Paris Jackson Interview - On What Success Is-Musical Influences-Love for Her Brothers-Lighthouse

- In this episode, Ted Stryker welcomes Paris Jackson to the Tuna on Toast Studio (aka my second bedroom)
Paris just released her new song called "Lighthouse".
Paris recorded the song in December of 2021 with Butch Walker producing and Mike McCready from Pearl Jam on guitar.
Paris and Butch had been talking about working with each other for years, it finally came to fruition on "lighthouse" as well has future songs yet to be released.
Paris released a solo album in 2020 titled Wilted which was produced by Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra. Paris talks about how great that experience was and what a good human Andy is.
When discussing her music, she says at the end of the day, all her songs are folk.
Paris tells Stryker she started playing guitar at 13 but doesn't consider herself to be a guitar player.
Paris Jackson talks about how singing "Surrender" with the band Cheap Trick AND playing a set with her own band at Boston Calling and joining The Struts on stage was one of the best days of her life.
Stryker and Paris chat about being so under the microscope and not having a chance to stumble without it being super magnified.
Stryker asks Paris about music execs that try to get her to perform more under the pop umbrella than a rock or folk style.
Paris tells Stryker about the music she grew up listening to from Motley Crue to Simon and Garfunkle and Snoop and Dre.
Stryker asks Paris what is success to her when it comes to her music career.
Paris tells Stryker how the band Radiohead and their music helped her through some very dark times.
Paris mentions that she'd love to work with Conor Oberst, Cage the Elephant, Dave Grohl and Margot & the Nuclear So and So's.
Paris tells Stryker she doesn't watch too much TV but really loves gore... and to be scared!
Paris said the only person that can really scare her is her brother Prince Jackson.
She also talks about how lucky she is to have such great brothers.
Paris tells Stryker how she's had a few songs written about her that were not good songs.
It was such a wonderful afternoon chatting with Paris Jackson, she is smart, talented and very nice!

Love, love, love Paris. Following her IG gives a little look in to who she is outside of her public image. A lovely soul. An amazing artist and creative person.
No idea about her music but ill try to remember later on today to give her a quick listen. Wasn't a MJ fanbut im 5min into the vid and will continue watching....i know this is media and promo but all things considered im impressed with her so far. Her childhood is in the 99.9999999% unique percentile and is so entirely removed from the standard like reality for most of us. Good on her for doing her thing and being really quite down to earth, no air of privilege, or attitude and basically seeming to be 'normal' after having the most extraordinary childhood experiences. I wish her ghe best of luck and continued happiness!

I don't know if it's just me, but to me she seems to be really depressed and sad. I noticed that in other interviews, too. I heard that she regularly suffers from depression. That's sad and I do really feel sorry for her 😔If that's the case, I hope she'll be better very soon! 🙏

Because she most likely doesn't want to talk about him because she's promoting her music right now, so she might have asked the interviewer to not ask about MJ and focus on the music only
Mike was briefly mentioned by Ted there (Paris and Prince were at the Tonys where the MJ musical won four awards including one for Myles Frost's portrayal of their father) but yeah she's being her ownself. Kids of famous people (and there is nobody more famous than Mike even 13 years after his passing) often get a bit tired when people just want to talk to them about their famous mother or father. Paris loves her dad a lot but she doesn't exist simply to talk about him and please his huge fanbase. She's the daughter of the biggest icon the world ever seen, sure, but she's her own person trying to live her own life and own career and such. There's many interviews where she talks about Mike. :)
