Hyperadobe is a type of earthbag technique that uses netted bags instead of superadobe Cal-Earth style bags. This multi-purpose building is a solar shed, office, and guest room using numerous natural building techniques like passive solar, earthen walls, earthen floor, bas relief, and more.

Such a gorgeous book - each shed is unique and inspiring, and I love all the tiny details Kotite features to help readers imagine how to create their own She Sheds czcams.com/users/postUgkxe9yi0sulKgsp0VJJCIrLWWkvVqcU7LFR . The feature on Dinah's Rustic Retreat is like something from a fairy tale. It's really inspiring to see how creative all these ordinary people are in making beautiful and useful spaces on a modest scale.
2 hours 7 minuets 35 seconds I watched the whole Video .I figured you went to a lot of work to produce , shoot ,edit , and post . At least I could do is watch the whole thing .And I am so glad I did it was fantastic . CONGRATULATIONS, on both the build and video JOB WELL DONE !
Same here. Quite entertaining. Awesome family

@@richarde735 The family work ethic is unbelievable, congratulations and happy new year
I also felt the same way and watched to the end awesome job
This mom rocks. I see me in her. Her family is so blessed to have her. Truly strength to her family
Happy to see a family doing something so unique together. Memories forever!
I like this family... A family that works together, stays together. In this day and age, its amazing to see kids show so much enthusiasm joining their parents in a project like this.
And lots of smiles. The core of life is the family. Blessings to them all!
ya and its also a very beutifull home and to me it has a flinstones style
we were like that we all worked together on our farm and did so very well , till us kids grew up and once we both finished collage & traveled abroad for work our parents split n dad moved to Cambodia so that saying is a load of bullshit. our parents said they only stayed together for the kids. they'd wanted to split ten year's before they did, ... sorry to burst your bubble,. Nice idea mind, but in honesty who doesn't want there kids to grow and go concur the world .
I loved that your children were part of this build. Statistically, parents spend less than 1 hour per day with school-age kids. These will be healthy & positive memories they will carry with them forever. Your kids will be stronger souls for all the engagement you've shared.
dont care
Child labor also exists in USA 🤣
Absolutely.

