Though I spent more than three decades in this field, but still I myself had learnt virtually lot of new things from your videos, and I'm following you since long, and considering myself like your virtual student and considering you as my virtual Instructor in modern tactics. This something that is taught after there is a basic foundation, on top of new military or new officers (ones with no military background) probably never used weapons before and have no motivation to practice out of uniform. I know cause I experienced this, I taught groups like this and they lack motivation and competents to learn something this simple

    What about switching shoulders without moving your hand position at all? Keeping your front hand on the hand guard and rear hand on the pistol grip, and literally just move it over to your opposite shoulder and aim with your left eye (still keeping both eyes open).
    I’ve tried this way for sure. But when I was shown the new school way, it was a game changer.

    • @specialoperationsofficer
      @specialoperationsofficer Před rokem

      That method sort of works but practicing to be ambidextrous with firearms is king. And will ultimately aid your accuracy when using your off hand.
      I think it was called the kentucky switch at some point in time. And also sounds kinda suggestive 😝

      A half switch where the arms stay in the same position and only the stock changes shoulders is more of a temporary shortcut if you just need to change for a second and get back or dont have time to make a full transition, but you wont be able to aim down sights as easily so youll mostly point shoot.

    Hard to see from the strong side, but it looks like your support side hand doesn’t quite grip the same. It looks like you don’t wrap the thumb around the pistol grip to fire, but just keep it up on the same side to manipulate the safety on/off. Then it looks like there’s a slight adjustment of that grip before you switch back to the strong side.

  • @gl3618
    @gl3618 Před 10 měsíci

    Noticed in the intro, of course, SF trains with better tactics than straight leg and the rest of the army. I noticed guys hanging out in doorways pulling hall security. It never made sense to me to abandon coverage in the hall because once your last man leaves the hall or room, if it is not still occupied by friendlies, it is no longer "clear," and must be cleared again...waste of time clearing into a room, engaging, exploiting, then having to form up and clear into the hall you came from a couple minutes before...because it only takes seconds for an enemy to make that once clear hall, unclear. So are they now training to leave a man in the "fatal funnel" in some situations to keep the hall/point of entry clear? Glad to see that changing because re-clearing everywhere you were was always inefficient and kept you on site longer for any kind of counter. Just like assaulting an objective, in and out as quick as possible.

      Isolation of movement. Of course you can switch feet but the lesson in this particular sequence was to isolate the shoulder switch mechanic. Better learning pattern for the brain before introducing more 'complex' movements

    • @specialoperationsofficer
      @specialoperationsofficer Před rokem +1

      You absolutely do. If we are doing strong foot back then you would switch your foot position when you switch hands.
      in this training case he just wants to isolate the one movement. Because it can be pretty jarring for your muscle memory to use off hand.

    • @Snookynibbles
      @Snookynibbles Před rokem +1

      Tu does not switch feet during a shoulder switch…it’s unnecessary.
      In CQB, the place to switch foot stance is when approaching corners & approaching doorways so as to avoid flagging forward foot & your weapon.
      Tu mentioned he avoids switching shoulders when entering (uncleared) hallways because it involves reducing readiness during the shoulder switch process.

    At the speed cqb unfolds switching to weak side is stacking the odds against you.
    It’s like a golfer 🏌️‍♀️ switching his primary hand to swing with his off hand. another analogy would be a quarterback, throwing a 30 years pass with his off hand . It’s not going to happen. Well I hope you all have a good one homies .
