I honestly have a lot of energy that needs a productive outlet. I’ve done competitive firearms since high school. A lot of men and some women have bursts of violent energy that needs to be directed into something positive. If you can recognize that in yourself and direct it into something that won’t ruin all of your relationships, that’s actually a very positive thing.

I think Matt is saying that neither men nor women should engage in a sport where success means seriously injuring the other person, which seems to be the case with boxing. I think he is also saying that it's even more obvious that women should not engage in this sport, than that men should not engage in it. I don't think he's saying anything against men or women engaging in sports where injury is not the goal, like tennis, swimming, soccer, etc.

Honestly Matt, you and PWA is one of the reasons I converted to Catholicism from Protestantism at Easter. I'm from NYC, unmarried, in my 40s an attorney, was a Fulbright Scholar in Colombia, was a secular feminist liberal, like gun training and trained BJJ at an MMA gym for three years (now at a more traditional gym). For so long I did not think there was room for women like me in Catholicism but now I'm finding out that Catholicism actually has all the most, in the word's of Fr. Merosne, "BA" women from our demon-terrorizing Blessed Mother, to scholars such as Hildegaard von Bingen and Joan of Arc! I was a tomboy and not interested in motherhood or children and that's okay. St. Paul says the greatest vocation is to be single and give your life to God. The Lord called me late to the church because had I gotten in earlier, I would have possibly missed my ability to live in five countries and pursued a more intellectual life because I may have felt more pressure to be married and have children. You are not alone in your belief. I find many Cradle Catholics fall into the same trap as Protestant men when it comes to the other extreme of "traditional" gender roles. I still love you and love your show! But some women, we love combat sports, and we are NOT trying to be gay or men and still love our calling to the Lord and the Eucharist. Much love to you still one of your biggest fans!

The IBA is ran by the russians. They determined her test levels were too high AFTER she defeated a russian boxer in a tournament in 2023. This made the russian boxer record perfect. They never released the results from the test.

Boxing is an effective martial art for self defense. Reduced in techniques compared to kickboxing, wrestling, jujitsu, karate, etc and easy to learn.
Even Matt acknowledged, it's a man's duty to protect.
Many will recommend BJJ because going to the ground is common, which isn't wrong; but in self defense, going to ground intentionally is NOT recommended, because self defense and sport have differences.
Better to stay on ones feet, ready to run as soon as possible. Grappling one opponent, while his friends kick you on the ground is not recommended. Not to mention, variability of ground surfaces like gravel & concrete (no fun), grass (forgiving), dirt & sand (put into opponents eyes, before they put in yours).

Or if a girl grows up surrounded by boxing - let's say her Dad is big into boxing and she spends time with him at the gym, then she might grow to respect the sport and perhaps want to participate. In all honesty - women should be taught real life self defence, and there are many great martial arts to teach this, but honestly teaching the basics like eye gouging, ear deafening slaps to the side of the head, nut kicking, and biting… when you’re literally fighting for your life - these are the things I want my daughters to know. After working my way through 4 belts in Kuk Sool Won (very effective self defence martial art) that teaches a lot of dislocations, and bone breaking, not so much of an athletic sport like tae Kwan do…. I still believe just teaching great people skills, and raising moral human beings that don’t frequent late night clubs at dangerous hours/locations - and learning gymnastics and track and field to raise the most athletic little humans that can escape dangerous situations on demand. There’s no shame in running when you have to, but teach our boys to be men to stand up for what’s right without seeking out a fight, and teach our girls to defend their lives, if and when they have to.

You do realize she’s from Algeria where that is completely illegal with the penalty of death! it is so hard for me as a Catholic with a gay brother and seeing my mother balling her eyes out when going to a bible class saying these kind people meaning her son is doomed to hell.. Me nor my family will ever abandon my brother ever!
You do realize that Jesus didn’t hang around with the priests and the holy people of his time.. The people closest to Jesus were once thieves, liars, murderers and even a demon possessed prostitute that are now Saints!
The apostles displayed lack of comprehension (Mark 4:13), little faith (4:40), hard hearts (6:52), competitiveness (9:34), possessiveness (9:38), selfish ambition (10:37) and jealousy (10:41). Worst of all, when Jesus was arrested, they all left him and fled (Mark 14:50).

