One thing I love about my Helix is that it has a stereo AES/EBU output. For me, that's a killer way to get sound from the box to the computer in as crystal clear a way as possible. None of the others have this. Maybe a small thing, but the details matter. The sound quality of the Helix blows me away and the fact that they still update with new stuff years later is so cool. I think it's at a price point most people can tolerate too.

These are the type of things that interest me a lot about this device. I keep saying it, the routing. I can only imagine if they do update the device, keep this routing philosophy AND double the DSP...imagine what that can be....

Even though its 8 years old, The helix still holds its own. The most recent updates really kept it relevant, with the cab/mic revamp, aswell as adding more awesome amps and effects. If you can demo Helix Native, then i would do that asap to get a feel for it. Theres tricks to get the best feel out of it, like adding a tiny bit of LA compressor at the end of the chain, and putting low/high cut on the cab/cabs around 100hz/10k to take care of boomy and fizziness really helps. GL man

    Some thoughts:
    - Fractal FM3/9 or Axe Fx III: very professional and high quality devices with many amp models and effects. You can go really in depth when it comes to the routing etc. The signal flow is highly customizable and stuff like that. Some of the drawbacks can be the prices, the fact that they ony run in 48khz and that the audience might be slightly limiting for your channel. I've also had issues with using them as audio interfaces with the USB disconnecting regularly (known issue) and no latency reporting to the daw.
    - Helix: a lot of fun to use. Many high quality amp models and so many fun, quirky and unique effects. It's easy to dial in and to tweak but still with a lot of advanced options to go deep. Works really well as an interface too and slightly more affordable than the Fractal stuff where I am from. The audience is very broad too. Some potential drawbacks could be that they update less frequently than Fractal although I think they update enough and that the device is a bit older but it's still wonderful and I bought one recently too...
    - Quad Cortex: fun device with some cool sounds in there. Does capturing and it's still a relatively new device. PC editor is now available and plugin compatibility will also be available soon. I don't like NDSP as a company though and the amp sounds in there aren't as good as FAS and Line 6 if I'm honest. Capturing is very nice though but not as accurate as Tonex. In terms of the audience it's young, hip and djenty overall :)
    - Headrush: cool devices but just not good enough in comparison to the competition. The modeling tech is outdated. Cool for singers though with the Antares effects etc.

Thanks for this and your contribution to the video!! Most details point to Helix for me. My only hangup is that I really feel like we will see a new device form Line 6 sooner than later. My luck it would be the day after I buy a Helix ;) But I love what I see as far as IO and audio interface. This would give me the DI and Re-amping routing I desperately need in my studio. But I also love hat I see with the FM9. Maybe I'll end up with both eventually ;)))))

On the other side the two new headrush boards has cloning. That's easily on pair with the profiling on Kemper sound wise. I own both! Been very positive surprised with the headrush actually. I have a TMP. Leo Fender said, "Form follows function". 8 cores of processing power for a real experience. It's twice the QC and 4x the Helix and 8x the Kemper. The more power you have, the less latency you get. The TMP has already made me a better guitar player. I spend much more time playing than programming. Don't need a manual to get decent results. Built solid for stage. Small enough for a table top to use the intuitive touch screen. Also, you can use a computer (I have a 32 inch computer monitor) to edit patch changes. Headphones sound great, output to guitar amp sounds great, to mixer and to FRFR. If you are up til 4am sometimes, as I am, you need a great headphone system. Also, the matching Tone Master FR 12 and FR 10 cabs are the best in the industry. Using two of them for a massive stereo sound is awesome. You can use the matching expression pedal but since I already have a Boss EV-5 Expression pedal and Boss FS5-L foot switch for the (latched) toe switch that works fine. Fender has a huge community. When Fender came out with the Tone Master amps (I have the Deluxe Reverb with the updates) I knew Fender was going for it. All that processing power for just one amp, that appealed to me. They were and are serious about showing us what a tube amp sounds like, how it operates, how it behaves when pushed. The first licensed EVH amps show Fender is serious about getting it right. Some amps take up to three months to perfect. That's why Fender's modeling is superior, they have the resources in their labs and studios and have hired the best people. I want to play guitar. I can let the real engineers do the engineering. The DSP power is now at the level where Fender says, it's time to do this. The graphical user interface is for musicians, not men in white lab coats. With the TMP, you can discover your sound and have fun while doing it. The screen is so beautiful. The Telecaster knobs work great. All the tube purists can now migrate to the digital era with a Ferrari under the hood of the TMP. Use a Tone Master amp to get the idea of how good Fender has replicated the tube amp experience. Plus there are so many good effects. Also, since the 4 effects loops work so good, I added an Eventide H90 for extra versatility.

