Making a Breakaway Transformation Dress - First Try!

- I tried to make a transforming break-away dress! This is my first try, mock-up, proof of concept. I tried different methods including velcro, snaps, and fishing line. My final project is for a quick change transformation dress in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella musical. Thank you for joining me here on costube for my sewing projects!

Wow. This blew my mind, a type of engineering and sewing all in one. Good job. Making historical clothing is one thing. making them for stage seems to be a different whole ball game! Maybe why I said a big fat no to doing one when someone asked. Def a skill level above me! Always wanted to know how they do this!

It's so interesting to see different methods of rigging costumes for quick changes! The ones I've done before have only used Velcro, the biggest size snaps/whopper poppers, and at least 2 people behind the scenery to accomplish the change. I've never done one of those transformation dresses though, so it will be cool to see the entire process!
