- VTuber models don't need to be expensive. Successful VTubing careers like Filian's can be built off of cheap VTuber models.

If you're not picky about how you start out or what you want your character to look like, yes this is definitely viable. If you have an idea in your head though with a lot of customization, you're gonna have to shell out the big bucks.
Yup you're going to have to toss money and take risks. Or just be paranoid and learn how to do most of the work yourself (me)
@@GuuchanTrashcan Or you have to learn how to do it yourself.
@@shadowferret1You basically reworded his comment.
@@WheatDos I wouldn’t even call that a rewording. They gave up on reading the sentence half-way through.
This guy is speaking facts. Idk why everyone acts like vtubing is expensive when there’s resources available for cheap. Like yes custom made avatars can be expensive but most people starting out don’t need to shell out thousands right away.
Yup. There are also people who spend tons of money for the model, then realize that they actually don't enjoy creating content so that money just evaporates. That's why I want to make sure people know its possible to start out for cheap first before getting the custom avatar.
If I weren't b& from every payment processor on the planet, I would totally set up a "resale shop" for vtuber avatars like one of those MMO account selling stores😅
And you can absolutely make one yourself! Even if you don’t know how to make art you can learn live2d or blender and commission model art for pretty cheap if you look for regular artists and tell them the specifics you need for a vtuber model!
I got a kon base for like $20 from the guy who created it. I'm learning unity and I now have a custom clothes VRC kon with audio link. I'm updating it changing it around learning new aspecs every week I show off the changes to my group. Very fun hobby and just join discords and ask questions.
What is a kon?
I mean me personally, I have pretty extensive knowledge in blender soley because I wanted to make avatars for vrchat and was able to create my own model for vtubing :D so yeah I dont think enough people take advantage of the power of knowledge but I am thinking of making an updated tutorial on how to change FBX's to VRM's because that was the biggest struggle I faced when making my model
Honestly go for it. The biggest struggle with using cheap 3D models is just converting them to VRM files and if that's more widely known then that would be one of the things that bridge the gap for more 3D VTubers to make content. Do it before I end up doing it in the future :^ )
as an avi creator for vrc you can only get so far the model designs to the point where you cant tell each of them apart
Yeah it can be tricky to frankenstein different hair and face styles for your model to make it more unique. In the end of the day it is a lot easier than learning to edit the models yourself or even make them models from scratch. I don't regret learning it but its a painful journey.
People be wondering how to turn VRChat to VRM
I be wondering how to turn VRM to VRChat
I've used the Rindo base for a long time. Really great for customization.
Investing before filian reacts to this
I've known this for years and see Mint every time I look at most of Filian's common models, even the Salvia model. I refuse to acknowledge it as 竜胆 but that's just how I personally process information designated specifically for VR use.
Mint is a great model and gets used EVERYWHERE. I've been around it enough to even pick up some trauma by some brain damaged weirdos. It's all good.
One thing though, my favorite model is ¥200 and gets picked up on stream A LOT, which means guys like me that use it get recognized way more often than we care about. If there's any point where I give a damn about content creation or streaming, maybe I would start with it but as it is right now, I know full well that I'm the type that doesn't like content creation or streaming. I understand all the technical bits and bobs that go into it and it's no wonder vtubers don't understand tech because if they put down the few hours of effort tuning this and that to make their content suitable and personally likeable they'd turn plaid and explode. It's so exhausting and I don't recommend it but there's a few people out there....They got that dawg in 'em. 💯
For anyone starting out, please start on something small before investing a good money for better assets
yeah lol I've known about this stuff for a while but instead I just went straight into Vroid back when i started and tried making my own by playing around with templates and editing textures.
God guuchan I just saw this model of yours in action instead of just the still images konnya made and I love it in motion.
Thanks man! Glad that ya like it
This was a neat video, solid advice.
But i can't help but be distracted by the Mooselini theme in the background. (Driving test stage in parrappa)
Edit: distracted as in I'm a huge parappa fan and got nerd sniped. It wasn't actually loud and distracting or anything lol
Nicee, I'm glad that people enjoy my niche tastes in music to use in videos. Thanks for the compliment and also for letting me know it wasn't too distracting!
