My E bike kit did the same thing with the acceleration with using the stock controller. It was like I didn’t have much pulling power until I was rolling around 10 mph or so. Got a sabvoton controller now there’s much more low-end torque. Also your throttle voltage needs to be adjusted to have more low-end torque.

Your getting lucky in shorts.I have had my ebike 2 weeks and while going 20 on the 2nd day on a trail a baseball size rock that was half under dirt--my front tire nicked it and it luckily hit me on the front sole of my shoes and i was wearing hiking shoes reinforced--it could have easily hit me somehwre else or hit the chain--or deraileur and done some real damage or even hurt. I also while shooting a video yesterday--at 10 mph while trail riding another rock popped up and hit the underside of the bike during a video hard enough to hear the clang.I am surprised if you do this that often that you have not experienced this.I am adding a 1k fron hub motor to mine--but I plan on doing trails at 15 max--40 is way too fast unless you have on borderline motorcycle gear.i also ride only with long sleeve shirts and pants.I use to mounatinbike and seen plenty of folks get injured or road rashed--btw road rash HURTS--burns--stings etc--and even at 20 miles an hour you can scrape a lot of skin off

Less low end torque is to save the moss fets. Cheap controllers allow for unrestricted current at 0 rpms. This is very bad for the fets. Your controller is good an should last a long time. If you want more low end speed up the current or get a bigger controller. Oh you can also get a 5t motor. You have a 3.5t right now which is built for speed not low-end torque like the 5T.

My bike will weigh about half this--also prob half the MPH--maybe high 30s--but way easier to manage. Also these things are very fast--anything 3000 watts or over can get you badly hurt and even on mine i wear long sleeve shirts and pants. I cringe looking at this guy in shorts--this is as fast s a 250 motorcycle and I would treat it as such. This is a electric motocross and I would prob wear motorcycle gear.I would rent or test drive an ebike--anything over 30 mph is fast enough to get really hurt. Seat is not adjustable on this--my ebike is a 20 inch non folding and i want range.Except for the outright speed--my bike can do what this can--more range--and i will have AWD and can replace most of the parts with bike parts--like tires--this looks like it has motorcycle tires--which can cost a lot more then bike tires.I also do not want to push it with the police and this might get looks. Also these motors produce more watts--my 750 bafang pushes 1300 plus on hills--with 2 motors I will be at 3000 watts--which is 28 mph up a hill no problem.
