- Spoiler free 200h played review. What an experience Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader is. Baffling how good it is at times. Mostly owes its brilliance to an amazing W40k setting which might be one of the best settings ever in a CRPG.

I just recently got into the game because of you, wish I didn't wait so long! This game is amazing, i'm using your sniper build for agenta and shes pumpin.
Owlcat games are always released in to what is practically speaking a paid open beta, like wrath the real 1.0 will be the enhanced edition and reaching "feature complete" will take al the DLC and patches over a year or two.
All that being said, I had a blast with my dogmatic playthrough, and I'm genuinely looking forward to future playthoughs once the game is complete.
Got through most of Act 2 and put it down when I saw that they are adding 2 companions and a total 40ish hours of additional gameplay. Loved what I played and will love the total package.
I love Owlcat but don't have the energy for another 200 hour RPG. Might pick it up in a year or 2. Thanks for the great review as always!
It doesn't take 200h, mate. About 80-100. Forgot to mention that. I did a lot of build testing so that is why 200h.
Only change to levelling I'd like to see is making 1 exemplar talent available at the cost of 1 active skill in either the first or second archetype
It would allow for better unsanctified psyker builds
I won't watch the video because I am currently playing it, will finish act 2, restarted from hard to unfair when I got the hang of it, I really really enjoy this game, I would like to play it on all 3 convictions in time, with all the expasions, I am just afraid to continue atm because on forum everyone keeps crying about game breaking bugs in the later acts.
My favorite warhammer game ever. I just want more planets to keep on exploring and to keep killing more heretics.
Im hoping olwcat have made enough money now from pathfinder and 40k to start improving how their future games present.
Is this DOS2 but with 40k instead of DnD?
40k dnd but its own version.
Any 1 get this op heretic zealot psy greatsword? Love the game
It’s a good game, need more dlc
I think il.wait 6 months until they fix bugs and release more patches otherwise excellent game
Two first acts are 9+/10 - probably the best crpg experience since Infinity engine games. (minus space combat) Story is good and makes sense, combat is challenging and fair (on unfair heh), atmosphere made me kinda immersed into the game (but tbh it sometimes felt more starwar-ish than 40k).
Next three acts are 5/10 - class balances becomes broken thanks to spaghetti code attribute stacking (both classes and items) and free turns from officers (which is brilliant idea to make combat more dynamic but poorly implemented late into the game). Story kinda stops making sense (act 3 is just absurd from lore perspective) and the game feels extremely rushed - seriously getting two lines of text after finishing companion quest is just not ok. I didnt mind bugs because I knew it's Owlcat game and installed toybox on day 1. That's sad because I know that no patches or dlcs will bring later acts to the quality of early game. I had similar feel to pathfinder wotr, just enjoyed it less.
Overall I think despite it's massive flaws it's the best crpg since Wasteland 3/Pillars of eternity IMO.
I was super excited for this as I love the Pathfinder games 🦉🐈 and am a huge WH40k fan. The setting is too restrictive for an RPG for me. I really just cant get into it and ive quit during act 4. I just can't anymore. It'll be a game forgotten in a few years.
Honestly man, I just cant get into these long CRPGs when they arent voice acted. I can be okay with low production values, no close ups, avatars not acting out whats happening, but it just pulls me out of the experience so much when I have to read paragraph upon paragraph in the middle of the action. That was the reason I could never get into CRPGs before, and why I liked BG3 so much. Secondly, over complicated systems and levelling is turning me off of Rogue Trader. I dont want to spend 10-20 minutes levelling each character at the end of every combat and trying to decipher math formals for what is best.
more voice acting just got added to the game mainly the start i think
Bought the game when it came out and honestly the writing is out of this world, but is far away from being out of Early Access. The game is a buggy mess that locks you out from a lot of builds and the 2 last acts since they're bugged to hell. People who played the last two acts had to use toybox to trigger the flags to advance the story, and if i have to do reverse engineering to play a game i paid for, that game is shit.
I love CRPG's but Owlcat deserves to get fucked for this practice, even though that would hurt the genre. It's not healthy that those guys recicle most of their code and assets, spent 3 years developing a game, and they don't have a playable version yet. But the writing? Almost at Planescape Torment level, and that is really hard to achieve
Played it , the game is not finished unfortunately. 4 chapter is a plot mess , felt like they stitched the story in a hurry and released it.
Definitely not even top 10.. and as a big 40K fan, I have been clamoring for a 40K crpg for a long time.. This ain't it!
Why not? I found the game to be superb.
Im a huge 40k fan.. But I did not expect this to be that great. Ill eventually pick it up, on sale. Been waiting for a 40k rpg for years.. But I dont think they did it very well. Turn based combat is just too slow, and boring imo.. One of the main reasons I also skipped bg3
Owlcat are also very feminism first, in their development
Played the game and I didn’t see any big feminist takes, I mean goddamn one of the companions is fragile and the other one begs you to hit on her so lol?
@@vitormauch7367 I havent played Rogue Trader... as I said... but have 1600 hrs in their previous titles.. Going out of their way to label "she" in all descriptions, females tend to be cast in all the authoritative roles, just lots of little things that begin to paint a picture of modernity
@@jmmywyf4lyf honestly not seeing it with this game
@@vitormauch7367 Ill take your word for it.. But looks like majority of your teammates are female.. I dont think Ive seen so many females in an entire campaign, and this game manages tobget most of them, on one team
Imagine calling this broken, unbalanced, poorly paced game with absolutely boring combat as a Top-3 and must play LMAO
Really hate this universe because everything brings death and is about death. hate these kind of worlds, even Diablo world is better, slight.