      @QuoVadis88 Před 10 měsíci

@@mikem5685 WRONG. Nothing was proved. Sonic is comparing EL34 tubes to 6L6 tubes. Of course they are going to sound different. Plus the other modelers don't have the EVH Stealth amp. There are 6,000 IR's to choose from, different mic placements, mics, compression etc. You can easily dial in preferred sounds as I have done on my own TMP. My TMP sounds great with headphones or FRFR cabs. There are hundreds of ways to tailor the sound. The TMP does not suck. You take a preset and customize it to your preference. In Sonic Drive Studio review of the TMP he praised all the amp models it had and all the rest of the features. I use the TMP every day. I have other modeler units and the TMP is by far the most versatile and easy to dial in great tones. A side by side comparison is not very good if the amps are not the same. EL34 tubes sound very different from 6L6 tubes. There are hundreds of variations in mic placement and mics. Plus the updates are coming at Xmas. Fender did not spend 3 months modeling the EVH amp to make it sound like it sucks. I use the tools the TMP provides to tailor my sound. I never use the presets as is. The presets are a starting point, not the end point. I have a TMP. If you don't have a TMP you should not be judging it like you are an authority on hearsay. I have a Stealth EVH. Sonic does not. I have a TMP that I have customized the presets on. It sounds great. All my customized presets sound great. I have many tube amps so I know what a tube amp sounds like. I have many modelers and I know what they sound like. You can be sure Fender knows all about the comments by Sonic, and will respond with the Xmas updates to satisfy Sonic and followers who have been led astray.

I have an hx stomp xl but I'm not content with the sounds even after various tweaks and following examples of other youtubers ahs their settings and suggestions. It's ok for in the house practising but it's not for me playing live. I don't have a studio nor record but if I did and had the reasons you have, I would opt for the Quad cortex. The price has been reduced and it now has the desktop editor software which will help when creating on it. It also does captures, so you can set up your amp, speaker, cab with your pedals get them to what suits your taste then make a digital version of that gear there and then which you can use everyone you want to record without having to tweak the amp and pedals every time. It also has the in out connections for your studio gear. Then in the future, if the Tonemaster pro improves with updates, sound and community or a newer helix or whatever with better models, functionality, improved user interface is released, you could consider upgrading or adding to (as those might not be able to capture gear like the quad cortex can)

I haven't used any of these, but I'm very interested in getting into a modeler. I very much appreciate your thoughts on this, and I look forward to anything else you find out about these. I will say that the more I work in my studio, the less interested I am in bending over to change settings, move cables, or even look down to make sure I'm stomping on the right button. I'm thinking about making a panel to mount my effects vertically next to a rack with a patch bay to make it easier to move things around. I'm sure that I would rather have a modeler that can be rack mounted, if I have a choice.

Listening to your requirements, the best choice, if cost isn't an issue, is the Axe FX III. It has by far the best routing abilities of all your choices, it has bay far the best Audio Interface capabilities, reamping, amp model selection and realism, effects etc.. It's not complicated, unless you want to make it so. People say that because you can dive deeper into parameters on any block than anything else on the market. But, you really don't have to. AND, as long as you can use the Axe Edit Application, and not so much the front panel, which for studio use, is perfect, it is very simple to use. Considering what you want, I think the Fractal Axe III is the way to go. Especially since it a studio only device, and has all the IO. Yes, it's expensive, but worth it as the crown jewel of your studio. I come from many years of gigging and recording with Helix, and the FM3 and FM9. You could get a gently used AFX III for not too much more than a new FM9 or Helix. Also, it has by far, more power than the other floor based units and the Kemper, allowing you to make complex presets and have comprehensive routing schemes if you wanted to, controlling and managing other pieces of outboard gear in your studio. Basically, anything you can think up, you are likely able to create sonically withing the Axe FX III.

