PRODUCTS MENTIONED:
**Detergent Free Laundry Balls (20% off): goo.gl/PU2qu3
I've been using these for 1.5 years. Here's tips to maximize their effectiveness that I have found when working with them (lots of you saw my old video and asked for an update!)
1) Wash with hot water when possible
2) Do not overfill load (this causes the balls not to have proper agitation of clothes)
3) Spot treat major stains first using a baking soda and hydrogen peroxide paste)
4) Let dry in the sun for the day once every 30 days
5) Great on musty towels!
Greenshield Organic Laundry Detergent: www.greenshieldorganic.com/
We use this on sheets and comforters. The Costco bottle is the most economical and lasts a long time.
**Dryer Balls: amzn.to/2iWdYSh
We LOVE these. You can also use tennis balls. We don't because it is loud and the kids' rooms are right next to the laundry room.

My newest laundry "hack" was a $5 shower tension rod above my water and dryer (mine is in an alcove). We keep our empty hangers on it and when a load of clothing is finished in the dryer, I can just stand there and hang the clothing as I get it out of the dryer. It is so much easier to just bring upstairs and put it in the closet and you never have to worry about wrinkled clothing that you forget to fold or put away.
Interesting...thanks.
I also use white vinegar as my fabric softener but I add lavender essential oil to it:) Not just for smell but for it's anti fungal and anti microbial properties!
Does your clothes smell like vinegar? I want to try this, but I'm afraid of the smell
Me too!
@@MousieWeeProductions they really don't! The smell goes away very quickly!
Lavender oil? Where can I find that for laundry use?

As a working mom of 2, I do 1 load a day and I use the delayed timer on my washing machine. I posted a video about my routine on my channel. Thanks for sharing!
I'm an empty nester now so my laundry has been cut in half at least. I love seeing how you get your sons involved at such an early age. You are truly teaching them so many good life lessons. You are an awesome mom and I looooove your videos!! Have a great day!! 😊
I love how you include your kiddos in the videos! You ave a lovely family! Thank you for the motivation! Dawn
I absolutely love your videos. they are quick, informative, light, and just great. thanks for doing what you do.
I keep my colors separate. Love my whites very white and bright. We hang all shirts in our house so much easier to put away. and roll pants and pjs etc..
Georgianna my Mother would spin in she grave if I mixed whites with any coloured stuff! The whites will soon become grey if mixed with any coloured stuff...
Georgianna Same. I cannot wash my son's black pants with white socks. A sock accidentally got in a load and came out tinted gray and the pants are not new. Same with jeans and whites with my experience.
Georgianna I separate my washing into blacks, darks, coloureds, light coloureds, and whites. Sometimes if there are lots of pinks and red I put them in together. I don't mind waiting until I've got a full load as long as my colours are kept good
That's brilliant to have storage behind your storage!!
I am a triplet mom of 11 month old and 9 months adjusted and I love watching your videos!
see.. i love to do laundry. especially folding. it really soothes me for some weird reason. i live in a place that doesn't have a washer and dryer but the laundry room is right next door to me. i have started using baking soda and vinegar to wash because i am really sensitive to soaps too though i just LOVE the smell of one of the liquid tides. sometimes i will just put a little bit in. i have "woolsie" dryer balls and i love those things! i never realized how great vinegar is for making your clothes smell so clean and making them soft. and it's so cheap! i love how your laundry area looks and the sweater you have on today is so pretty! thanks for another great video!
I am in love with her videos. They are so calming for me.
Such great tips! I've been contemplating on new laundry ideas, especially the natural ingredients. Thanks!
I love how simple you make it! Thanks for sharing!
AMAZING tips! Thank you for your always fabulous tips...one of my new year's resolutions is to organize one area of the house a month (January was pantry). Thanks to you this process will be much easier and motivating! -Candice
I love your organizational tips!! You have definitely motivated me to get some cute storage baskets and bins. When I'm organized, I feel so much happier and less stressed. Your videos always motivate me to get organized!! Thanks!!
We did the same thing Kathryn. We don’t sort by colors anymore. Now that my four boys are older they each have their own hamper and as soon as it’s almost full they bring it down they wash it they take it right back up to their rooms. It really helps with having all the laundry pre-separated out.
