As an Indonesian, I can understand why there are still many Timor Leste people who don't like Indonesia until now. Maybe because of a bad past history, or because Indonesians living in Timor Leste have dominated the country's economy. Hotels, restaurants, corporate businesses always owned by Indonesians, or Chinese. Even the largest telecommunications company in Timor Leste comes from Indonesia

I'm a Filipino and I love Indonesia, among all of our ASEAN neighbors they are the only nation that we treat as our brother from another mother. However, there is this gripe that's been really bothering me about them, and that is the sad reality about the disturbing things that their Government did to this humble and meek nation of Timor Leste. I would never understand why they did the things they did to this nation, like how can you even do that after what we've ALL went through for hundreds of years?? We've all went through the same horrible atroseetees (misspelled on purpose) by the hands of those European peegs, and we've all fought for our independence for a very long time, so you of all people should know how it feels like to gain independence only to be enslayeved (misspelled) again. Instead of lifting up your poor neighbor and giving them comfort, you took away the most precious thing that their forefathers desired for hundreds of years. We were all in the same freaking predicament, and I would never understand why Indonesia did those things to our poor Timor Leste neighbor, and I didn't even include the Papuans there 😞. I still love Indonesia, their our brothers in hearts and blood, I just wish that we could turn back the clock and that would see that what they did was so wrong.

Angolans are rude compared to for example Portuguese or Mozambicans. Timorese have very close ties to all these three countries. It is amazing that no one hates Portugal, the colonial power (usually the hate target). I don’t think race is the main cause since Timorese are almost black too. In Portugal, many hate Angolans too, because of their superior attitude.
