Thank you for showing out the way you plan and think the composition, color choice and why, showing up steps and stages, etc.. this is what is missing in must, to not say all, the "paintings tutorials" on CZcams. They forget that we need to know why they started with that or this color choice on the first wash, how they chose colors thinking steps ahead, second options, etc must of what they call "tutorials" here on CZcams actually should be called "showing up my wonderfull skills". Thank you for this "real tutorial"
31:06 “at this stage it looks a total mess…” YES ! - and I would be desperate and almost give up … but by magic you turned it to a fantastic picture ! Thank you for letting us follow the process
Tim, your a master at your craft I've watched many of your video and always enjoy them. I must admit that when you mixed that yellow colour somewhere around the 15minute mark of the video, I was amazed it didn't turn green at all when you painted over the sky , which would have happened to me no doubt lol. Great work and great advice on your process sir.
I can't thank you enough for making such fine art instruction available on CZcams. It is an understatement to say its philanthropic almost. I intend to join your patreon very soon as I get some obligations out the way. Thanks again!
Thank you so much Tim. You simplifie the difficult World of watercolour. I'm a begginer of watercolour And i must say that it is a trouble for me to control the water and the pigments.
I don't yet have the confidence in my watercolour painting to live with a "total mess" stage for long enough while being safe in the knowledge that I will bring it to a successful conclusion. Hence I begin tinkering, adding to much detail, focusing too much on one spot. Thank you so much for sharing your process. These videos are a fantastic resource.
Hi Tim. Thank you Thank you. I love your method of painting. Really helps to think about tone ,light and dark Marian from Uk originally now 40 years in Australia.
It would help us students to see the reference photo as you go along. Just to give us an idea as to what you are trying to achieve on a real time basis. Love the work btw.
To see the source photo, just open another tab on your browser or window and pause in the opening minutes where I show the source photo. I also share the photos in high resolution on my Patreon site - www.patreon.com/timwilmot. Thank you
@@TimWilmot Thanks for the feedback Tim. I watch you on my tv (casting) but I can certainly open a window on my tablet. I really appreciate the fact that you do reply to questions.
Loved the video sir! Learning from you a lot and, as a beginner and self-taught artist, have definitely understood core concepts about watercolor. Couldn’t be more grateful. :)
Love your painting style Tim!! Have actually followed a few of your demos and the result was pretty good...considering I'm a novice. It would be helpful if you could mention the names of colours you use and mix while painting. Thanks
Beautiful end piece ...I always end up using watercolor s as thick as gaouche ☺️ I fail completing th whole piece transparent as u did 👏👏 thtsy I stick to oils 😔
I’ve joined your Patreon club! I love watching your working method. What gear do you use? GoPro? And a good microphone? Maybe you could show the setup, as I’m sure lots of artists (like me!) who are planning on YouTubing, need help with this unique type of video. (Atm I’m shooting over my shoulder.) maybe a special vid for Patreons?
Thanks for this. Thanks especially for the five steps. This has been one of the best tips anyone could have given me about watercolor painting.
Glad it helped Marcus

Thanks Andre and of course I agree with you. This is as it happens and my thought process. Thank you

Thanks Marian. I have quite a few Australian painters in my Patreon club!
Excellent Mr. Tim. With all the guidance you provided I should be able to paint this too.

Thank you!
Thanks
thank you very much, you are great to give so many details
Thanks
Another wonderful painting lesson. Thank you. What would be helpful is to leave the original painting up while you are painting.
Yes I know Pam, but it is going to hide something
I have watched a number of your videos and it strikes me that your technique is very reminiscent of pen and wash but with a brush instead of a pen.
Yes I know what you mean about using the smaller brush in the latter stages
That was great, Tim, Thanks.
Thanks Brother Tim
So inspiring, learnt a lot! Many thanks!
Thanks Barbara
I liked your “painting protocols” or priorities, if you will.
Glad it helps
Extraordinaire. Merci.
Merci
Thanks Tim, that was such a good demo!
Thanks Terry
Very nice watercolor !
Thank you as always!
Well done
Thanks Elena
thank you very much
Thank you Yuji
I love the style and the tutorial but I’d love to know whether you wet the paper first only the paint seems to go on so easily.
No I do not pre wet the paper
Thanks for sharing, your videos are very interesting ever
Thanks Carla
You can make a playlist of these Top5 tips
Good idea!
Beautiful end piece ...I always end up using watercolor s as thick as gaouche ☺️ I fail completing th whole piece transparent as u did 👏👏 thtsy I stick to oils 😔
I know what you mean. The ratio of water to paint is a thing to get right
@@TimWilmot yes that's wht I need to practice ....hopefully will try one more ☺️👍🌼
TOP
Thanks
Do you mind telling us which brand and size the brush for you black lines is? Thx
Can't remember where I got it but it is a jaxhair brush
Hi Tim do you ever find that using a rubber on watercolor paper removes some of the sizing and affects the wash in that area you rubbed out?
I’ll answer that, if you use a kneaded eraser, you can just dab the drawing off, don’t rub, remember to use a soft pencil 2B or softer
No I have not found that
We would like more Bob Ross :) jk
You are great, i love your videos
If Bob Ross was still alive now... He is the #1
Where do you give in person classes?
Next one in Italy and details are on my website

Thanks and thats a brilliant idea. I might do that as a posting just on Patreon. I use a Logitech C920 webcam though and Blueball Mic

Me again. I think there is a hint of urban sketching here.
Yes I love that movement
Thank you !