Love ur videos so much I am going back thru looking at all of them while I am on Christmas break. Thank you for your hard work and you are so bless with a beautiful family
You are saving me with this huge family of 7. Omg thank you. I can watch you all day
I have been using your no fold technique since you mentioned it is think when you were prepping for your second child. I love it! I never fold my underwater and socks anymore!!!
underwear
I always watch your channel when I'm doing housework and stumbled on this while in the middle of doing my laundry - love your tips! Thank you X
Kathryn you are so amazing thank you for taking the time to share all of your great videos! Keep being awesome!!
Lots of love- Meg
That sweater 😍😍😍! Thanks Kathryn for your joy filled, inspiring videos!!!
LOVE the 'set' at the new house and ADORE your shirt! Great tips! Thanks for sharing, added it to my household playlist for re-watching later.
I think this may my favorite video so far! I have been wanting to go more natural with my laundry and your tips are actually easy and super useful! Going to implement these ideas in my laundry routine!
I have been watching your videos for such a long time and enjoy them very much. I also use all your ideas of storage and it has been so great. my place is organized and neat. Thanks for the excellent videos.Hope to see more of them!
Happy New Years! !
What a cool video of you and your family.
Love your ideal of organizing clothes on a budget.
Thanks for the tip and video.
I'm new to all this so simple videos like this are actually so helpful to help ease the stress! Thank you so much for showing how easy it can be!
Laura Tien Very true. I think sometimes we make things more complicated/stressful than they really need to be.
Love seeing you teach the kids how to do laundry! I didn't learn how to do it until my teens.
Loved this video and your sweater top you were wearing!!!!
"It must be laundry day .... or Daddy dressed you!"
I needed this video today! Our laundry day is Friday (today!), but I was going to put it off because I was exhausted when I got home from work. Then, I checked youtube and lo and behold, a laundry video! I started the laundry while watching this and now the second load is almost ready to go into the dryer- plus, one less task to worry about getting done later. Thank you, Kathryn! :)
Love your top. very flattering, attractive and yet classy.
I love the sound and smell of laundry going, but I hate putting it away for some reason... lol.
Oh my gosh, the beginning is so true! Just when you think you're done... more shows up!!
I think I must a Freak!! I love to do Laundry, I sort the colours, love to see my laundry dancing on the line (Aussie here and we are having a heatwave), I only use the dryer to dry my towels (its makes them soft). Love to fold everything, makes me feel calm, and then place it in the drawers or closets, love to iron as well. Ahh peace!! Good ideas for those who don't like Laundry but I so enjoy my one pleasure regarding housework.
as always I love your quick tip videos! glad to see I am not the only house that struggles with Landry.
Yup, I love it we do a lot of what you do. Great video!
I am going to be moving in just a few days and love to see how u have done things, it is giving me so many ideas
Awe your laundry room looks awesome!! Good job! Great tips as always. Thank u 💕
Your shirt! :D I use heavy duty command hooks to hang my drying rack on the wall. My husband and I are in an apartment (and I have a full size washer and dryer, which is AWESOME!), but the laundry room is very small. Hanging it up saves valuable floor and crevice space!
thank you for the video. I'm just wrote out the laundry schedule yesterday. Everyday is a different thing to wash example For Monday I will wash comforters and sheets, Tuesday only my children's clothes, etc.
You have some many amazing ideas and I hope I can incorporate some of them in my daily life
You managed to make a video about laundry so sweet and adorable. Lol. You have the cutest family. Also, I love that you mentioned some awesome natural options, too. :)
Thanks for sharing your experience with those laundry balls. I'm always skeptical to try things like that, but I think I'm going to go for it.
I actually really love laundry. The feeling of freshly washed clothes/towels/sheets, folded and put away makes me feel so accomplished. It's quite therapeutic for me. I do at least one load a day.
Our family loves your videos! You always have the cutest baskets and organizational items!! :)
Really enjoyed this video. Fun to watch.
Great tips!!! I'm gonna start doing this. I love your channel and loving all your tips. 😊
Awesome ideas as always. Love love love your videos!!!
Yes! Separating based on colour is not necessary. I agree!! :) I just do loads based on size whenever I need something that's dirty. But I'm also cautious with new items, like you said. Works well for me!
I found your channel days ago, and I can't stop watching your videos. I'm in love with your channel. So many great tips. I just love it!! Thanks for sharing this amazing ideas and tips. GBY
your videos are so great, Kathryn! I've been a long time subscriber, but now that I have my first child on the way this summer, I'm rewatching so many of your videos to help prepare for more clutter. Lots of love from the NC triangle!
I love all of your videos!! When I say love I mean LOVE!!! They are so inspirational and I just love organizing my house using your amazing tips!! Thanks for all the posts, and please keep posting new ones!! :) Love & prayers!! God bless!!!!!