What I've read is that the individual is indeed intersex--most people online keep guessing Swyer Syndrome, although I don't think that's been verified. (Read up on Swyer Syndrome--it's tragic. A lot of times these patients don't even know that they have an XY karyotype until their teen years, when they fail to start normal puberty. From what I can find, they have almost all anatomically normal internal female anatomy, including vaginal canal, cervix, uterus, and fallopian tubes--but no functional ovaries, just stunted nonfunctional gonads that turn into scar tissue when they're still in the womb. It's because a deletion on the Y chromosome fails to trigger the mother's body to dump testosterone into the embryo's bloodstream, the process that normally leads to male anatomical development.) I feel badly for athletes who are TRULY intersex due to a birth defect that they did not choose. It's an impossible situation, because they'll have an unfair advantage against biological women, but a similar disadvantage against biological men. Perhaps an intersex athlete racing against women gets a 3-second delayed start and an intersex athlete racing against men gets a 3-second head start (or some other number--I don't keep track of racing enough to know how many seconds would count to 'even the field'). A similar technique could be used in contact sports like wrestling and boxing. Put them in a heavier weight category if competing against women or a lighter weight category if competing against men. That's the best compromise I can think of. It's harder to say "just create a third category" for intersex athletes than for self-identified trans athletes, because there are statistically far fewer truly Intersex people than people who currently self-identify as transgender and attempt to compete in women's sports--and unlike a person who chooses to transition their gender expression, an intersex person did not CHOOSE their condition--it was thrust upon them. I was born with a birth defect (NOT an intersex condition though) myself, so I sympathize: I want people to try to be understanding and accommodate me where possible . . . but at the same time, I don't expect non-disabled people to twist themselves into pretzels and destroy their own prospects in order to lay out the red carpet for me.

Ideally I think people should have at least some experience with amateur boxing sparring or a similar striking sport. Avoid gyms that make you spar too soon or too hard often.

So why when here there is a woman who is deferent, and saying “God created me a woman no matter how deferent you see me”

I've done many different martial arts and still practice and yeah boxing is tough to rule on since the way it is currently done imo is conducive to, at least minor, concussions, kind of like football. Imo if someone wants to get a good workout, wants to learn combatives, but also doesn't like hurting people, I would recommend looking into the grappling arts like Brazilian jiu jitsu, judo or wrestling. There is usually no striking in these arts, grappling is a great work out, and they are effective self defense styles. Of course accidents still happen in these sports, but, unless you have a terrible opponent/partner, you're not really trying to hurt each other. There are also plenty of tournaments in these arts if competition is something that interests you and your son.
But if the goal is to become well rounded in combatives, adding a year or two of boxing or something similar would be a good addition to the grappling.

They offer boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and kickboxing. My kids really enjoy Brazilian jiu-jitsu, so that might be something to consider since it is non-striking if that bothers you. However, my kids also do boxing. They do not do competition boxing. They do mostly bag work and drills. They do occasionally spar, but it is in full head gear under coach supervision with anothet kid of similar size and skill. When sparing the coaches work on defensive technique with all the kids and there is no winner, its used as another drill. Again, you have to observe and decide on your comfort level and if you trust the coach. I have to respectfully disagree with Matt about womens boxing. I genuinely enjoy it. Sometimes i need that intense physical outlet to regain my emotional center after a stressful day. It keeps my heart, lungs, and cardio strong. Again, i do not do competition boxing (i am too old and not skilled enough, first of all) and only regularly engage in 2 step sparring or full headgear sparring. I most stick to intense bagwork.
