    Cant remember who exactly said this about him but it went something like this "Most super athletes rely on the fact they just run by you or jump higher, but he took it technical" Y'all you can see in this video, he was on point with his footwork, his dribbles, his pull ups, basically his fundamentals.. Even Kobe said it, there were no wasted moves, no wasted dribbles, no wasted steps. He did all that first, and then add his crazy athleticism, sheeeeesh.

      When you don’t waste movement your saving your Stamina you save time and you also often times get better shots,it’s crazy how plying more technical or just paying attention to small details can make a big impact on your game.While everyone is slowing down in the 3rd quarter you start speeding up.These small things add up.

      Honestly, the way he moves and attacks the basket - Vince Carter is the closest talent to Michael and skillset. He just obviously was a 'nice guy' version of that which is not the same player. Kobe is the next closest, replica, but not as disciplined as Jordan. Jordan had heat checks too...but it was nowhere near like the 2000s players, where that became a 'thing'. This is why Jordan was always a bit better, he had the right discipline to win (like a Tim Duncan), but also had the competitive fire of insanity (like Kobe), but also the shooting efficiency as good as any.

    This was peak Jordan. At this point in his career, he had mastered basketball, in general. He was in the prime of his career from a physical standpoint and had also matured significantly in terms of his understanding of the game and how to win. He was the most athletic player in the world and also somehow the most fundamentally sound player in the world as well. Nobody else had a chance. If he doesn't completely step away from the game for a year and a half, the Bulls likely win 8 Championships in 8 years. The '95 season is the only one where I'm not confident they would've won due to them not having a legit big man after losing Horace, but with an in-shape Jordan (don't forget he rejoined the team in '95 with less than 20 games left in the regular season, rusty and completely out of basketball shape), I still wouldn't have bet against them finding a way to win it all.

    From watching his highlights you can see the influence he had on guys like Kobe, Melo, tmac and Vince in their jumpers. They all had very similar mechanics to Jordans jump shot but Jordan has the smoothest form. Tmac and Vince had the bounce, Melo had the smoothness and Kobe had the closest form from set up to the follow through only thing is Kobe didn't have the elevation Jordan had and sometimes due to that Kobe had to jack up shots and fades rather than have the shot smoothly sail from his hands like MJ.

      That’s just not true 90s was not peak athletics this is old head talk. Today kids can do everything jordan can. Isaac Okoro dunked from the free throw at 16, Zion did, Dennis Smith dunked from the free throw at 6’2, Zach Lavine went through the legs, windmilled, and 360d from the free throw off 3 steps. Andrew Wiggins can 720 dunk. Lebron dunked from the free throw line IN GAME. James White windmilled and went through the legs from the CORNER of the euroleague free throw which is already farther back than the American free throw. Doing it from the corner adds distance. Hell even SERGE IBAKA dunked from the free throw. And you generation said Jordan could fly for doing a simple dunk with his foot ON THE LINE. Your generation lied and said Jordan had a 48 inch vertical which is a straight up lie. This would put his head a full 6 inches above a 10ft rim MINIMUM. In reality vertical jump is how much you displace your center of mass and so in reality his head would be far above a 10ft rim because your COM doesn’t start displacing until you leave the brown from your tip toes because you are still applying for to the ground and jumping. So really he is jumping at about 6’8-9. Every single finish jordan did high schoolers do nowadays. And when you look at performance sports like Olympic weightlifting and Track and Field that is actually athletics and not a skill sport like basketball most top marks are from present day. As for entertainment and stuff like that that’s subjective.
      Please don’t be an old head.

    • @Nysdaddy
      @Nysdaddy Před 6 měsíci +2

      The 80’s & 90’s had MJ, Deion Sanders, Bo Jackson.
      And no, kids today can not do everything Mike could do, you are condensing everything Mike can do into a free throw line dunk, or running & jumping. MJ’s the most complete player in nba history.

    • @mjgould1192
      @mjgould1192 Před 6 měsíci

      @@Nysdaddy I was specifically talking about the original comment. He said “peak athletics” and “peak everything” and I showed how the 90s was in fact not the peak of athleticism. Not in track, basketball, football, weightlifting etc. Most world records in any sport are recently. If it was true that 90s was peak athleticism than 90s would have most world records in all sports. This dude even said peak society was 90s, clearly just stuck in the past.
      And no I don’t think anyone can do everything Mike can do in 1 single player, but players today have skills and attributes that he had. There are players with mid range like Jordan today, there are players with athleticism like Jordan today, there are players with defense like Mj. Kobe Bryant literally came after Jordan and can do every single last thing Jordan could do. And there is no way you just said Jordan is the most complete ever with Lebron James playing today🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️.
      So no Jordan is not special today. He is special FOR HIS TIME, just like how 99% of all athletes ever are. They are great for their time, let them be great. They don’t have to be the greatest forever and it’s unrealistic to expect them to be the greatest fort ever.

    • @Nysdaddy
      @Nysdaddy Před 6 měsíci +1

      To say our generation lied about Mikes vert is almost amazing and a purely emotional comment that shows just how young you are. Did they or any other generation lie about anybody else’s vert??
      And then it’s like you guys can’t understand what all the rule changes have done to the game. It’s so obvious. Whatever players do today they do with no clog paint (def 3-sec’s rule), a (charge arc) in place so big men can’t stand right under the rim anymore, and of course no touching is allowed now that they’ve taken (hand checking) away along with many other tweaks to increase pace and points.
      Those rule changes allow for players today to play around with the ball and have more “freedom to express them selves”, they always have a non-packed paint to maneuver around in and hardly any physical obstruction at the rim. The layups you mentioned and plays players make today are made with no 7-footer standing right under the rim anchoring a packed paint. And players today never have to worry about getting touched up at the rim either.
      Where are all of Zack Levine, Andrew Wiggins, James White, and Serge Ibakas ‘dunk-on somebody’ dunks and posters over big men, or over anybody period? Where are they all at?…There aren’t any because there’s never any obstruction at the rim, it’s illegal in todays nba. Mike has like 50 of those and they’re all on players way bigger than him that he met at the rim.
      And if hand checking was still allowed and players could reach their hand out and legally grab/touch you, there would be no dancing with the ball out in front, shaking & baking, twitching & pumping & faking. That type of shht wouldn’t even be on a players mind til all-star games or whatever.
      Players would be shielding those legal hands from the ball with their body, just like you seen from Magic, DJ, Stockton, GP, Jkidd, Penny & Tim Hardaway, etc, or any other players handling the ball.
      Put all those rules back in place like in Mikes era and everybody’s numbers go down, everybody’s production changes across the bored, it has nothing to do with era.