Awesome video! I love how playful your family is when you're filming, so much fun to watch! Blessings :)
Love you videos! Something that helps me keep up laundty is to put a load in to wash at night right before I go to bed (after my shower, so the clothes I wore that day are includes)...I set a delay if about 8hrs on the washer, then on the morning, I just have to switch to dryer & by lunch, laundry is ready to put away (which I do after lunch while the kids are napping)
I thoroughly enjoy your videos. thanks for all your tips.
I love ALL your videos and re-watch them all the time. Fun fact: I used to live in a European country where the norm for most families (unless you are really really wealthy) in apartment buildings is that you share one laundry room in the basement with everyone, kind of like the way it is in college in the USA (minus the multiple washers and dryers, just one of each). So I got allocated a couple of hours on a specific day of the week to do my laundry and that was my only shot at it. No being tired, late from work, etc., or I had to hand wash to have clean clothes. So glad I don't live there anymore, haha :D
Great tips :) I like the dollar bins behind the pretty bins idea, A LOT!
I love your videos! You really have a gift for making these videos❤️
we recently moved too. i try to do towels one day and sheets another day. so far that's been working for us, but it's just my husband and myself. we keep our detergent and things like that right on top of our dryer including a little waste basket for when we clean out the dryer lint. storage in our place is severely lacking. please always make sure you clean your lint trap after every dryer load for fire safety!
Also, check the pipe of the dryer for lint. Underneath there is a catch area where miscellanious things are sent. Check there, too. Please read your machine's manual.
I needed this video!! My laundry is currently a week old in the same huge pile in my basement. I attempted to fold it but then my youngest cannonballed the folded pile. Life.
Erica King Vlogs ha... yup!! During recoding this Owen was using my bra as a teether 😂 one step forward two back sometimes!
I truly love every video you put out.
Your top is so beautiful. Thank you for all the tips. I will be sure to use some of them the next time I do laundry. Have a blessed day.
I have a laundry basket on every level, I cloth diaper so it's a must. my laundry room is in the basement (which with infant twins and a toddler is annoying). But I swear a basket on each level helps. First thing in the morning, I bring all the dirty items down stairs from the day before and start a load. I also have it makes which days I have to do diaper laundry and that load gets started right before bed because it takes about 3 hours in the washer. my laundry is never completely done, but it's organized. =). thank you for sharing your ideas.
You always bring a smile to me!!!
Thanks for sharing! I am also loving the crystal wash laundry balls!
So cute, the kids😃.I love the tips. Didn't know that about mixing colors together to wash. I've ruined so many clothes that were new but previously washed to remove extra dye that I shyed away from it.
I think we have more clothes than the typical household. One because my husband has work clothes that sometimes involves layers. And then all of us participate quite a bit in the church worship team so we have additional outfits. One of the things that I kind of stumbled on that really helps is one I fold and Iron in the basement as soon as the load comes out. When I'm folding I tend to focus on one or two people and that seems to be the most efficient way to get things out of the basement and put away quickly when they get upstairs. I also sort socks downstairs and if anyone is missing it just kind of stays in the basket until the next time.I tend to do at least one load of laundry every day including Sunday but sometimes I do three or four on Saturdays to stay caught up. Folding clothes downstairs is by far the best practice I've adopted her laundry. I do use baking soda vinegar and peroxide in very similar ways that you do. I recently started making my own fabric softener sheets using old socks that are on reserve and a mixture of water and fabric softener and vinegar. Thank you for your awesome videos I'm a huge fan! Oh yeah, and I use the KonMari method of folding clothes which saves a ton of space because as I said we have a lot of clothes!
My biggest tip for folding laundry with a toddler is to have an extra basket for them to play in so they leave the one with the clothes in it alone lol
You always have the greatest tips, thank you! Do It on a Dime is my favorite CZcams channel!
I'd like to share a tip with you...just as you are having Carson help with laundry as a little guy. Continue doing that as they grow. All my kids transitioned to do all their own laundry by 12 years old. I assigned each child a day to have it completed. Oldest son was Monday, my daughter was Wednesday and youngest son was Friday. And my wonderful husband saw the kids doing their own laundry and he started to do his own without me ever asking him and he irons, also!
Awesome video Kathryn. Thanks for sharing your tips n tricks for laundry. One thing I do differently is add a Color Catcher to the load just in case anything does bleed it's not ruined. We make our own laundry soap and I just love it. Baking Soda is definitely one of the ingredients. I just love your videos. Thank you!
