"Sea of Stars is an excellent tribute RPG that channels the best parts of its ‘90s-era forebears like Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6, and even Star Ocean: The Second Story. Because of that, it’s fair to say that its world, graphical style, and mechanics aren’t wholly original, but there are enough interesting twists in its 30-hour story to make for a rich and enjoyable experience of its own merit. This isn’t just nostalgia fodder. That said, its twitchy combat can be difficult to get a handle on, and once you do, it only stays interesting for so long before its limited customization options make it start to feel just a little repetitive. That’s made up for by a strong soundtrack, an approachable and endearing story, and a wide number of fun zones and boss fights that make this a trip worth taking." - Hry
Absolutely loving this game. It reminds me quite a bit of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga!
Maaaan we need a remake of that for the switch

You'd think that the biggest gaming journalist outlet on planet Earth would hire people who know not to put spoilers in a review, especially without so much as a spoiler warning. Thats literally rule #1 when it comes to gaming reviews, its also just plain common sense.

Tbf they rate everything roughly 7/10 either way. The only reason to watch them to begin with is to mock them.

This game is amazing, it has the best music and most chill vibes I’ve seen in a game in a VERY long time. Most enjoyable gaming experience I’ve had for a while. 10/10
Nah, solid 8/10 no more.
Repetitive puzzles and combat, not a remarkable story and weak dialogue are some of its flaws. Music is great, as everything that composer does, but far from his best.

This seems to definitely be a solid entry into what hopefully will get a sequel that will expand on the combat even more.
It’s really a 9/10 because in addition to the game itself, the soundtrack alone is also phenomenal!

Its a fusion of Chrono Trigger and Magical Starsign.
Both of which are my favorite RPGs of all time.

The reviewer in question apperantly got mad because he didn't get to review Starfield. So he put out the spoiler to sabotage the whole thing and made his displeasement known.
So far I'm loving the game and the story I'm going to finish it before playing starfield

2 hours into starfield and started playing this instead. This is a great game. Love that the heroes actually trained to be heroes.
Chrono Trigger is probably my favorite game of all time, this gets an easy 9/10 from me.

It’s great that it’s on PS+ so you don’t have to buy it to play it, but I’ll go ahead and make the pedantic note that Sony did not make this game, and it’s on all platforms.

That doesn't make it addictive lol, it just means as a piece of media it's doing what it intended to do, which is be consumed.

Talks a lot about customization in combat but comparing to Chrono Trigger it pretty much does the same. The added bonus of having to act in a turn based combat makes it actually quite appealing I'll buy it.

The character art turned me off. But after reading a few things and watching a few reviews im def going to pick it up. Just really dont dig the art direction..The pixel art is really nice though. Music seems to be very well done as well.
To me it feels like Golden Sun mixed with Chrono Trigger. Nothing wrong with that xD

These are not 16 bit graphics. A 16-bit console could not support such high definition pixel art as this.

Everything is great but the actual combat.
The combat is fun just repetitive like a lot of games at least there’s mini games
which one better Sea of Stars or Octopath Traveler 2?
A better comparison would be to Chained Echoes. It's similarly entertaining. The story in Chained Echoes is far deeper, but the gameplay in Sea of Stars makes up for it. Octopath is a different sort of experience. Tough to compare it with a traditional style JRPG.

This game def deserves more than an 8. That's the same score that ign gives call of duty almost every single year. Hell, they gave jedi survivor a 9 and it was completely broken at launch. What a joke.