I watched the whole thing and loved it! What a wonderful family, great parents, and children who are going to have stories to tell and be proud of and inspired by what they learned for the rest of their lives. Also love the animals, especially the comedy relief of the dog and what he “says”! And a big reason I kept watching while I worked in the kitchen was the great music!!! And props that you credited the artists, too! Just an amazing job and family all the way around!
Hey thanks so much for the kind words - you made our morning :)
@@TinyShinyHome 😊😊😊
I'm so blown away. What a beautiful place! Ya'll did amazing. So this is what a family can achieve working together ❤
When in 2006 I created this Hyperadobe technique, here at my Permaculture Institute, in Brazil where I live, I didn't know that in a few years it would become a world fever.
Your work is very good, in addition to the good mood of the whole family that teaches us all the true meaning of sharing and working together.
Congratulations, you guys are great!
Thank you sir, and thanks so much for creating this technique! We have so many plans for ways to use these bags here on our homestead, and are just getting started!
Sr. Contanto, yes, thank you for creating this technique with your compadres at your Brazilian Permacultue Institute. You've opened the door and paved the way for so many people and families who may have not have been able to go about building a 'traditional' homestead, or like myself (and, I believe this family, Tiny Shiny Home) who do not want a traditional, resource havocing homestead and would rather go an Earth friendly route. This enables so many people to feel empowered, accomplished, secure with a sense of pride in themselves and their home all while helping our finite planet (the last of which people seem to take for granted far too often, forgetting that we - as a human race - nor our home, that is Earth, are not indestructible or infinite.)
I've been wanting to, for a few years now, go forward with seriously preparing and starting to build my own earthship domain. I've watched other videos on CZcams of people and families who document their builds but nothing near as detailed or as structurally sound as what this family has shared with us. I can only offer you, Tiny Shiny Home, my sincerest thanks as you have answered the few remaining, albeit very important, questions I've had left before I could embark on my own future home. Of which I plan on having and residing in for many years to come, so was wanting to do it very good and just right, much like yours.
My heart broke when that desert wind storm put you back a few days but the fact that you kept on keeping on with smiles on your faces only attest to the beautiful spirit your family has. I too live in a dry, wind storm prone, desert climate, of which, unfortunately, has far too much sand in its dirt as well, with almost zero clay. Not sure it is even dirt at all. It may very well be all sand. So, I was curious about one thing. When you were testing the structural capabilities, hence longevity, of your cob mixture and after noticing you needed more clay, you mentioned that you found a great solution, followed by arriving with a truck bed of clay laidened dirt, what was your solution? Where were you able to find that dirt that satisfied your clay needs? Just curious.
Great job BTW, loved seeing the whole family, including the pup and even Pops, helping and making it a team build. So many wonderful lessons you are able to instill in your lovely kids that they'll have for the rest of their lives. Kudos all the way around. Many blessing.
ikr, when I said I wanted to do my stables in cob 20 something yrs. ago everyone and there aunt said that's silly, there all asking for advice on there little builds lately. funny how opinions chance once they see them put into reality. do you have a website or do you upload, I'm always interested in seeing what cool new techniques ppl come up with in different countries. i'll go have a look at your CZcams feed to see if there's info there..
Indigenous cultures made homes from dirt and natural materials thousands of years ago. Nice try. Hey next time invent a way to stop flowing water by using rocks!!
@@greenwave819 While it's true many cultures in the past have built structures with materials that have included a mixture of clay rich dirt and a binding agent, such as straw/hay, the technique in which they built their homes were completely different. In more primitive times, cultures would mix their dirt, hay and water (or similar combination) then, as the technique shown is this CZcams video was actually not in existence as it hasn't been created yet, they would place that mixture into molds, often brick shape or close to that size and a shape but maybe more sides, such as a hexagon, and they would have to wait days for the dirt mixture to completely dry. They would have to repeat this process many times,. Hence in order to even begin the build it would take weeks and even months before they had enough of these 'bricks' formed so that by the time the build was finished they had all the necessary bricks created to finish it. This process was incredibly long, much more labor intensive and the structures created paled in comparison, in regards to time taken to prep, start and complete the build, structural stability and support and the longevity of the structure, than that of home built with the same materials yet using the cob technique shown in this video. The cob technique is one that is able to be constructed immediately, no molding of, or days drying, 'bricks' needed. It is called a 'wet build' for that specific reason. Also, because it is not built brick by brick, piece by piece, but instead as one whole, single, solid build it is akin to a monolithic structure making it much more stable and will outlast an adobe style (with a dried dirt mixture molded into bricks) structures many times over. Nobody claimed they created or came up with the idea to use clay dirt, hay and water to build a structure. Sr. Contato created this technique... that being the wet build technique, hence a monolithic technique. Which also, as a bonus, because one molds the structure as s/he builds, one gets the added option of being able to build smoother, rounded walls/surfaces. This happens to be, to some, much more aesthetically pleasing and, some might say, much more modern. Therefore giving the end result being likened and modeled much closer to styles used today's modern home construct. #TheMoreYouKnow