Great video. My laundry room is in the basement. After watching your video I my now inspired to make that space function better so I will want to go down there. Also love your top.
A lot of people like the smell of the laundry detergents. A natural alternative to get that same great scent is to add essential oil to your washer, like lavender.
I also try to do one load a day then i have sunday laundry day to wash everything else. Works for me. I love the laundry basket down stairs idea, i think imma put a small one in the kitchen for dish and hand towels
I've been using crystal wash since your last video, love them!
Love this one! Wonderful info. Thank you!
Thanks for the great tips! Very helpful and cost effective
I was mine by person, especially when it comes to my kids. I have 3 boys so then this way it goes from their room to the laundry room and when it comes out of the dryer I can bring it straight to their room to put away. I probably do more loads but it I feel the amount of work that goes into each load works out. Plus it keeps me organized for my family of 5 people plus 2 dogs.
Great organization as always :) love all your organization systems and the new house looks great!
love how you have taught your babies too xx
I have my laundry organized by person. On Monday I do darks and colors for my husband and I, Tuesday is dish towels, bibs and sheets, Wednesday whites for husband and I, Thursday fold and catch up and Friday laundry for my daughter. I wash our cloth diapers on Sunday usually as well. It works super well for me as I don't get bogged down with too much and I can easily wash and fold one load a day.
Thanks for the advice! Love your sweater!
I love the way you store things! I'll definitely be using your tips whenever we move into a bigger place/a house. I like that a lot can be done without having to renovate or gut a space, thank you! :)
great video. I also struggle with the overwhelming laundry which I have to. I've got two sons (2&5) and I hope your tips will help me. the basket system I will definitely try.
love your vids when i'm cleaning the house i always watch them allover again motivateds me and you have a nice calm voice🙈💝
Love it! I hate doing laundry and we are a family of seven, so my goal it to do one load per day.
Great laundry ideas and your kiddos are adorable!!!
This is one of my fave vids of yours!
Love the organization in ur laundry rm. Definitely gives me ideas for mine.. I currently have a good routine as far as actually doing laundry. Which w/ 2 lil 1's this seems to help tremendously. I have 1 day a wk I ONLY do laundry which is Thursdays (unless there is a soiled item that needs asap wash). This day wrks perfect because it's rt before the wknd & fresh/cleaned laundry is available for any wknd extravaganzas. I used to do laundry everyday/every other day but then it takes time away from doing other things w/ my lil ones. I also have 2 baskets in my closet for darks (heaviest items) & lights, which is just my hubby's & my laundry. I have just 1 basket in my girls rm for their clothes specifically. & a towel basket in the laundry rm. all 4 separate baskets seem like alot, but in the end helps so much when distributing the items where they need to go. The items are already separated & I dnt have to wry about where each item needs to go to. Hope this helps as well
great tips. I like the baskets for each kid.
great video. ty for sharing! you give me hope that a neat, organised home is possible! laundry is my nemesis!! specially the socks lol. I have a mesh laundry bag for them but it rarely gets used. got it at the pound shop in case anyone wanted to know 😊
Love this video. My laundry room is in my bathroom so I def need organization
Enjoyed you're video Catherine. Funny ,informative and so cute!
Love your sweater, it adorable. I love the idea of the sock holder, the dryer is still eating the socks in this house. Thanks
I lvoe those ideas. I love the Laundry room it looks so pretty and organized!
it s very nice of u coz u understand everybodys bussy isn't it?dats y u post small vedios.thanx for dat
Your my kinda gal...so practical! I love it 😍
I love washing clothes. This is my favorite part of organizing the house. I recommend to wash whites separately. They will remain brighter.
You're so cool! I love your tips and tricks!
I LOVE the hamper at the bottom of the stairs idea. Our laundry room is downstairs in the basement and we live in a bungalow one storey, so we have one in the main bathroom upstairs which has been a lifesaver! I would love to also have a system for all the kitchen rags! Maybe a small one in the corner of the kitchen too? Love your laundry room storage and decor too! Time to get on mine!
A little tip: the gentle cleaner that mums use to soak their babies terry towelling nappies (sorry dypers?to you) in overnight is fantastic for soaking ALL your whites in and babies food stained bibs. It is called Napisan over here in the UK so may be different in USA and it is very cheap to buy, Soak them in the solution overnight.. even if there is other colours in the garment it won't run or ruin it and then machine wash the next day. Whiter than white 😊. Your babies are absolutely gorgeous! God bless xxxxx