On the subject of the Axe-FX 3. I hate it when people begin talking about this device in terms of MONEY! Oh, let's not forget about "It's SO COMPLICATED!!!" The Axe-FX 3 is something you will never outgrow. You get what you pay for! It's a one-time purchase. It does it ALL and will probably never be surpassed in its ability to produce fabulous tones from a simple setup of 1 cab and 1 amp to the most creative, inventive, COMPLICATED, experimental, and amazing concoction of WHATEVER your imagination can come up with!! Then, there's the electronics/audio amplifier nut that LOVES to get into the nitty-gritty of how a guitar tube amp works and what can be manipulated with internal parameters. (can the competition do THAT?) WOW!, now THAT'S what I call AMP MODELING! Music and songwriting is one thing, but the GEAR that enhances, and inspires your creativity should be limitless. The Axe-FX3...simply AWESOME!

I totally get the love for the Axe FX...but I do understand why the cost is an issue for some. One amp modeler can take the place of an investment 100 times over. BUT..amps, when taken care of, can last pretty much forever. They don't expire. Modelers will lose their value. You can pick up a Fractal AX8 for 500 bucks now. So if you make money with your gear it's a small price to pay. If you don't it's not the best investment. for me it's a business decision so you won't hear me complain about the cost ;)

Just pick the one that has the most suitable interface for your needs. We can all get caught up in this sounds a bit better than that A/B comparisons but very little seems to be discussed what's the user experience like. Pointless having a great sounding modeller if you don't like its work flow and you can't get the most of it and there's no one size fits all. Lets say Modeller A sounds a little bit better than Modeller B but Modeller B UI is more appealing to you. No right or wrong answer it just depends on the users needs. Coming from a producers background for the last 30+ years I find Axe FX logical and very easy to use but if I put myself in the head of someone new to this, I can see why it would turn them off. At the end of the day, all of these modellers can sound great and all of them can sound bad so understanding your chosen modeller is paramount for good results

If you want the best tones possible, the most processing power, and the most flexibility for studio use, I would suggest the Axe-FX III Mark II Turbo. The breadth of features it offers is not matched by any other product. The downsides are that it is expensive and there aren't nearly as many users as there are for Line6, Kemper, and probably Fender. You aren't likely to attract a huge audience making Fractal Audio focused content unless your videos are exceptional. Your main competition on CZcams will be Brett Kingman, Leon Todd, and Cooper Carter.
If your main reason to get a modeling unit is to get eyeballs on your content then the best answer is the Tone Master. The CZcams scene for this product isn't quite as crowded yet and the reach of the Fender name will undoubtedly mean a large user base moving forward. Like you said, the hardware has a lot of processing power, but it is not very flexible at this point. Also, the aliasing is substantial and can be easily heard in the tone.

Not sure where my prior comment went..... There are really only two choices IMO. Fractal and Helix.
AxeFX III is the most expensive, most feature rich in the Fractal catalogue. The FM9 is the Goldlocks unit. You would just need to decide on if the features of the FM9 met your studio needs. If you don't need a footcontroller (the AxeEdit editor is fantastic), you will save a nice chunk of money - still the most expensive. Largest Amp catalog, constant development. If you like all flavor of things Marshall, there is no unit that tops the number of Marshall and Modded Marshall models. I was in the first few groups of users back in 2007-2008 with the AxeFX standard.. Great community there as well. The reverbs, Delays and Chorus are worth the price alone IMO. I don't feel the unit is difficult to work with in the editor, but you can tweak as deep as you want to go.
Honestly, you could use SPDIF out of any of the Fractal units into your existing interface, and that opens up some different pricing options for you. The FM3 is currently on sale for 899 USD.
Helix Floor. Great unit, easy to use with or without the editor. Good Amps and FX. Great routing options. Development is less, but still ongoing. This is what I have today, the FM9 didn't exist at the time of purchase and I've stayed with the Helix.
IMO the Fractal edges out the Helix in general out of the box tones across the platform. Many of the default Amp/FX setting defaults have always seemed to work when I had my units. Some on the Helix will require a little fine tuning for many.
The Quad Cortex...While is starting to look like the might deliver on initial launch promises, it's yet to be seen on delivering. Power issues, WiFi issues, I think they fixed some of the cloud sharing that drove users insane. You have Tonex - you don't need another capture box. I'd pass here for now.
Fender, too early to tell here. Base fenders sound great, the other amps hit or miss. Form Factor and some of the features seem good. But having a bunch of DSP and no proof of a development track record long-term, it would be a hard pass for me until they are on par with Helix or Fractal. And they definitely are not today.
You don't buy a modeller for what is promised to come, you purchase based on the existing feature set, determine if that meets your needs, history and track record, then always price. Just look at initial QC purchasers - they still don't have the full feature set promised at launch years ago.
I don't think Helix or Fractal will have their next variation Flagship unit in 2024.