What a great family! I loved it! I’m a contractor and I’ve been doing residential construction and remodeling for 24 years and I was AMAZED at how great of a job they did. They worked together perfectly and no matter the task they pushed forward. They all worked extremely hard on this but I was immensely impressed by the wife and her work ethic. The husbands attitude was exactly what was needed for a project like this (some guys tend to take over and are too aggressive). I was impressed by the children and how invested they were through the whole project!
Well done guys! You’re an inspiration to many and your hard work was amazing to watch 😁
I agree, the wife's work ethic was very impressive!! What is great is how the whole family worked as a team. The dog is a definite plus with its cuteness and playfulness.
But….there is no sanitary!?
Mom is a true PERFECTIONIST on this build! Wonderful job mom. Mom is such an artist in everything she does. I Love the beauty she put into everything! Just beyond words!💕💕
This entire family is so impressive. Even with doubtful outcomes with the weather, they shined through and made a project happen. Incredible amount of work done with humility and kindness. Beautiful.
And so much joy!
Beautiful!
It's unreal how many people get offended when I suggest using dirt as a building material... It requires significantly less lumber, it is more thermally stable, more resistant to earthquakes and extreme weather events and I think it looks better.
One thing that impressed me was while you built this you worked a daily job, kids did schooling and the house work, chores and meals all still got done. Great Job!!!
Absolutly amazing and inspiring!!!
I didn't know All that! Wow!!
Basically this is like sculpting an entire building by hand, with a whole platoon as a sculptor. Wow.
First: you and hubs are an amazing team, full of excellent ideas. Second: your kids have really shown a positive attitude. I'm impressed with you all. Wish we were neighbors.
When people are married to each other a trip to Lowes is a date. What a great family you have.
As a retired professional builder, I’ve got to say, I’M IMPRESSED!
Congratulations on a job well done!!
The idea of putting the bobble shapes on the sunniest wall is absolute genius! Amazing job
Imagine in 5 years from now you were courting one of the children. The work ethic, artistry, determination, building knowledge, family empathy that will be necessary for acceptance! Now this is an education system for life worth perpetuating across the whole of society.
I fell asleep watching stuff on CZcams and was awakened by some of the great sound track you put together for your documentary around six this morning, and couldn't stop watching. Incredible amount of work and supportive wife and kids. Very blessed family, totally blown away. Great job!
Having taken 9 years to do my own little natural home, I feel very guilty watching your whole build in just 2+ hours! Phenomenal job ♥️
Beautyful great job
I've seen earth bag builds before, but I have to say, this is an architectural and artistic thing of beauty! WOW! You are amazing!
😊😊
I can’t believe I started watching this very late last night so I had to watch the last part of it today. I really did enjoy it. I didn’t even look to see how long the video was. Well done. You’ve done a better job than myself.😊
Come across a vlog of yours about two weeks ago , I've binged on a few now and have to say you guys are infectious. Lovely family and am pretty sure your kids are going to grow into very grounded adults. Great job 👍
This popped up into my feed last night & watched it from start to finish. I'm seriously impressed w/the entire outcome of this build & the time you took to sculpt those walls is insane, you ma'am have mad talent & patience. The whole family worked as a team & that's rare in today's day in age. Congratulations on finishing this little masterpiece. I'm swinging over to your main channel to subscribe. Y'all won me over w/this impressive build. I enjoyed watching every bit of this video.
Thanks for the kind words! You made my day:) thanks for watching.
I agree!!! So happy to see everything you did with your family! Good go on kids. That’s a lot of hard work for Younghans, and it didn’t hurt them one bit. Lifelong skills or teaching.
Completely agree it’s nice to watch family’s that work together and come together with a positive attitude 👌
Hard work can be very stressful kids should be very proud.
I totally agree . I watched every bit too. Way to go kids. This family was so awesome to watch . You should all be very proud!!
Yesss yess yess !! The same thing happened to me...it popped up on my feed ...so it was the first time i ever saw any of your videos and i cant express how impressed i was ! thank you for sharing this wonderful project ! you have a new subscriber !
I can’t stress strongly enough how much I enjoyed you kids all working alongside each other, putting together and executing some really well thought out decorative touches to your shed. This is the most outstanding compilation of videos for a build I’ve ever seen. Kudos to you all. Your Pup is a rockstar.
Love the little dino in the background! This is awesome; we live in Phx and we r seriously thinking about going off grid. We are both Army vets; and we are tired on not owning just renting! Good job guys!
Woooow!! Amazed at involved the whole family was! With the storms, shifts in planning and material revamps...you all pushed through. Looks Awesome!! The kids did a great job!!💪🏾🤩👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I can't wait to show it to my mother. She's an old west african ladies that loves anime- and shes also convinced that "dirt block house" as she calls it is the absolute best kind of home. She's gonna love this! You all are wonderful delightfully talented.

