creative vision, then by all means go for it!
I think doing this in a f-16 or f-15 would be pretty fun to see as well.
When troops in contact see and F-16 or F-15 roll in on the opposition for a gun run. "Oh frick! Get your heads down!" When they see an A-10 do the same, "Get out your phones, unmask and film! This is going to be classic BRRRRRRRRRRRRT!"
I second this but I want to see him recreate the mission over Iraq where an F15C landed an air to air kill against an Mi-24 that had just taken off, in support of a special forces team on the ground that was getting chased/encircled by IRG forces. That kill, he landed, was done using a 2000lb Paveway laser guided bomb, and not a missile, because the jet was traveling at full afterburners at something like Mach 1.6 on the deck, and so the bomb actually had more range than the missiles he was carrying, I'd assume sidewinders for defensive purposes since AIM120s would out-range a 2000lb bomb at that altitude no problem.
You passed over the Highway i was 1 klick west of back in 90', 91'. Never forget that all the way to 1.

Love the A-10 and love the vids. Years ago I lived in a rural area and I heard aircraft engines,I looked and off in the distance I saw 2 A-10's doing the Warthog stomp. I didn't know what they were doing but it was cool as hell. I enlisted in the Air Force after High School and found out that what they were doing was the Warthog Stomp! I just fell in love with it. It is one hell of a ground pounder . In the Air Force she's affectionately referred to as double ugly but I think she is one beautiful aircraft! Keep these vids coming!!!!

Those Grad launchers were perfect targets for the cannon. I would've popped the T-72s with Mavericks. Much more efficient than ringing their bells with gun runs.

Very accurate title! The A-10 Thunderbolt was basically designed around its primary, tank-killing weapon, the GAU-8/A Avenger Gatling gun. Some might say it’s a “Flying Gun”.
not a Tank killing weapon the gun could barely pen a T-64 it isn't a tank killer. It can take out light and no armor things just fine though. For modern tanks the A-10 needs weapon systems like the Maverick or 2000 lb bombs
Personally what I do with the A-10C II is I use DMS right long with HMCS soi to slave the TGP to where the HMCS is looking, then just create a SPI when I'm done slewing the TGP.. that way It reduces the amount of buttons I have to press at once. Also, T-90's, T-72's, etc are all very resistant to the A-10's 30mm and you'd have to be very close for it to make any real impact on it. i just hit them with GBU-12's, laser guided rockets, or mavericks. LOL They can withstand like 3 laser-guided rockets...

If you get the A-10’s circling each other, the F-22 has no choice but to attack one A-10 while the other A-10 defends his wingman.
@@GunganWorks I don’t think you realize how slow the A-10 is lol. Even when I’m assuming you are thinking guns only.
The f-22 could simply climb away anytime trouble arises and essentially make modified strafing runs. The A-10 isn’t made for dogfighting, trying to fight arguably the most dominate fighter isn’t going to end well.

Exactly, I don't get it. There is much better CAS jets out there. I guess because the under powered gun makes a cool brrrt noise so people ignore the fact the it isn't a very good jet.