This is awesome. thank you very much for your insight. As an amp guy I never thought about my gear "expiring" or needing future development. @@LonelyRocker , With modelers it's difficult not to look at them like end of life computers.
We're reaching a DSP point now where the updates are going to be very detailed specific items. Helix has less frequent updates. Fractal more frequent, and somewhat changes models historically a bit more frequently, I think this will slow down somewhat. Again, we're reaching a plateau for a bit with these platforms. It's really about eeking out the last bit of functionality and quality of life/ergonomics in both of these units as far as where current development is focused.
We all fall into the trap of wanting all the amp models/tones ever created, but at the end of the day we really need to settle into more of a top 10 tones, add FX as necessary then create some music.

If you want a pure modeling platform and it must be hardware based then imo your choice is between a Fractal unit or The Quad Cortex. And strictly speaking in terms of tweaking and flexibility, Fractal takes the crown. Without question. The QC has HUGE potential but Neural has only just started to make any moves to realize that potential. Whereas from day one, Fractal has been refining their product and making their units more capable.
P.S. If at all possible, you should borrow/rent the units you are considering. There's nothing like hands on experience and hearing them for yourself. And if you live in or near a large urban area with one or more backline providers, all the better. You can probably rent any or all of these units.

I've been using the Axe Fx3 Mk2 for close to 2 tears in my home studio, it's the Lamborghini of modelers and effects.
However it's way overkill to bring to simple smaller gigs because you'll also need their foot controller.
However, the Axe Fx FM9 is a floor model all in one for gigging, so you get all the best sounding effects and amp modeling.
As to the complication issue?, not true, if you go with any of the 384 outstanding factory presets, and choose the ones you like, you can simply tweak them and save them, it's easy as that.
The complication issue can arise if you decide to deep dive in the parameters, you can go down to the most minut tweaking if you wish too, and no one else comes close to that.

Until recently, I used a Kemper Rack and an Eleven Rack with a line mixer for live performance with a Beringer Midi Board. The Eleven Rack sounds good but features very limited effects and is getting outdated. So I decided to get myself a new rack. The Kemper definitley stays because I profiled my amps (Boogie Mark IV, Studio 22, Engl, Marshall), it's reliable, good on dynamic response and is kind of a solid backbone of my system. The only downside is the limitation in effects but the ones that are included are very good. Kemper finally made an editor which is very useful.
As I like to have more possibilities, I needed some more devices. On my "negative list" were Quad Cortex (no editor! (Even Donner can do that on a $250 device) and there are not enough controls for using it as a floor board), Helix (the quality of the effects goes from poor to very good but I don't like the dynamics and sounds of the amps; the editor is functional but unattractive) and the Headrush (same point as the Helix but better amps).
I finally decided to add a GT-1000 and an Axe-FXIII.
The GT-1000 serves as a floorboard and (of course) also as a sound device. The handling of the device with knobs and switches is (unlike the Kemper) terrible. Roland/Boss still uses the same old menu structure as on the GP-8, even though this device is much more complex. Very fortunately, there is a useful editor (which is still unattractive and sometimes seems not be logic, but works). The GT-1000 features only a few amps and I don't like most of them. I was thinking of adding a Tonex into one of the FX-Loops but finally decided to work with the internal X-Amps. They sound much better than the other ones. This way, I only have two or three amps in the GT-1000 but these are very flexible. The good points of the GT-1000: the effects come in a large variety are absolutely unbeatable. In addition to the standard effects, there are many unusual effects which open a lot of possibilites (e.g. accoustic and sitar simulation and other crazy stuff; they sound incredible). Also, complex signal paths are possible; I like to use a wet-dry-wet setup on the GT-1000. One other important function of the GT-1000: it is my midi central witch incredible switching and CC possibilities.
The Axe FXIII features excellent amps and cabs as well as a vast variety of good effects. Everything is dynamic and hassle free but it's a very complicated device. I only edit with the software editor since the onboard controls and menus are not very user friendly (better the the GT-1000 bis still miles away from the Kemper). The other important function of the Axe FXIII: it serves as a programmable mixer. The guitar in goes directly to ouput 2 and 3 and then into the Kemper and the GT-1000. Their outputs are connected to inputs 2 and 3 (each Stereo) and I can mix the lanes of the AxeFX with the Kemper and GT-1000 output signals. Like this the Kemper and the GT-1000 get integrated in the AxeFX signal path and I have a 3-modeller-parallel system with a single clean stereo output (analog and/or digital).
I'm very happy with this combination since I like complex sounds and this offers endless possibilities. Downside: it's expensive and programming takes forever.