Sometimes a natural nature disaster experience, shows you what not to do. And relearn how things can be improved. In order to improve your build, so it doesn't get damaged. You guys are a great family. Including your children . You guys are teaching them a life experience which will help them be self officiant
Congrats guys. Turned out beautifully. It was great to see the whole family working together.
WOW! My PROPS to your kids! You are such good parents to involve them the way you have and for them to do what they do and work as hard as they do speaks very highly of their futures! You kids are AMAZING!! So amazing! Just WOW!!
Kids....very good
that looks way too nice to be called a "shed". That's a masterpiece.
That was my thought too....shed? It's too beautiful to be an office or shed! Add on and call it your home!
This was amazing to watch. On every step I pictured it being built in my back yard. Beautiful family working together. Thanks for letting us see this.
Could there be a more gorgeous couple ever? They look so healthy and happy. ♥️♥️♥️
I've seen almost all the episodes as they appeared but seeing them all in one long stream was so very enjoyable. I did watch the entire video. Great job guys.
Awesome, thank you! Good to hear its still fun to watch sped up.
I miss the dailies and look forward to their return. I will watch all of this, but not sure if I want to do it all at once or in pieces so I have something every day. Probably like deciding how many potatoes chips to eat from a full bag. You all have my respect, admiration, and love.
Binge it, daily videos are coming back next week 🎉
@@TinyShinyHome I finished the chips
Found you guys on accident. What a great family and a great job you all did to make this tiny home a reality. Kudos to the parents for such tremendous exterior/interior work and design as well as creating an incredible and unforgettable building experience (including work ethic) for their children. Actually look forward to your children running with these amazing ideas as they get older to build more cost effective, energy-efficient, eco-friendly, etc. tiny or whatever sized homes. The skills you taught them will lay the groundwork for untold success in their lives. Well done! And I loved every second of your video including the clips on your pets, wild life, plants, and the gorgeous surrounding landscape. That said, I imagine you might create more of these homes so that your children have a place to sleep?
Thanks, yes so many more builds in the future :)
Everything was awesome till the spider and scorpion came out crawling. Ohhh heck nooo😳
Awesome video.. beautiful family. Loved the awesome work the kiddos did❤️
Your kids are so impressive. Working along side of you. They will have memories for life and learn work ethic. I am blown away!
It all started with one woman and one man, and how they support each others dreams. They seem rare to me, in my experience, but in a happy way.
I'm bee-bopping to your music while watching all of you work your butts off. Doesn't seem fair. To use an outdated phrase, you guys are awesome sauce with a side of fries!!!! 💕💕💕
Now that's a callback 😂
Fun fun comment
Yes I did watch this video all the way threw and WOW! You guys rocked it. It turned out soooo awesome. It is beautiful. Congrats guys!!! Absolutely love, love, love the finished product.
at 70 years old I have to say I'm so proud of you. I am proud of a generation that is coming up to be independent and living off the land instead of other opportunities that will fail us eventually. there are others doing this in other countries and I'm also proud of them. I never had the Time to look up I was taking care of so many people and caring for others and here I am pretty much alone and I'm okay.. all the people that I took care of want to be cookie cutters in their world and that's okay. I wish you all the best of luck and a hassle-free life you know what I mean.
These children will have great work ethics! I enjoyed watching the skill and hard work 😓 it took to build this. But most of all, the kids helping! And the dog digging! They accomplished allot more then building an office, they created memories they’ll never forget!
IMHO
The work is remarkable of course. But the most important is that you guys joined the family and worked as a team. A team who cares and love each other. My respects for showing us simple mortals how important family is!
CONGRATS!
What an amazing build. I loved watching the entire time. The whole time I kept thinking what incredible life experiences you have provided for your children. Kudos on a job well done!
Yes! I am one of the MANY people only now finding your channel and all I can say is WOW!!!! All I did was watch this video and I'm tired!! I can't imagine how all of you felt after so many long months and so many long days!! How amazing to see the whole family work together as a team!! It's sooooo beautiful!! Congrats to you all!!!!!
Thanks Robin :)

