I remember that day vividly. I was a 727 flight engineer at the time at gate 66 at LAX ready to depart for SFO. We had just boarded all PAX and the Capt. delayed the departure to pipe the audio into the cabin of the landing on the Moon. History in the making and shared with all the PAX and crew. PSA mgt. never had an issue with the Capt. for the delay, the PAX loved it!

Neil Armstrong clarified that the quote was"Thats one small step for A man, one giant leap for mankind ". The "a" was lost in the garbled transmission. Love your show.

I thought he fluffed his lines?

Experts have worked over the recording and verified that Armstrong may indeed have said "one small step for a man". But the raw recording makes it just about impossible to detect, so the story of the missing "a" has been around much longer than the expert opinion.

He Definitely said:…”That’s one small step for man”…..It’s absolutely clear that’s what he said….Simply because he was doing it in representation of everyone, not just himself doing it….He then said “One giant leap for mankind”…..See how that makes sense…..”For a man” wouldn’t have even sounded right either….Man and Mankind!….See what I mean….

Thankfully, Apollo 11 had a lot more luck and good fortune than they did then!!

The parts are easy & cheap to find. It’s the certification process & paperwork that makes them valuable. These people are guilty of Faking the process & the paperwork for certification of real parts.
And most of it is exotic metal alloys which can’t be printed (yet)

@@user-bf4bl3zw1k Printing "exotic" materials is done all the time, including titanium and high-nickel alloys. But most SLS printed metals have a characteristic surface finish that "gives away" the production method unless they're machined or ground afterwards.
