  • Today I test rode the 2024 BMW R1300GS, as I continue my search for my next bike. It's a great bike, but is it better than the Multistrada? A way too long video explores this question. Like, subscribe, leave comments!

I went from a multi 1260 to the 1300gs. Multistrada (including the v4) crotch burner. Gs, foot warmer. Love the GS, such a sweet ride! Scary power out of the multi though, can’t deny it. I don’t need that kind of crazy power, the gs is more than enough. The gs is way smoother and before you know it you’re speeding.

@@tatmandu1722 the V4 Multi is a bit of a different animal - Ducati worked really hard at keeping the engine heat from affecting you, and I didn't notice it at all when I rode it.
OTOH, I rode the GS twice - one day it was quite warm (enough so that I couldn't leave the windscreen all the way up - what amazing wind protection!), and I could really feel the heat coming off of the cylinders.
Both bikes are incredibly smooth, and I totally agree that you find yourself speeding while thinking you're taking it easy. Fortunately, both have the adaptive cruise control.
      Which GS did you get?

I like Ducati bikes but not for me. I m not a mechanic, so I prefer to put my money on reliability. The BMW GS 1250 was a great bike, mainly the GSA, but when you want to crush miles sometimes I use to feel the lack of a little more top end. Whichever this new GS 1300 has enough. I think that the 1300 GSA will be awesome. I’m curious about that revelation to come.
If you prefer the Multistrada, go and try the big rally version. The more bulky and bigger bike style can be what you’re feeling is lacking on the bike here in presence. Maybe that.
I have a BMW 1250 RT and the power feels different. I don’t know if it’s the engine mapping, but it goes way faster than what I need. The wind protection is phenomenal. Very spacious for rider and passenger and luggage. But it can be very easily used for daily riding. Without the side panniers, just with the top box it behaves perfectly in any city traffic. And it functions like Swiss clock, no flaws and no complaints. Additionally it can be ridden in a more sporty way and it performs impeccable.
The GS 1300 in the Trophy colors is the adventure bike I would choose. Had lots of fun riding it. Full of technology, it’s a state of the art bike. It’s an incredible road bike that can be properly used on very different environments. It’s a Jack of all trades. And I like its looks . A lot of people didn’t enjoyed the design change, but it was agreeable to me from the start. It’s modern. And for the one who seeks to be on top of the wave. I approve it 100%!
    Thanks for the video

Hey mate, thanks so much for watching and commenting! I actually don't worry at all about the amount of presence that the GS has - I prefer the slightly smaller form factor. And if I do buy a Multi, it's going to be the Pikes Peak, which is also a little smaller.
I'll let you in on a little secret - I've made my choice! It's going to be a month or two before the reveal, so keep an eye out!

    How would you compare GS with NEW - 2024 - KTM - 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R ?

      @RogersMotorcycleAdventures  Před 6 dny +1

I hope to be able to make that comparison for you before too long, but I haven't ridden any of the KTM's yet. Fingers crossed it'll happen before the end of the year!

Regarding fuel economy, an i4/v4 engine just consumes more fuel. I have a 2021 R1250GS

There’s no way multistrada handles better than this GS. Multistrada is top heavy compared to any GS especially this one. Low center of gravity gives the best handling nothing can beat the boxer setup in low center of gravity. Simple as that.

I appreciate that you have a point of view, but I've ridden them both. The GS handles great! The Multistrada handles just a touch sharper. I'm positive the Pikes Peak lays them both to waste.

Hi Joseph, and thanks for watching! I haven't made a decision yet, but I'm hoping to get out to the Sunshine Coast in the next week or two, to test out the Tigers.
It has to happen soon, I've put my Versys up for sale!

I was going to buy the GS1300. But nobody told me about the Starbucks auto takeover.. I guess I’ll just stick with the old and trusty RT then.. 😅