So fun to watch. I am struck again by how much hard work you have all done. Well done! Watching the bags go up was like watching a 3-D printer. They looked perfect. The whole project is enormously inspiring! Your dog is hilarious. Your family and your videos are always SO FUN to watch.
Oh yes, the Dog!
Very nice job, and it’s great to see an entire family participating!
I love your dog!! Eats hay, barks at dirt, gallops gleefully all around. He's such a cool pup!
He’s the best.
My favorite part of this is the electrical-I’ve seen a few videos like this but they rarely go into the electrical and how they install solar panels, so it’s really cool to see!!!
You guys did such a great job, something to be proud of.

It's so much fun to see a family create together
Your creativity is amazing, and the photography is perfect

You all have so much to be proud of ... this accomplishment, each other, your work as a team and a family. I really enjoyed watching this, and all of your animals. Thank you !
Ah I see thanks
I SO wanna try this on a smaller scale. I want an outdoor kitchen that will shelter against the wind when I'm canning, smoking meat, cooking out. It's always windy here, too, and our monsoons haul off anything not nailed down, so a small cobb building has been a dream for a long time. Now I'm motivated.
The dog is truly elated and having fun in the dirt I love it! He or she & they will live a long healthy life !! 😃
WOW!!! Just loved moving with you on your journey. You put a whole new meaning into the phrase "playing in the mud"!👏👏👏Your little "shed" is beautiful, even the more so because it was built with love, companionship and cooperation within your family (who are all precious)❤️🙌💜
That’s a very interesting build. Material cheap, labourer intensive. Good for your location. I bet it’s cool in the summer. Basically you made a cave.
I would rather be called a small fort it sounds so much better.
Their castle. ✌️❤️🙏😁
@@victoriastevens3166 , nope. Just a power shed, office and guest room. The "castle" will be built later this year.
Phenomenal!! Enjoyed every minute of this build, TSH family!! What a team effort, especially Mom and her persistence & attention to detail..Dad too, of course!! But, those kids, just amazing work & seemingly great attitudes!! (I know, not 100% of the time, I'm sure..LOL) I learned so much and really appreciate the effort it took to put together the 🎥!! Thanks so much, each and everyone of you!!
Out of all the workers the most efficient one is the pup, he works with such enthusiasm! Digging and carrying sticks😂
Beautiful family I love to see children working side by side with their parents. This kinda project together will stay with them for the rest of their lives. The location is great, the build is really cool and the video production is top notch 👍
Oh my glob! This is exactly the project that's been in my mind for years! But bigger than the project itself, I am so impressed with how it was a family effort (includes the cat in the tree and the pooch that was napping half the time) - this family experience is priceless. And such a beautiful family to boot. You guys are awesome. Totally inspired now. Thank you both, your kids and everyone else that made this possible.
YES YES YES ,,,,
Wow, that Cobbing is a __itch. Nice to see a FUNCTIONAL family working together. You're blessed.
Wow I didn't notice this was 2hours I just enjoy it
It was so awesome
YT threw this in my feed today and I'm so glad I watched every second of it! Shed? Who really needs a house with a shed like that? It's beautiful! I've always wanted to try building a small building from natural materials, but it takes a lot of workers or more years than I have left! Do you rent those kids out? They were impressive workers! Beautiful family that almost made all of that work look fun--almost! I'm subscribing and will be going back through your videos!
Thank you so much for the kind words. You just made my night!
I'm loving watching this. So much footage I don't recognize so it is very "fresh" to watch. Love all the family interaction and of course all the Nine nine appearances. Love that pesky T-Rex appearances as well! So great! Take a bow all!
This was the best 2 hours I’ve spent on CZcams in ages. Thank you. Fantastic shed.
Aww thanks :)
hard work does pat off. just beautiful.
Big thank you tiny shiny home for the most wonderful first movie I can watch. I still like watching the original small videos, too cause watching since Feb 2021 keeps me strong. Thanks 😊
I don’t want it to be over! I am so glad I watched the whole thing. It gives me so much hope that I can do this someday. You have a wonderful family, and it was a pleasure watching you all work so hard together.
Ashley, you are truly an artist! Your willingness to try new things is inspiring, the clay flooring redo, victory!
I absolutely was glued to the screen!. So talented!
Wow, I've never seen this before, and the fact you did it as a family and everybody bonded together is truly "Priceless"!
I can't believe you watched the whole thing.
You guys deserve it 💓
Your family worked hard. Your children are adorable. And you guys made it fun.
You guys kept me watching 🙏🥰🙏

@Kelly Goosman, this "shed" is just an office, power station and guest room. They will build their house later this year.
Absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
Why are they so fun to watch really animated although very informative and love the skills. Editing was great too🤙🏾
I finally made it to the end 🙌 2 hours well worth watching I truly enjoyed it 😉
Wow! You people are amazing. You must be so proud of your children. Seeing them join in and work so hard is a breath of fresh air. Incredible effort. Looks absolutely amazing. Wish I was younger, I would have a go at building something like this. Maybe I will try a garden wall. Thank you for your inspiration. Mind blowing.
The knowledge that your kids are gaining is very valuable! They are blessed. I fell in love with your dog! He is very much involved in the project as well ❤️
So awesome! That was a lot of work and such great results. Thanks for sharing!❤
Watched this last night on the tv just like I would watch a movie. The family rocks. You learned and accomplished putting all your thoughts into reality. The video was a masterpiece and presented just how much work and thought went into the project along with a little fun. Thank you for sharing and we are looking forward to what you dream of next.
Same here. You tube recommended it and our homeachool family loved every second!!!
Truly inspiring to see y'all work together as a family. I know it couldn't have been easy, & that's what makes it such a great accomplishment! You know what makes a Tiny Shiny Home? Happy Shiny People!
...with some sun-up to sun-down forced child labor in the middle of the desert heat thrown in for good measure.
Happy Shiny People indeed!!!!
@@brittfox775 Glass half empty much?
@@brittfox775 yeah, I don't know what you are watching. The children didn't seem forced at all. They knew they had to contribute, which they did wholeheartedly & without hesitation. Homesteading is not for the indolent. Chances are you wouldn't survive on a homestead. But as for me, I'm inspired and happy to see them thrive. Merry Christmas!
@@rootzrivers472 Indeed! Merry ⛄ 🎄!
The dog is the star! I like watching the dog dig the soil, it's really fun!!!
Love watching your family accomplishment so much! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Teamwork makes the dream work ❤❤❤👍🏼 love seeing y'all working together. Awesome editing 👌🏼

I'm shocked that it's big enough for the whole family! Nice to see such a hard working family team. God bless you