I've had the HX Stomp, Boss GX100 (also GT1, GT-001, GT8, GT6 and GT5), original Pod, Behringer V-Amp, TC Nova, SansAmp, Zoom 9002 etc and now have an Ampero One. IMHO by far the most important thing is how good the drives sound when they're just breaking up. They can all do super clean and super driven, but the point when you're getting sustain and balls without realising it's distorting is very hard to do. The best at that are the Ampero and the GT5, funnily enough. After the GT5, Boss changed the drive circuit in the GT series and they're not the same. Don't like the Line 6 stuff 'cos the drives don't do breakup properly.

I think in your situation the perfect solution is an Axe Fx, yes you can use ins/outs 2,3,4 as fix loops or you can connect with your real amps / analog pedals, but it is important, you must have to use a load box between your amp and the Axe fx, for example that Suhr load box from your studio and basically in this case the axe fx can be used as an ir loader too. You have the possibility to create simple and extremely complex presets and routings if you need! That’s my opinion/ advice. I hope this helps you to find the right modeler. Cheers!

Since Line 6 has been modeling for DECADES, and given your prerequisites of using it as a 'hub' for your studio - The Helix Rack is my recommendation.
TONS of I/O (including Word Clock [In], S/PDIF [In and Out] and AES/EBU [In and Out with L6 Link for powercabs or chaining multiple units for more DSP]), a constantly updating and improving amp list, hands down the best effects of the bunch, super easy signal routing with tons of options. I've been using a Line 6 Spider (older one and newest one, both fantastic for the time) my entire guitar life, and the Helix Rack & Control Pedal is the godfather of my dream rig... until the next big bang of a device from Line 6 that is ;)

Well, from my perspective, if you are looking for content to create, I love the Tone Master Pro. Easy to use UI and not a lot of content out there just yet on youtube. Yes, it was saturated with reviews at first. But, just not a lot of content to consume just yet. I have a TMP, QC and Helix and keep finding myself coming back to the TMP right now just because it’s so fun to use. I’m thinking about selling my other gear, buying a Tonex (so I have any amps that the TMP might be missing) and then just using the Tonex and TMP.

And getting in on the ground floor as a creator could be an opportunity...BUT...that only works of the TMP becomes a real player in the space. Helix and Fractal communities are huge and loyal. So I do I take a chance on something new or become an expert on something that's standard issue. Thanks for your input. I clearly have some thinking to do :)

I've been on the fence about modelers forever and I have yet to buy anything. As you said there are so many choices and now with singular pedal models like the Iridium, ACS1, and the UAFX ones ,there's a lot to chose from. ...too much lol. Also what about that new one from Friedman the IR x I think...looks and sounds pretty impressive. It depends if you want an entire modeling solution of just amp and speakers. For working in the studio there are some great plugins. I have a thunderbolt audio interface so I don't have to worry about latency when using them. I love S gear and although I have others I always end up with S Gear. I still mic up amps and I also use a Two Notes Captor load box with real amps. There are times when a hardware modeler would be great to have...sounds like you're in the same spot I'm in with this decision. I think that if you want the most professional the Fractal stuff is the way to go....maybe. I've been considering an FM3 for a while now.

Fractal Axe Fx III is the only Pro one. Yes, you can use the INS and OUTS any way you want. Basically, it is like this: The Fractal can do Anything you want and sounds better than all of them. From an ex Kemper user and former and current Headrush Prime, Tonex, and Fender TMP user, get the Fractal AF3. Here is the one thing I always say about the Fractal: Best piece of gear I have ever purchased and worth every penny. BTW, the Fractal absolutely smokes the competition in FW updates.....not even close. I am 2.5 years in and when I started it was on FW #15, today we are on #22 and awaiting the full release from Beta #23. Oh, and you even get to try out Beta FW releases if you want. The cool thing about Fractal is all the info is from real people and never paid advertisers since it is not sold in stores. Awesome community as well. My real amp stash has been dwindling ever since my purchase and really, I should just sell the rest since I never use them anymore.

