He didn't deserve a son I'm Puerto Rican and just cuz you were talented and could have sex doesn't make u a great father worthy of being proud of someone. He should have been more proud of himself and kept a greater perspective to not allow drugs to totally consume him. Even here he looks drug riddled. He was on a path and nobody around him cared more than having a laugh with him. Remember people will share their vices before their riches with you. And rightfully so.
And in 2yrs our beloved legendary comedian Freddie Prinze would be gone! I was 9yrs old and was devastated by his passing 💔 He made me laugh and I crushed on him as a child. SIP Freddie Prinze thank you for existing!
I was a kid watching Chico and the man and couldn't understand why he left us . I'm currently rewatching the episodes. The concept was good Jack was great and Freddie just ran with the character. An amazing comedian who could have easily crossed over to dramatic roles I can't top your comment thank you for existing. I'll just say my sentiment exactly.
I miss this style of interviews. No over the top buildup or cloying phoniness,no monstrous egos, just two people talking in a genuine down to earth manner. Freddie Prinze seems like a really kind and humble person here. It’s so hard to believe that he’d be gone at 22,just two years later. Jack Albertson really cared about him. He was one of the pallbearers at Prinzes funeral and gave an emotional farewell speech. I think it all came down to too much success too soon, that and the drug culture that surrounded Hollywood and being around the wrong types. All his dreams came true and ended before he had a chance to truly even live his life and enjoy his success.
Just saw this!!! I first saw Freddie the first time he was on The Tonight Show!!!! He was so funny and cute!!! 😊 Never missed Chico and The Man!!!! You could see the downward progression in his physical appearance on the show!!!! 😢 It was really sad to watch!!!! I guess it was too much for someone so young!!!! It was so sad for his family, friends, and fans!!!! Such a talented person but the pressure and drugs unfortunately took a toll on him!!!! I have followed Freddie Jr. over the years!!! ☺️ He has made a career and name for himself!!! He has a beautiful family!!!!! I'm sure Freddie Sr. is so proud!!!! It is so heartbreaking that he missed out on his son growing up and knowing his grandchildren!!!! 💔 RIP Freddie💕 Thanks for laugh's!!!!! 💖

Had to come and find this interview after her interview with his son for She’s All That (1999). If only Prinze Sr would’ve known ahead of time about his son’s career and family.
@@ThatJamesGuy42 Yeah you probably right…just so many What If’s/Who Knows….maybe Jr’s mom would’ve allowed them to stay in LA if his father was still alive. Or maybe Jr definitely would’ve gone for a different career path. Just sad that Sr had a drug addiction/problem that couldn’t escape from him
He didn’t have time to grow as a person. David Brenner said it best: “He stepped in a subway in the Bronx, and got out in a limo in Beverly Hills, that’s not a transition, that’s an eruption”. However, I wanna remember his talent first last and always.
@@aaronx8006 Noooo. It was an example David Brenner gave. Hes not from the Bronx. The point was his success was way too fast. There was no time 2 develop and mature.
David Brenner probably said what he did about Freddie and the Bronx as a joke; Freddie actually was raised in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan which back in the day when his parents moved there was almost all white. In his mother's book she said his father (very European looking German immigrant) made all the rental arrangements alone and when the family moved in and some neighbors saw his Hispanic mother they whispered very derogatory remarks.
Even though I'm 18 I'm a big fan of Freddie Prinze sr and chico and the man i grew up watching re-runs on sunTv at night...it's a shame that it's not enough material on him videos, doc, interviews and stand ups so if you have some more videos of him plz post he deserves that much.
His last name should be "Prinze" w/ a "z" and not a "c" but other than that I'm thankful for the upload as Freddie Prinze was a great comedian but was gone too soon.
Alan Parker's "Fame" (1980) was recently inducted into the Library Of Congress in 2024 as "an artistically and culturally important" film. Nominated for six Academy Awards and winner of two Oscars, the core of the film centers around the character of Raul Garcia, a gifted and troubled young Hispanic teenager from the South Bronx ghetto aspiring to be a stand-up comedian, and going into the same downward spiral as his fallen idol Freddie Prinze. It was essentially a fictionalized "roman a clef" portrait of the then-recent Prinze tragedy,, and it remains to this day a relevant and undimmed cautionary tale about Hollywood, the young, and the dark underside of "The American Dream", with a powerful performance at its center (Barry Miller) that garnered the lion's share of the film's critical acclaim.
He seemed like a great guy! You don't see that honesty, Today He seemed like a Robin Williams type...fast with a joke, a laugh He could have been another great comedy star...such a shame!
I was a teenager when I heard he shot himself. I wondered why would he want to do that with that fame and fortune? As I grew to 62yrs of age and experienced life alittle longer. I can see that sadly there is that little voice somewhere that might make you believe you cannot over come life's problems. That is why to keep the faith in God the other voice that is always there.
He would've EXPLODED by the end of the 70's had it not been for the drugs. He would've done movies like you wouldn't believe. Better than Pryor, or anybody at that time.
Such a great person very funny. I find this interview hard to watch because you can tell he’s tired he’s worn out he’s in a depressed state camouflaged by a good joke and fake smile you can tell it in his eyes poor soul
He was the greatest, the absolute greatest. I began watching chico and the man at around 8 y.o., and the individual attributes combined with the chemistry between all of them, especially he and Jack Albertson, who'd loved Freddie like a Son, were magic.
