  • In the video you see Niels van Dooren setting diamonds each measuring 2.0 mm. The ring is 14kt. yellow gold and was hand made and later manually set underneath a microscope.

    How do you know how many stone will fit in the circumference without having a gap or over lapping . The layout process is what I'm asking about.

    Hi, thank you for the lessons and great videos. Can you tell me, if the stone is 2mm, do you take a burrs ball 2mm or 1.9-1.8 ? Thank You

    Gute Arbeit.
    Das einzige was ich anders gemacht hätte. Ich hätte die Körner gespalten, so dass 4 Körner die Steine halten. Finde ich persönlich sicherer und schöner von der Optik.

      Danke ! This way of securing stones creates less prongs and therefore less possible little hooks that can grab onto clothing or such ;-)

    Hi, what is the tool you are using to hold and place the diamonds?

    • @heinikendude
      @heinikendude  Před 6 lety

      Sebastien Godin thats a ‘hollow’ nail, dipped in a bit of water every time . Adhesion :-)

    Its "nice" ! But the last Stone is overlapping the other one - thats a no-go. These Brillants will break easily. ;)

    • @heinikendude
      @heinikendude  Před 6 lety +2

      Christiaaaaaan Indeed, overlapping diamonds snap easily. I can promise you that in this piece that was not the case ;-)

    Why are the stones so close together? What, the place is not enough? Stones should be at a certain distance from each other, and not interfere with the other. Due to the fact that one stone climbs on the other and bulet chipped, the view will not be better.

    • @heinikendude
      @heinikendude  Před 4 lety +5

      Hi Gedas, I disagree. I believe diamonds are the most imporatnt piece of this jewelery ring. So they should be as close as possible so less material is visible. And believe me, diamonds don't move or climb on eachother if they are set well ;-)