If you are looking for the best tone I will say Kemper every time!
If you are looking for the best routing and decent tones I’d say Axe 3.
If you are looking to use a unit to create video tutorials on how to use then QC or Tonepro.
Even though Kemper is old the tone and reaction to pick dynamics is just too good…when you play a Kemper and then you go to an amp it feels the “same”.
Fractal is great but it needs tweaking and I mean a lot of tweaking.
The difference between these two is that fractals effects are fantastic and it’s a whole lot more flexible…but the “core” tone and dynamics isn’t as “real” as the kemper.

I’ve owned the Helix LT for over five years, and love it, but for your needs I don’t think I would recommend the Helix because it is too mature. I would think the FTM would be a better fit because you will have a lot more opportunity to create CZcams content for that device which is new, compelling, and will generate buzz. Also, I think the FTM is a lot more approachable for the non and semi pro users which, to be honest, is most of us. If Line6 had a new version of the Helix coming I would say wait for that, but since that is a big question mark I would go with the FTM. Be a foundational member of that community, make a big impact, do videos on all the new Amos and updates that they make for it, and when Line6 comes out with their new device you can make a bunch of videos about that device and why you switched, or didn’t switch from the FTM.

I'm happy with Amplitube 5 and ToneX together you can create anything you want pretty much. I have the GT-1 Boss that has some effects you can't find in those two and I use it through Amplitube cabs or IR's. No audio interface in those though, but a dedicated Interface isn't expensive for a pretty good one. I don't like Line6 at all, they sound lifeless to me.

Pick one and get to work. They all take a few months to really dial in and be comfortable with. I have the Boss GX100. After playing with it for a few weeks I started wondering if there was ANYTHING that sounded better? Then I bought a Quad Cortex. I sent it back after 3 weeks. I was just used to the Boss and the workflow. The QC sounds great, just not 3 times as great. The Boss will absolutely melt your face off. I've had the HX Stomp (and Helix Native), QC, ToneX and Kemper Stage before now owning a brand new FM3 MK 2 Turbo and this one is going to stay :) I was quite happy with the QC in terms of tones but I got it in 2020 and the lack of desktop editor was just not bearable for me coming from the HX Stomp with the desktop editor so the QC had to go although I have to say the tones were a lot better than the Helix stuff. I have to say I never really achieved a great sound out of the Line 6 stuff and was never really satisfied with it. It just gave me the feeling, that the models try to be the real thing but they just arent. The QC models were better but not perfect, but the captures were phenomenal. However, after the HX Stomp and QC, I got the ToneX and tbh the editor was just garbage and I couldnt understand the hype about the platform at all since the tones were not as good as the QC in my opinion so that had to go as well. Next came the Kemper Stage, which is my favourite of them all in terms of feel. That thing just feels amazing to play and sounded great as well but I hated to be dependant on other people creating great profiles as I dont have any real amps or outboard gear and that only led me to spend a few hundred euros on commercial profiles. After some time I got sick of it and wanted a real modeler again so I can create the tones on my own and stop spending money on profiles I probably not gonna use anyway which lead me to the Fractal FM3 MK2 Turbo. This thing does everything right where all the others failed and I feel completely satisfied with it. The sound is phenomenal and it feels amazing to play. Regarding the size of community, the Facebook group of the Fractal Audio stuff is the biggest of all of the modelers/profilers :)

As a professional computer engineer, and a fervent user of music technology, I will remind you that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Certainly the Helix technology is 8 years old already. The fact that it is still so widely popular provides plenty of evidence of its obsolescence. Line 6 remains committed to the Helix. A big update was just released yesterday. Sometimes it's not the size of the hardware, but how well you can use what you've got. Line 6 has shown repeatedly they have what it takes. Further, this is Line 6's bread and butter. Yeah, they make a guitar, but only to exist within the context of its paradigm. Fender is a general musical instrument company, heavily diversified. Fender has a reputation for abandoning products as soon as they have proven to underperform financially. How many "high tech" amps and pedals and other gear with the Fender name on it have we seen come and go like a blur? I would say that you should do your homework for sure, but, if you're going to make your choice based on which product is going to be best supported in the future, Fender should be your last choice. If you buy a Helix now, by the time Line 6 is ready to replace it with the next thing that's significantly better, you'll have gotten your money's worth out of the Helix you bought now. If you want to stay on the "leading edge", make sure you choose a company whose existence relies heavily on the success of the technology you're embracing, and not the the guitar company hungry to grab a bit of market share it doesn't current have.