Bless the youtube algorithm providing me educational content.
Hey, thank you so much for sharing this. I didn't realize how...accessible vtubing seems now. I have been interested in giving it a shot and this seems much more practical than going the 100% custom route.
I had tried looking for models before, but I definitely was not searching in the right places.
Yup its pretty simple if you know where to look. For 3D models (VRM) you'll need to use programs like VSeeFace, VNyan, or Warudo (steam) for face tracking with your webcam or iphone. For 2D just use VTubeStudio (steam). There are also more options I talk about in my recent video, but yeah no problem and good luck!
I feel like it's actually hilarious as to how many people didn't realize this???
Even if youre being slightly picky about what you want, starting out you can get a decent model for 30 kwd (abt $90)
man. filian didnt create her design??
Jokes on them, I made mine for FREE baby
Same 🤣. In the end your personality makes people stay
I also use free and cheap vtuber models! I recolor them for my own content!
Nicee, saving money while having fun!
@@GuuchanTrashcan Yup! It's the best way to start out
Learn how to create and animate in 3D programs you can start VTubing free
That's really good information thanks for making this video to share with people.
Thanks, I'm glad that its helping people in some way!
Even if the average person looks at the pricetag Rindo, Selestia, Moe, etc. there's even cheaper options of like, Kissmas that I've seen people, and myself use, that are like 5 bucks to get, like 2 bucks for an outfit.
Its really great if you REALLY wanna find a cheap avi to use
Ooh I didn't even know of Kissma. Thanks for the heads up!
@@GuuchanTrashcan yeah it's an older avatar, few years old. Had a bit of traction here n there, though not really much customization n outfits except from the creator themselves (they still make new outfits to this day though)
I'm actually going to be using this information for a new video where I go more in depth of cheap models. Thank you!@@jpag_grey497
Very true…. I hope you get all the subs
Thanks for the kind words!
I play with making characters often in vroid. Would it be odd to stream myself making adoptable 3d vtubing characters?
Yea the expensive models are all custom jobs.
i am sooooo picky
But how do you set it up to where it actually works though?
The 3D models I mentioned can be set up in Unity for VRChat for VR Tracking (Look up VRChat Creator Companion/VRChat model making guides) or the assets can be used to turn them into a VRM model in Unity for face/body tracking (Look up UniVRM). Programs like VSeeFace, VNyan, Warudo etc. are free and works with the VRM files. 3D models can be harder to set up but with proper research and practice its very possible. You can facetrack with a webcam or iphone.
The Live2D models I mentioned are fairly simple to set up with VTubeStudio. Also works with a webcam or iphone.
@@GuuchanTrashcan thank you
Idk, bro. Ide have to grow a personality first.
Do you need rigging for the model to work? Isn't that quite expensive?
The ones that have VRM support (3D) should already be rigged to work. Same for Live2D ones as well
yeah but what if i commission guuchan instead
Spending more on Vtubing and paying my bills, wow that would be crazy... unless?
I believe those models are cheap because a VTuber already paid fullprice and they just keep selling them for a much lower price because it's already made or they believe they can sell them for a lot of people so the price is shared
It's the second one.
*Steals the page*
*Runs*
>_>
No for real though. DAMN! SWEET! Cheers fam! But question, why you got so little subcribers, what?
Hope you get far! Be safe!
its not a secret she was using the gremlin model and kendo got her her current model
yeah theyre cheap! because they arent unique, and mainly anyone with a bit of money can adquire them.
your advice on using these as test for making streaming something serious or not is really good, but if youre searching for something unique and solely yours, then videos like these are not helpful at all and invalidates hardworking artists
Yup that is fair. If someone is searching for a unique design then it would help to look out for Artists that can build what the person wants. As someone who makes models myself I understand this greatly. One thing that can happen though is if a person tries out the cheaper models and likes the style a lot but isn't quite exactly the unique style they want, they can also commission the person who made the cheaper model to work on a unique design for more money if the artist is open for doing that project. This is the case for some Live2D Artists
I don't know how this invalidates anyone.
