This is my favorite Blind Guardian song because I am a huge JRR Tolkien fan. This song is based on a story in the Silmarillion and tells the beginning of the events that ended three ages later in the Lord of the Rings.
Great choice! This is from way back. Check out some of their new stuff too. "Violent Shadows" is killer, and proves they can still bring it after all these years
i love all the bard`s song/valhalla-reactions but those 2 songs are not all what this band is about by far! Sadly there are few other reactions out there, so I dig this one. What a masterpiece...
As many have said - "Nightfall in Middle Earth" *is* one of their best albums, awesome in any version, and it's songs are a fixture in concert - looking forward to attending another one in late September with a couple of very good friends. I know many of their songs by hearth, but I can sing along with every song including the "audio play" intro🤣. "The words of the banished king: *I SWEAR REVENGE!* [...]" gets me pumping my fist into the air every time - all glory to Feanor, High King of the Noldor! (...he ends badly...😂) I'd suggest "Mirror, Mirror" as well as "A Dark Passage" also from Nightfall. I feel you can't really pick a "wrong" live performance - as you know you can easily differentiate between pre ~2010 and post by Mr. Kürsch's hair length (when did he cut it down? I don't remember...). All performances on the "Imaginations Through the Looking Glass" DVD are great - it was a specifically filmed live performance in 2003 (and Amazon informs me I bought it back in 2004... tempus fugit...⏳). If you're in fantasy/medieval metal stuff than listen to their older albums like "Battalions of Fear", "Follow the Blind", "Tales from the Twilight World", "Somewhere Far Beyond", "Imaginations from the Other Side" and "Nightfall in Middle-Earth"... they may be old, but their are gold.
@ramsey: wow. you are becoming more and more of a European metal fan. Nightwish, Epica, Blind Guardian, Sabaton, Rammstein, Ayreon... All the fantastic bands that tell stories and not just scream and grunt ;D - next BG "Secrets of the American Gods" official video. Based on Neil Gaiman's novel.

For me nightfall in middle earth is their very best work, so powerful
