  • A delegation from the Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora dev team recently took flight to Lightstorm Entertainment to participate in a preview event for Press and Content Creators. Dóri managed to tag along to document the efforts poured into making this occasion memorable and highlight the emotions that the team is going through in this latest episode of Life at Massive.

    I like the game quite a bit. I got it on Xbox Series X. In a future update, can you allow us to turn off the persistent dot when weapons are holstered? It'd be nice to be able to have a crosshair only when aiming in too. It's not a big deal, but I'd also love to be able to sprint without clicking in the left stick, so it's just automatic similar to Titanfall 2, or Far Cry 6. Hold it slightly forward it's a walk, then the speed gradually ramps up to a full sprint when holding forward all the way. Visually, while beautiful, there is a bit of weird fizzle on trees in the distance and on some ground rockery (perhaps due to dynamic resolution/FSR?) so if that can be remedied, that'd be cool too. I'd also like to be able to go a bit further with the FOV to 110.
    I love the detail from a visual and aural perspective: sounds great in Atmos. Going to different locations on the map and hearing somewhat different ambiance, and then mixed in with the ability to affect wildlife with your whistle as they respond is super cool. Just the way the sound works is incredible, especially noticeable during a rainstorm. And the detailed descriptions of the flora, fauna, and enemies are great too, if you want to consume it all. I thought I'd be indifferent about getting the Ikran, but I thought it was beautiful and does bring the wow factor when you land somewhere high and look out over Pandora. And petting her is adorable. The combat/shooting feels impactful, and I appreciate that the wildlife feels realistic in that not everything wants to kill you.
